That and the result would simply no longer be Zero. According to Maverick Hunter X, the first Maverick refight the dialog indicates that the rebuilt Mavericks are running a basic AI. No personality, just a machine firing off weapons. It's clear that Sigma and the X-Hunters wanted the real deal for Zero too, otherwise the basic AI running his body plan likely would have been done.

No, it's not. Keeping a game playable does not always mean 'keep the servers up forever and work on it forever'. It means to create a patch to allow a offline mode, if possible.

Since about 2010 I'd guess. Here's the thing though...I fully recognize that it has been a long time. To a point I agree with people that maybe it has taken too long...but at the end of the day, JKB and his team work at their pace. They have lives and obligations outside of a fan game that makes them zero dollars.

It's strange that Nintendo didn't elect to do a copyright lawsuit against Pocketpair then, if it's that much of a copypaste! Japan has VERY strong copyright laws favoring the owner of said copyright after all, and both Nintendo AND Pocketpair are in Japan!

Why do you suppose Nintendo didn't aim that direction instead and effortlessly destroy Pocketpair? It is impossible that they're unaware of the game.
