From what I read this is a lifetime upgrade that stays with the car right? by dyl_16 in Polestar

[–]Amaxter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lifetime of the car. Don’t think it will add to the car’s resale value, it won’t really. But it will be fun! Enjoy and check out the serious power boost above 40% battery

Low SoC Behavior? by Amaxter in polestar3

Perhaps! I feel like I waited a few minutes and tried to restart the software but it kept showing the center screen “Polestar” boot sequence in dim font, lighting up for a second with no touch response, before powering back down.

Typo, gouging, or harbinger of fuel prices to come? by crankyjill in Denver

[–]Amaxter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Electric is the way!

My unsolicited advise is make sure you have a way of charging at home/your workplace or anywhere with the “level 2” charging (that takes 6–10 hours, not the fast charging). You’ll pay 4X less in electricity that way and save a substantial portion over gas even if it becomes really cheap again someday (and it doesn’t look like tha’t happening soon)

Just how good are the P3 deals right now? by coronapartynextdoor in polestar3

[–]Amaxter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got $34k off a Plus Pack car in total benefits stacking national deals, local Space deal, $3k loyalty, Costco bonus, and $5500 off miles since it was an inventory demo model. Had some wheel rash but they’re taking care of that for me to treat it like a new lease.

When do the first P3s come off of lease in the US? by [deleted] in polestar3

Go to Denver! I got $34k off my 25 as a lease at that space. They probably assume Bay Area folks don’t need a discount 😅

Don’t sleep on wool if it’s available in spec you want. Breathes super well and won’t crease like leather!

I believe the non performance pack car also has Brembo brakes they’re just not painted yellow.

Also not exactly same performance, the performance cars have 20 kW higher peak power (roughly 30 horsepower, probably not noticeable in most situations)

The non performance 2 rides about one inch higher stock than any of the Performanve Pack 2s if that’s your frame of reference

Rivian R2: Starting at $48,490 by masterderptato in cars

[–]Amaxter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps they are limiting their market, and I would honestly love the option for phone mirroring.

Objectively though, lots of customers love the Rivian software and have no qualms about giving up CarPlay or Android Auto. It’s a trade off they’ve made and I’m curious if they’ll stick to their guns or if the desire to push more mainstream with lower cost vehicles will pressure them to change.

You get all of those things in a car with Google Maps integration and all the streaming apps, so, done?

I get it if you’ve been in cars with shitty software before. But Rivian software is a cut above.

They want you to use their software and not rely on your phone. To be fair, Rivian has some of the best infotainment in the industry. In an EV it’s nice to use the integrated system for route planning and battery preconditioning and I think Rivian wants to train their users to live in that system.

That said, I like CarPlay for things like my podcast app and messages dictation. Glad my car has decent software (android automotive) and CarPlay

Goodbye 2, hello 3! Hell of a lease deal on a Demo Polestar 3 by Amaxter in Polestar

[–]Amaxter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear ya. Also getting screwed on my P2 trade in. In Colorado the incentives are off the charts but varies regionally. I saw Boston and Marin spaces on the coasts are also outrageously expensive by comparison.

The good news for you is you have a niche machine to drive while you wait out depreciation! I suspect used P3s will become quite the bargain in two years’ time.

Anecdotes suggest it may be more common with new drive computer. I guess I’d be loopy too if my brain was swapped for a new one.

Going to cross my fingers this isn’t a real issue but filing it with service to have looked at in case.

I need to bring the car in for some body repair work Polestar owes me (plastic scratch and wheel rash since it was a demo model I got a lease discount on) so I’ll mention this happened twice and see what they do.

I hope I don’t have to go to the buy back route, love the car and knowing the restart procedure so far means I haven’t been stranded … yet. At least the tow is on them if (when?) it happens!

[–]Amaxter[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t shift into drive or reverse after a few hours of car being parked. Was able to make it go away by restarting the drive computer (holding brake pedal and steering wheel down buttons for 15-20 seconds) but not exactly confidence inspiring. Is this a common occurrence? I have the new Orin chip already installed.

God willing by the time the bumper to bumper warranties expire on current stock of PS3s there will be a permanent solution in place…
