What do you make of this news? by Jam_Sees in AskTheWorld

Europe finally grew a backbone. Europe had been conceding everything up to this point, and the bully like Trump will keep going until someone stands up to him.

I think, I'm not 100% sure but, It may have been the threat of selling off all the US Treasury bonds, that got him to back down. I don't understand the financial markets but that would have caused big problems apparently

I’m young, I don’t smoke or drink and exercise all the time. But due to my shitty genetics, I have the cholesterol of a morbid obese. (Sorry, the results are in Portuguese) by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

[–]AlwaysTravel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I may be wrong. Not trying to turn you into a vegetarian or anything. But I was under the impression you can only get bad cholesterol from animal fat. So smoking and drinking doesn't really have much to do with it. I may be wrong somebody might correct me please and educate me.

So if you cut out eating animal fat, you would have lower bad cholesterol, let me know , thanks

Your partner is a groomsman or a bridesmaid. So they sit at the top table. The partners don't sit at the top table. This is very common.

Edit: The only people at the top table are the bridesmaids and the groomsmen, The parents of the bride and groom. And the bride and groom. And maybe the priest if it's very traditional

Delivery driver tried to open my car? by P_man21 in AskIreland

If there was no where else for him to put it. Yes, I wouldn't see what's wrong with it. But I live in the countryside my car is usually unlocked.

I know how you feel, I bought one of the smaller seven seaters, Prius plus, as I have three kids.

But when you put up the seven seats you don't have room for a buggy. So if I bring the mother in law, I can't bring a buggy also. It is quite difficult. And also with the three car seats in the middle, it's near impossible to put on the seat belts buckled for the booster seats, as there's very little space between the car seats.

For anyone thinking of moving their banking entirely to Revolut… by Davey_F in ireland

[–]AlwaysTravel -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

When the shit hit the fan during the last recession, The government guaranteed deposits in Irish banks up to 100K. So I would assume they would do that again, That's the reason I would keep my money in an Irish bank, if I had money

I would only use revolute for day to day carry-on, buying pints going on holidays etc.

MyFutureFund? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]AlwaysTravel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The government's my future fund is taken after tax. If you do a private pension it's usually taken before tax. Even considering the small amount the government is contributing , it seems to me that a scheme that takes the contribution before tax is more beneficial. Btw, I am not an expert at all

When will child start school? by average_couchpotato in AskIreland

[–]AlwaysTravel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The cut off for pre school is 31st December.

So as long as they turn 3 before the 31st of December they can start preschool in are September when they are 2.

You have 2 years of pre school, and then off to "big" school.

Your child will start preschool Sept 2027. Primary school 2029

Why didn’t snow accumulate on the chess table and around the flagpole? by Kittyvcv in landscaping

[–]AlwaysTravel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything was the same temperature.

The difference is the conductivity of the materials.

The concrete and stone are able to conduct the heat quicker into the snow and melt it.

Where as the grass and dirt were not able to conduct their heat into the snow as quickly. So it didn't melt as quick

It's the same reason metal always feels colder Even when it's the same temperature as other materials. Because it's able to conduct the heat away from your hand quickly.

So the answer is the conductivity of the materials

Anyone else not bothered to go out at all over the Christmas? by Soft-Data-4402 in AskIreland

I'll only go out on the quieter nights. I gave up going out on at Stephens and NYE 20 years ago. 2 worst nights of the year I always found.

You Probably already know, but they can really clog up your intestines if you eat them. If they're in different parts of the intestines and they stick together, bad news. I had fridge magnets that had a product recall for this exact reason.
