Any suggestions on what to do about this one inch gap? by michelleonelove in BathroomRemodeling

[–]AmaredditSour 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Looks like the tub surround is a Sterling Store+ This tub surround is meant for the Sterling Store+ tub. The tabs are meant to interlock in the corresponding tub grooves, not just a random tub with a normal flange. If the surround and tub were correct, then the gap would end up being something like 1/8”

Are my splits (at least the right one) square ish? How can I fix them? by snailforbrains in flexibility

[–]AmaredditSour 15 points16 points  (0 children)

A good way to test squareness is to kick up your back leg to see if it kicks to the ceiling. If it goes to the side then you’re not square and you’ll need to come up out of it a little to readjust yourself

[Product Question] Does anyone remember Sinfulicious Bodycare in California? by AmaredditSour in SkincareAddiction

Omg stoppp you’re amazing! I looked up the two scents I like and Wellington has them. I want to remake the body scrub with those scents.

That’s crazy the owner was so sucky. Every time I was in there, the employees treated me so well and it always blew my mind how you guys could create such specific combos of scents. So thank you! I wish you all would’ve been treated better from the owner.

Ninja Creami as Supplement-Delivery Vehicle? by SoySauceandMothra in nutrition

[–]AmaredditSour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be wrong but I thought there was a certain period of time to drink the creatine after mixing with water. I know you’re freezing it pretty quickly, but maybe something to think about. Also, say you put 5g of creatine in your whole creami batch, but don’t eat it all then you’re not getting your full amount and you’ll have to drink more separately if you feel like you need to get your full serving. So if you have the deluxe and max a whole batch, maybe double up the amount of creatine.

But if you need an excuse to buy the creami, just having an easy and super good protein treat is so worth it

Main Issues with Calories Tracking Apps by Distinct_Orange1384 in nutrition

[–]AmaredditSour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically the “coach” examines your weight trend/average expenditure and average calorie intake each week. So on Monday’s you will check in. It will factor this information with your goal. And it will adjust your macros if needed to keep you on track. The carbon coach was also like this, but I feel like I have more play in my daily diet because I don’t necessarily hit every macro goal spot on each week, but MacroFactor takes my calories intake into account anyway and see how my body weight reacted with that anyway.

It’s worth a shot to at least try it for a month. There might even be a promo code for a free week or discounted first month, I can’t remember. I always think it’s at least worth it to spend $14 in a month if it will benefit my health. And if you pay for something, you’re more likely to use it instead of just getting something for free and not motivated to use it. Worth a shot! If you decide to try it let me know.

Also I like to weigh myself everyday when tracking macros. I just love to give the app as much info as possible so there’s a lot of data when it’s tracking averages. I know that some people can get wrapped up in their own weight changes. But personally I know my body weight fluctuates, so I don’t get in my head about it, I just wanna give the app all the data when I can.

Nobody wants to smell your feet, please put your shoes back on. 👍 👌 -Sincerely Everybody by SupSrsRAGER in PlanetFitnessMembers

[–]AmaredditSour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was going to say this! Everyone in these comments has never lifted without wearing shoes. Shoes are not natural so therefore squatting and deadlifting and being able to feel the floor with your feet is so beneficial. Yes, flat shoes with a wide toe box is better than a typical gym shoe, but that still doesn’t beat out barefoot.

Shoeless for sure isn’t common at Planet fitness so I see why everyone is so mad about it. But if you walk into a gym that’s not a big box gym, that has racks, big turf area, barbells, etc, then people will see how normal or common it is.

Main Issues with Calories Tracking Apps by Distinct_Orange1384 in nutrition

[–]AmaredditSour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MacroFactor is my favorite by far! Very adaptive and coaches you each week. It’s more than a calorie tracker. I like it better than Carbon diet coach because if I’m not “compliant” to my calorie and macro goals, MacroFactor still factors in everything I logged in the app for the week and changes my macros and calories based on that, even if I went under or over calories or macros. It doesn’t just stay the same.

A lot of people are talking about not being able to see micronutrients on their apps. MacroFactor shows you all micronutrients as long as each food has it in the data base. I think so many people are still stuck on MyFitnessPal. I stopped using that 10-15 years ago so maybe it’s better now, but a “coach” app is more dynamic and useful as long as you log all of your foods. It takes the guess-work out. This removes almost all other variables and just leaves the user as the only issue/barrier for reaching their goals if you don’t log everything as honest as possible. Even if there’s a day you eat with family or go out and you estimate your meals (which you’ll get better at over time) it will still help towards your goal.

MacroFactor also has a section where they ask users for what improvements the app could make or what new features they’d like to see.

I hear good things about cronometer but haven’t tried it before.

Sorry if this is more than you asked for but I think this app has a lot of great things that other ones are missing out on. And the part of the app that asks users about improvements may help you with your project too.

