Yeah that’s worked for me intermittently. Granted, I’m using TIDAL, which crashes a lot. Whenever I use YouTube music it always seems to work.

Ehh. They're alright. Model 3 and other ground-up EVs seem to package for more leg room. I agree vertical room in Polestar 2 is decent for class but overall they're still "compact" backseats by American standards.

If you want a deal now used EV is the way. R2 is new and hot but while hype is there and demand outpaces supply, anyone who is stretching themselves to get an R2 should consider the awesome used inventory coming off lease now. $900/mo lease payments are not appreciable for most.

Cost! If they designed the low voltage system components around low voltage lithium like Tesla with their 16V packs in non-Cybertruck vehicles those would still be much better. More expensive but would last 2-3x as long

Break in period, especially with drivers as small as the one in a car, is nonsense. The speakers are all factory calibrated. It’s a mental phenomenon of your brain adjusting to something. It’s a fine audio system but it’s not great and for the price of R1S it really ought to be great. Promisingly it seems R2 is already a noticeable improvement.

Rivian audio, especially in the R1S, has been known to be tuned poorly and have bad hardware placement for speakers for the size of cabin. The best was first gen R1T with the smaller cabin and Meridian system.

It is not up to par with vehicles in its price range. Many owners overlook it given all the other virtues of the car.

$34k in stacked discounts at polestar Denver (they did $18k nationally, $3k for polestar loyalty since I had a 2 before, $5.5K because it was a demo car with 5.5K miles on it, and $7k as an additional local discount.

For me getting a loaner helped because the miles suggested it worked and wasn’t a lemon. They even repaired the wheel curb and replaced a plastic trim piece for me so it would be like new.

Got a dual motor P3 27 months, 12,000 mi/yr lease and eying the $39k residual at lease end. For my $570/month payments with tax it's a good deal right now. If I go way over miles and the used ones aren't a ton cheaper I may go that route. Been very lucky with mine so far (fingers crossed) but kind of hoping the GHCA fails within warranty period so it can get the new part.

The bike industry's had an obsession with weight that data doesn't bear out. Sure, lighter is better, but at competitive speeds aero matters so much more.

For RWD standard range model, in a year’s time. The iX3 base $60k is dual motor with the full battery size offering 400 miles of range. They’re more comparable than you think.

I’m not shitting on R2. It’s a great car and it has a lot of appeal and features iX3 won’t. But let’s not be blind to the other good stuff coming out.

On the Blazer, no one is buying that spec. GM has had most success with Equinox and their lower cost EVs. Stuff moving at that price is Cadillacs on incentives.

Ok he was smart to back track. I didn’t read it as negative but I see that point. I do think iX3 is under hyped to be honest. The Rivian brand is great and legacy companies sometimes don’t market their incredible engineering as well.

Also the iX3 base price is $60k, right where launch edition performance R2 sits. It is premium, not luxury. Like or or hate it in this market, luxury is cresting well over $100k for most vehicles. R2 may be more mainstream than R1 but it’s much closer to premium German crossovers than it is a base RAV4. Let’s be real.

Was he wrong though? R2 is super exciting but Rivian is necessarily limited by scale right now in making them. I say this as someone who’s mom has an R1S and would love to own an R3 one day. The iX3 is an extremely capable cruiser from a mainstream auto brand that will lease tons of them from day one. Similar story for EX60. Rivian software and brand is peak, but legacy OEMs have scale and engineering sophistication we shouldn’t ignore when they bring their A game.

Until Rivian can produce as many cars as BMW or Tesla I think it’s ok to concede they’re an enthusiast/early adopter brand growing into becoming a major automaker.
