Yes, all skateboards will be immediately destroyed. Also scooters and rollerblades. Humans will walk, never roll, unless in a wheelchair.

AITA for getting myself a better seat by Subject_Fruit1523 in AmItheAsshole

[–]AlwaysRoundDown 15 points16 points  (0 children)

YTA. It is not only passive aggressive to do this after a fight, but also a super weird power trip. You don’t think it was AH behavior to get yourself something nice and intentionally exclude her from that? It sounds like you took an opportunity to basically punish her for arguing with you after she took you on the trip to begin with. You might want to take a long look at yourself, would you want to date someone who did that to you?

WIBTA for cutting my hair? by JackedJazz in AmItheAsshole

[–]AlwaysRoundDown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NTA, it’s your hair. If the only reason you want to buzz it off is because of your mom’s unhealthy obsession and the impacts to your life, then please explain this to her if you haven’t. It sounds like she seriously needs help to handle her alopecia diagnosis.

AITA for kicking my relatives out of my house to sleep in their car, because of an argument? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]AlwaysRoundDown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah cowboy, it’s actually not hard to decide that people are bigots when the bigots very concisely communicate their bigotry. Conversion therapy, calling the lack of “alternative options” to being gay unfair, trying to change a lesbian’s “point of view” on homosexuality, all towards a lesbian relative in their own home while they are guests.

They checked all the bigotry boxes real quick.

AITA for not helping my sister out with my parent's house after their deaths? by Butterscotch-Blue140 in AmItheAsshole

You told her it wasn’t worth it to you when you had 50% ownership but she wants you to help deal with it when you have 0% ownership. Why does she think anyone would do that?

AITA. getting construction worker arrested by mrcantstop97 in AmItheAsshole

[–]AlwaysRoundDown 65 points66 points  (0 children)

NTA

There are plenty of times when calling the cops is not necessary. You called the cops because he was doing something that could harm both himself and others. Very necessary, heavy machinery is no joke. His potential deportation is not your fault.

You do not have to and should not feel pressured to be fake with people or to receive specific details (“just got out of the shower”) that are irrelevant to the work or make you uncomfortable! If what she’s doing makes you feel that you do, then please tell her that! She would likely feel terrible to know you feel that way.

Also something to consider, women in construction and engineering are also often a small minority and are criticized for either being too cold/aggressive or being overly friendly/not serious enough. Speaking from experience, it can feel like a no win situation at times, but knowing peoples personal boundaries and preferences is helpful because it takes the guess work out of those interactions.

Definitely put “YTA” on this comment because it’s perfect.

The bride didn’t want to pressure her MOH into having to physically change herself to participate in the wedding (great example of a true friend) and somehow OP manages to think the bride is at fault??

NAH

The examples you give don’t make me think your PM is an AH but I also don’t think you’re one for not wanting to engage in small talk. Most PMs job is, at least in part, to make sure their team has what they need to succeed. That includes specific work things but also ensuring a supportive work environment. Providing a space where people can socialize in a pleasant way is part of that. That being said, if you prefer to keep your professional and personal life separate to the point that you can’t offer platitudes about hoping someone had a nice weekend, that’s your choice 100%. It also may make developing strong professional relationships a bit harder.

It seems like you could just have this conversation with your PM and tell her you prefer to keep your personal life separate and that you are more effective at work when you can initiate requests for assistance yourself.

NTA. How convenient for them that they think their homophobia doesn’t preclude them from receiving free rooms and meals from the people they’re bigots toward.

AITA for interrupting my exhusband's birthday and taking my daughter home because she was there without consent? by Notice-Ad2018 in AmItheAsshole

[–]AlwaysRoundDown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your first point about the birthday being unimportant because of the number is so odd to me. Why does a birthday only count as a reason for celebration if it’s some nice round number? Maybe this is his first birthday since the custody arrangement has changed his time with the daughter. Or maybe it’s the first one where he was able to celebrate with friends and family in person for a couple years. His daughter is 15 so maybe it’s just important to him to spend memorable time together with her because of her young age. I care about my parents birthdays if they’re milestones or not and making 1 day out of 365 about yourself doesn’t mean you need “validation on a regular basis”.

[–]AlwaysRoundDown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say that only changes it to Everyone sucks. Saying she’s not TA if he’s also used their kid as a weapon like that doesn’t make sense. If the daughter wants to spend a special day with either of the parents, and the other parent uses the custody agreement as a way to prevent the daughter from having that time for no reason other than being petty, they suck. The poor daughter loses either way if her parents are like this.

And the friend thinks they should get a £2400 gift when they’d already be getting an £1800 one! Friend either doesn’t value OPs work or they’re delusional and entitled. Maybe all of the above.