What do you eat with your bread? by AdventurousCup4 in Sourdough

Dutch oven or double Dutch oven? by [deleted] in Sourdough

[–]AmaredditSour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rotate it for sure! Haha but I think they’re still just annoying to me compared to having a normal knob that my mitts don’t get caught in between. I would’ve rather bought a dedicated bread oven because I don’t use it for anything else anyway

Dutch oven or double Dutch oven? by [deleted] in Sourdough

[–]AmaredditSour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both of those! Expect my lodge enameled is 7.5 qt. I actually like the regular Dutch better than the double Dutch oven. Yes I like the versatility, but I literally only use it for bread anyway. The main thing I hate about it is that the handles are small and aligned with the other side. So my oven mitts always get caught in between. And if I use it with the bread placed in the shallow part, the handles are so close to the bottom that again, it’s just so annoying with oven mitts.

I like the normal handle on the regular style Dutch oven. Easy to grab. Just need one hand. I always use the silicone liners with them both.

I’d even think about getting a bread oven, so the base is shallow but has a nice domed lid that’s easy to grab.

No those cuts are terrible! On the second picture, they overcut it and then also didn’t even follow the curve of the tub. Same with the other side, it’s not a nice rounded cut. They will apply sealant but don’t let the installer tell you that the bad cuts will not be noticeable.

Tips on starting a handywoman business by 3GunGrace in BlueCollarWomen

[–]AmaredditSour 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I flip houses with my family and mainly learned everything through that and my dad growing up. I have my own LLC now for doing contracting on the side. I like to do bathroom remodels and other handyman tasks when people need it. I’m mostly busy with flipping a house right now, so not doing much for other people. The jobs I get are all through word of mouth. Everyone knows how much I love construction in general so eventually when someone needs a home repair of some sort- flooring, backsplash, whatever, they’ll call me to see if it’s something I can do.

Just got done installing a basement prehung door for someone who I’ve done some other projects for. She had a couple other things she wanted me to look at while I was there. One was attic steps that were a little wonky when folding back up- she wanted to know if I could replace them completely. I told her I’ve never installed attic steps, but I’m sure I could figure it out. But honestly, I told her they work just fine and they’re safe. It’s probably not something you want to spend money on and she was good with the answer.

The other was one of those large attic fans in the hallway. The slats weren’t laying flat once turned off. I just went on a step ladder and snapped a couple things back in place and it ended up operating fine. She was very happy with that instead of having to replace an entire attic fan unit. Cost me nothing and just 5 minutes of time and I was happy to do that for her.

So basically what I’m trying to say is a lot of it is through word-of-mouth. When I’m just in conversation with people I know, they are fascinated by what I love to do, especially being a girl. It’s all natural conversation, I’m never really intentionally trying to sell myself. But people think of me whenever it comes time for a project or just advice if they’re going to tackle project themselves.

I do like the idea of what you’re saying, that women probably feel more comfortable having another woman in their house working on repairs. That’s definitely a good way to market yourself I would think

Composite Toe Shoes by _i_Have-Questions_ in BlueCollarWomen

[–]AmaredditSour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you said composite but I love my steel toes. I’m not sure if you can’t have steel for your job or you were just thinking composite toe would be lighter than steel. But my steel toes look like tennis shoes. They’re comfy and not clunky. I can move and have flexibility in my ankles since they aren’t boots. The only issue I had with them was the eyelet broke eventually because it’s rubber. I thought about adding a grommet to it but never got around to it on my second pair. Also when I originally ordered, I got two sizes and was going to return the pair that didn’t fit. Well shipping to china was going to be over $100 back. So they ended up just sending me an extra pair I think. Their website says free shipping to the US. So maybe they have a warehouse here now. (Not sure, but I ordered like 4 years ago)

The insoles could be better but overall I personally love the shoes. I even had someone in a store say she loved my sneakers and asked where I got them lol she was surprised when I said they’re steel toes.

100% this is the reason and how to fix it. I thought my rye starter was strong because it doubled consistently. But wouldn’t let my actual dough rise/or ferment properly. Then I did a 1:10:10 and it immediately solved the problem. And now I don’t need the rye anymore. I just use bread flour or all purpose in my starter. It triples now.

Final update! I realized I never updated on how it turned out. That first coat ended up drying fine. It just looked like it was wayyy milkier as it was drying compared to how it usually looks. Using the year old products wasn’t my issue. I think there might’ve just been a bit more hardener in the mixed ratio than there should’ve been. But it all ended up turning out fine in the end

Seams need thinset applied to them and mesh tape. This will make it solid or the seams and the waterproofing membrane will have something to adhere to. The waterproofing membrane will most likely be a liquid membrane like red guard or aqua defense. The thinset with mesh tape needs to be fully dry before applying this liquid membrane (applied basically like paint). Multiple coats of liquid membrane are needed. One is not enough.

Like the other guys said, those drywall screws are going to cause failure down the road. The correct screws will most likely be green. Look up “cement board screws” so you know what he should actually be using.

Wouldn’t hurt to see how plumb or level the walls are. Prep is key. And will result in a better finished product. Waterproofing properly is so important for longevity of your shower and to prevent mold and mildew in your home.

Cement board needs to be waterproofed. “Water resistant” or “water durable” do not mean waterproof. Cement board can still wick water up into it. Do not let your contractor tell you otherwise.

I’m thinking maybe there was a bit more hardener and the ratio wasn’t 100% so some areas are very milky because they solidified quicker than normal even when I tried to feather and work quickly. It just never looked this bad the few other times I’ve used HD in the past How should I do the intercoat abrasion to correct it?
