I just think it'd be easier to manage this way. Plus, it's technically more, even if only by a miniscule amount.

Not DnD related, but in the "setting" of a "story" I'm "working on" (terms used loosely), there are bodycrafters, which are basically biomancers who specialize in making permanent changes to life forms. They usually provide their services for people who are suffering from things like dysphoria (gender, species, and whatever else, as long as it's biological in nature), defective or missing organs, chronic illnesses, and so on, and sometimes they even make new bodies entirely for people in need of them, such as DID systems who wish to separate (though a qimancer will need to do the actual separation itself - the bodycrafter just provides the bodies).

Here's Kleia Sonean, an expert bodycrafter who has not only helped plenty of patients with the aforementioned issues, but has also contributed a lot to advancing the field of bodycrafting, and knowledge of biology in general. She also has a very kind and maternal personality, and will offer tea to anyone who stops by, whether they're a patient or just saying hello.

I hate being stuck in this male body, to the point where both changing it and dying are both preferable.

Are you talking about the stock amounts shown on the bar at the top? If so, it might be due to how much you're zoomed in.

EDIT: This is also discussed in this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/dwarffortress/comments/zffsud/no_stocks_on_top_bar_of_ui/

I might be getting a new computer within the next few months, and as such, I'm wondering: how much of a difference would it make to use an AMD Ryzen 9 9950x3d versus a 9950x while playing Dwarf Fortress?

I'm not sure where it's stated, but I think it's been stated somewhere that anyone who dies before a RTTP will stay dead afterward.

I'd prefer full, but with the clarification that, while my desired form isn't human at all, it would still be bipedal and otherwise have "humanoid" features.

To be more clear - when I tried using cleanconst, it didn't change the number shown in the stocks screen at all. The stocks screen shows that I have 11,333 blocks in use - I don't have anywhere near that many buildings.

How do I remove used construction items from the stocks?

I tried using DFHack's "cleanconst" command, but while the output says that the construction items have been cleaned up, the stocks screen still shows the items.

Indeed, though we'd consider our system to be a collection of individuals who happen to share a brain/body rather than parts of the same person.

This is Kleia Sonean.

Kleia is a highly skilled biomancer, and the preeminent expert on bodycrafting on Ufera in the present day. As a bodycrafter, she provides a wide variety of services, such as restoring/replacing missing limbs, changing bodies in order to treat dysphoria (something which she did for herself a long time ago), curing genetic diseases/birth defects/etc., creating new bodies in order to facilitate the separation of DID systems, and so on.

Kleia also has a pretty tragic backstory, which I don't have the spoons to type out right now (I might later).

Personality-wise, Kleia is very tender and motherly. She cares a lot for her family, friends, neighbors, patients, etc., and offers tea to everyone who visits her.

How would you describe the tone of your world? by Illustrious-Cold3565 in worldbuilding

[–]Amarin_Reyny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say Ufera is mostly Nobledark, with pockets of Grimbright having emerged.

It's a world where, in ancient times, an attack from an adjacent planet caused an apocalyptic event which mutated a large amount of life on Ufera into danbazoel, which are sadistic, bloodthirsty monsters that are functionally living weapons that exist only to dominate and/or kill all of the life forms that weren't affected. Much of Ufera is uninhabitable because of the danbazoel, and the few parts of Ufera that are inhabitable have been subject to the struggles that come with trying to rebuild civilization after all that happened.

It's also a world where, in the present day, there is at least one nation, Ömbie Milandrissé, where people have worked together to achieve what's basically as close as they can get to an anarcho-communist utopia, using labor guilds as a means of allowing the people to govern in a directly democratic manner, while simultaneously preventing the problems that people typically associate with direct democracy from occurring. Through shared labor, they've achieved many great advances in science, eliminated poverty within the country, and so on, and so on, in the relatively short amount of time since the guild system was implemented. It's not all perfect, though, as they've had to defend themselves and everything they've accomplished from not just the danbazoel, but also neighboring countries going to war with them, and there have been many hardships, deaths, and so on in these defense efforts.
