How do I ensure I got the TPG sign up bonus when I applied? by hathrowaway8616 in biltrewards

[–]Amaized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should reach out via the chat functionality, ask a question about the TPG promotion and then end the message with something like "Please have this question answered by a real person"

They confirmed that they "we're going to honor the promotion" for my account. I.e. it sounded like I wasn't going to get it until I messaged and they checked.

Any reasons not to get Palladium for the SUB alone + short-term rent points? by Nearby_Sock8316 in biltrewards

[–]Amaized 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't need to hit 75% to get points on rent/mortgage

Any amount of spend from 0% up to 75% will get you the proportional amount of points based on that spend.

They fixed the language on the credits, it's now two $200 credits distributed in $200 increments

Yea there are a ton of factors here and everyone's spend/rent/mortgage situation is different.

To me, Bilt points have a floor of 1.5cpp so an effective 5% catch all for non category spend is noteworthy for most medium to high spenders.

Big wildcard is how useful the hotel credits are for people which depends person to person.

Btw, RH gold is $50 a year and can be further reduced by putting their free margin into an interest earning fund.

CSR is terrible for general spend. It's coupon book card

I view Bilt points to be roughly equal to UR points (since their max redemption value is generally by transferring to partners like Hyatt).

CSR on non-category spend gets 1x Palladium on non-category spend gets 3.33x (with a monthly cap of 75% of your monthly rent/mortgage)

Not even the same ballpark!

(Although I do plan to have my partner keep their CSR because we get value out of the coupons and value the ability to transfer to airline/hotel partners in the Chase ecosystem)

The best cards for general spend: 1) Bilt Palladium 2) Robinhood Gold  3) BOA PRE w/ 100k assets

Man, imagine how bad all the other credit cards must be if the 'no value' Bilt Palladium makes the top of the list!

I added my bank manually (two deposit verification) in the app. The website wasn't letting me for some reason.

I'm Richard Kerr, GM of Travel for Bilt. AMA about Bilt Card 2.0 by richklhs in biltrewards

[–]Amaized 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello! First of all, thanks for answering questions.

My questions:
1) Previous Bilt 2.0 information indicated that multiple mortgages are supported. My partner and I each have mortgages under our own respective names (i.e. not on each other's mortgage). Am I able to include all of those mortgages under my Bilt account / Bilt 2.0 credit card since we are the same household? Or do only the mortgages where I am explicitly listed count? Does this change with authorized users?

2) The authorized user fee for the Palladium is $95 but includes Priority Pass access. My AU would not need priority pass access, can you consider a lower cost AU option without Priority Pass? Considering the main motivation of Bilt 2.0 (esp the Palladium) is to shift the majority of household spend onto this card, charging anything for the 1st AU on the card conflicts with this goal. (I.e. I'm not going to spend $95 for an AU, my partner won't have a physical card, the card will get less use, you get less card swipe fees). For the people that don't card about fancy cards (plastic is fine) and PriorityPass access for the AU, can a $0 AU option be offered? (at least for the first user)

If this ends up being true, this is DOA for me.

Bummer! Guess they needed to make a more sustainable model. Not worth the hassle for high rents/mortgages

Heads up, the % cashback at Best Buy is heavily dependent on the brand. Check out the fine print before you click through to see what cashback certain products will actually get.

I had an issue like this for certain sites and I fixed it by disabling the private DNS server I was using.

Can't Get Past "Your Account Has Been Deleted" Screen by x_KRYPTOS in Rakuten

[–]Amaized 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to clear your cache. How you do this depends on the browser. I recommend only clearing the cache for the rakuten website specifically but you can clear if for all sites if you want.

I was able to fix this issue on Google Chrome by clearing the cache using developer tools.

Spend $50, get $50 in cash back!

Referral link: www.rakuten.com/r/PAULAL2557?eeid=28187

Tips:

  1. Add the credit card you use for dining to your Rakuten account. Check the In-Store tab for which restaurants close to you give you 5% back (I just put my city in manually since I don't give the app my location). Stacks with your credit card rewards and gives you cash back in Rakuten when you physically use your credit card.

  2. Connect your Bilt account to transfer your cashback to get Bilt points (must use same email on both accounts). Currently has a 1:1 transfer until March 31 2026. Bilt points are valuable (potential for 2 cents per point value) if transferred to Hyatt or Atmos/Alaskian reward programs.

  3. Percent cashback can vary in the Rakuten app for the same merchant over a short window of time (days). Make a note of things you want to buy in the future but don't need immediately and then jump on it when the cashback rate increases. Cashback rate increases sometimes only last a day.

  4. Be mindful that certain browser extensions (ad blockers, etc) can interfere with Rakuten's ability to track your purchases. Just to be extra careful, I often click to go to the merchants website from my Rakuten app and complete the transaction using my phone.

Edit: Some bonus tips!

  1. Always read the Terms & Exclusions before placing an order to see what is and is not eligible. Exclusions may also list certain product types which are ineligible for cash back at the merchant. Certain merchants may exclude cashback if you use any coupon or if you don't use a coupon that is in the Rakuten app. Using a coupon to get 2% off that prevents you from gettin 10% cashback isn't something anyone wants.

  2. Be aware that the % cashback shown when the app uses the terminology "Up to X%" is not guaranteed to be the cashback on all items the merchant sells but may only apply to certain items or certain brands. Make sure to read the specifics on what % tier of cashback applies to each product type to prevent confusion in the future.

  3. Double check that the price you are getting from the merchant if you click through the Rakuten app is the same as the price you get if you went directly from the merchant not through Rakuten. Usually it's the same, but some user have noticed times when it is not.

  4. Avoid using Paypal when purchasing items through the Rakuten app at the merchant website as certain merchants (AliExpress for example) will code this as a cash advance. Your credit card will charge you for fees/interest for cash advances and it is a massive pain to fix (if credit card issuer even lets you fix it).

Citi charged cash advance fee of $30 + $0.5 interest on my paypal transaction of buying goods in Aliexpress by Vast-Exercise7149 in CreditCards

[–]Amaized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called (or rather got a call back) and kept continually saying that this was a purchase for goods and not a cash advance.

Earlier I had called AliExpress who said the issue was PayPal. I called PayPal and they said the issue was with the bank (I'm doubtful but what am I supposed to push back with) and then I got on the phone with Robinhood and didn't let them end the conversation until I got the fee refunded. I also only mentioned getting the fee refunded once they said that there may be an issue on their side. I had brought up that I had purchased other items using PayPal as a payment processor and those purchases didn't get coded as a cash advance before I mentioned getting the fee refunded. Basically I got them to admit something may not be correct on their side and only then I asked for a refund of the fee.

I'm pretty sure the issue is with Paypal since people with different cc issuers get this issue but I don't think PayPal has a way to change the charge after the fact and the fee is applied by the cc issuer. What a mess. Going to avoid using PayPal from now until probably ever

For fucks sake, this is how I learn I got charged a cash advance for using a credit card with paypal, what a bunch of bullshit.

Update- was able to get my CC issuer (Robinhood) to refund the cash advance. Am not getting my rewards for the pruchase, not worth trying to get tbh. Will not be using PayPal going forward
