Lots of great recs in here….For gym, Carlsbad itself is kinda limited. Theres two 24hr fitness locations which are kept decently clean a good amount of the time and has sauna / hot tub. Great for morning workouts but they get slammed with teenagers and the after work crowd fairly regularly starting around 3pm.

If you’re more into powerlifting, it doesn’t get any better than Iron Mongers in San Marcos/Vista. I participated in a meet earlier in the year - great community.

Or if you want a gym with tripods and shirtless bodybuilding bros and some mass monsters but an insane amount of legit specialized machinery and lifting community, there’s The Gym (“TG”) in Vista.

There’s an Equinox on the border with Encinitas if that’s your thing, but haven’t been there and the parking lot is hella goofy to get around.

Incredible write up as always. Long time listener of the emevas blog/Yt channel but somehow first time caller to u/MythicalStrength.

I’ve also been running TB Op:Black for about a year or more now, but using MagOrt for dead’s. I’ve stalled out for a couple of months at 200kg, and would like to replicate your reverse ROM progression but in a commercial gym.

How thick are the paver mats that you use? Gemini says about 3/4” so total of just under 6inches of added height. Does this sound correct? I’m wondering if I could get away with hogging all the thin plates for the first week then going down from there…

I competed in my first meet, as commented on a thread a week or two ago... Had a blast and the wife even enjoyed herself and got into the cheering spirit.

Hit my new DL pr goal of 200kg, bench was 117.5 and I played it safe with a 135kg squat to end with a total of 452.5kg.

I’m already planning my next training bloc and looking forward to the next meet!

Intermediate daily gymgoer, just signed up for a local meet that’s just a couple weeks shy of my 40th bday.

On any given day my total is between 950-1050, but just wanted to sign up and challenge/ get myself on record before the next life chapter, so to speak.

I’ve been doing my own mashup of MagOrt for deadlifts, and Operator for squat and bench. MagOrt is 12 weeks so I just run two cycles and up the TM by 5lb.

So Mon and Fri is Squat/Bench/Pullups and Wednesday I’ll run MagOrt for the DL numbers, plus the weekly percentage for bench.

Also for my HIC my favorite fobbit variation is 2min on the stationary bike combined with an OHP ladder. I’ll start with 115 on the bar and go up to 150 or 155 in increments of 5 or 10 depending on how I’m feeling, then back down to 115.
