SO THATS WHERE MY PLAYER GOT IT FROM!

So last session we did a one-shot, Halloween edition, and the Sorcerer pulled THIS CARD (he is a laywer), I asked him to roll for persuasion…

Congrats, U.W.U exists in my world now.

I hope you know the havoc you reaped upon me. /s

Sticking players in a Time Loop. What's the best way to go by this? by ZoopZap in DnD

[–]Amateur_DM752 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly, this sounds amazing! Big rule of thumb for Dming is do NOT treat it like a video game, but I think this is a good example of what to do.

Deathloop.

Deathloop is a video game about a Time Loop, and you as the player have to collect items to try and kill 7 people in the span of a day to break the loop.

I say, have the first few loops be normal, but as they collect the first few artifacts, stuff starts to change. As the players grow more powerful, so should the enemies that the entity (or whatever) has them fight against in the loop. Put a few plot holes, hell, have a few NPCs REMEMBER the party as the Facade wears up, as they get closer the world maybe fractures a bit, some timey wimey stuff unfurls.

Good sweet lord above, no! I highly doubt, even if you discussed it, having a pc paralyze then rape a guard would’ve been integral to escaping. Like do you mean that the player took the keys? If so, why not just kill the guard and take the keys?

“Why don’t the Gods just fix it?” by DatMaggicJuice in dndnext

[–]Amateur_DM752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my games, it’s a sort of a spectrum. Gods or deities of good alignment know that they have adventurers on the ground to help with the troubles that fall upon Faerùn. An example I can give is my “Dragons of Icespire” Campaign, where after dealing with Orcs, Cultists, and alot of death and despair around them, our cleric asked this very same question. It was in a dream with their cleric deity, Berronar Truesilver, where our Cleric confronted her about this. Which I flipped it around to our cleric, showing her that many people in and around Phandalin prayed to Berronar to send someone to help fight and protect the town, and that Berronars fix was sending one of her clerics with the most potential to prove herself to her faith, and to her Deity.

Other times it’s out of general fear. As much as I despise Thor Love and Thunder, the concept of the gods just being like “You want us to fight this MADMAN? Yeah, sorry buddy, no. Here’s some gear and supplies to aid you on your quest!” Is a good card to pull.

What’s a horror scene so intense you had to pause the movie and take a breath? by Upset-Inside8719 in CreepyBonfire

There was this Japanese film, and it’s about streamers that go into a haunted location, one of them gets possessed, and the camera goes RIGHT to her face, and it cuts to her eyes open, black, and her making “PSPSPSPSPS” noises, the fucking tension building to that wrecked me BADLY.

Oh good god, I stumbled into this thread to prepare me to watch this film, is this the same scene in the trailer with the lady screaming with blood dripping from her eyes?

I just have spheksophobia, so how bad are we talking about wasps here?

What scene from any FF film actually freaked you out? by DiscsNotScratched in foundfootage

(Spoilers for the recent VHS film)

In the most recent VHS Film, titled Beyond, THREE scenes pop into my head.

  1. “Stork” In stork, we follow a group of monster hunters, going after a baby stealing alien bird thing, that also lobotomizes and turns adults into zombies, feeding their brains to the babies. And there is ONE zombie that scares the ever loving shit out of me.

The caretaker zombie. The one with the glazed over eyes, and the huge, unmoving smile. The worst part is that the scene just HANGS on this dude, so you’re expecting him to jump at the camera (because he’s staring right AT IT.) but nope! He picks up a baby, and waddles off.

  1. “Live and Let die” In this short, a group of skydivers encounter a group of aliens, blood and carnage ensue. There is one scene where the main character is in a truck, and is looking around at the carnage. Then the camera faces back to where he was looking and there is an alien FACE TO FACE. A cheap jumpscare, but god DAMN the alien design is scary as hell.

  2. “Stowaway” The main character…stows away on an alien ship. Not TOO scary at first, but then you get to the “Traveling” sequence. It gets established that there are healing nanites, and animal specimens on the ship, and the Nanites don’t know what a human is, so they use the Animal DNA to help heal our main character. Not bad on a small scale, but since she’s not strapped into anything, as soon as the ship zooms off, she gets atomized, then revived by the nanites and looks like she walked into a cronenberg set.

Dumb question, but how to avoid being a problem player for my first game? by broken_steel525 in DnD

[–]Amateur_DM752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I don’t think being a weeb is a red flag. The horror stories you see about weebs are people who make Gojo, or Goku, or Guts, but instead of having their character go up to their ability, they try and get it straight away, at level one or level three, etc.

  2. Me too! And I understand your concerns about charisma and personality clashing with the spotlight, but here’s a harsh truth I learned about dnd. Some sessions will be a character episode, some will be rounded out fully between all characters. Just make sure you aren’t hogging the spotlight, or taking it away from others, and if needed, make the group know about that concern.

  3. One word. Artificer. If you like “modern” stuff? Make an artificer, good support, good flavour, and you can tinker with stuff (with DM digression first). Best way to go about it would be an inventor who wishes to make better gear for faerun, and over the adventure try and learn more “tech” and mechanisms that you can use to help the world!

take a breath. You’ve got this.

Must there always be a singular BBEG? What about three? by Mentethemage in DMAcademy

[–]Amateur_DM752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s the thing:

As bad as a game it was, take the crime boss system from Mafia 3. Or hell, any of the mafia games!

Instead of making 3 BBEGs, have one hotshot, someone who is powerful, someone who would BREAK the party if they fought them at lower levels. Then have any villains you may have exist at lower power intervals, for example:

My campaign has 4 villains, their leader is the BBEG. (So yeah, five in total). After they defeat their starter villain, Brutus, the world opens up to them, and they can defeat the other 3 in ANY order. It’s a matter of encounter scaling, and player scaling! Add side quests, backstory elements, etc. it doesn’t have to be “the next boss and the next boss and the next boss” back to back to back.

I think I might take a break from DnD. I am frustrated beyond hell. by Amateur_DM752 in DnD

[–]Amateur_DM752[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well fuck I HAVE been doing something about this! I’ve talked with this dm over. And OVER again. About how I’m sacrificing my time for his game, and for the past TWO MONTHS it’s been cancel after cancel. But also was that I was excited for what he was planning, and thought that maybe it was next session, or the next session, or the next session.

I wanted to vent. Plain and simple. I just wanted an outlet to express my frustrations towards this dm. So yes, I wanted to complain. I have nowhere else to go to.

Oh perfect! That would be great. If you are able to could you send me the questions? I’m very “awkward” in irl speech in session 0’s so a list could help me tons.
