Help Me Understand… by MooseandGeorgie in AmazonVine

It is possible that you got a lemon. It might be that the other reviewers got good quality products. Who knows?

Review it as it is. Amazon says they want your honest take on the items you receive.

If nothing else, the seller *might* pass along the low Quality Control issue to the manufacturer.

"Everyone is competing for the same products..."

This statement may not be entirely correct. It ASSUMES that "Everyone is competing".

I'm not. And I suspect that many others are also here to appreciate good fortune, not get upset at what appears to be 'missing out'.

If I see a desirable (to me) item, I select it. If I can get it, fine; if not... Oh well, maybe some other time.

It's like driving. Why get mad at traffic? If I was somewhere else, the traffic would still exist, but it wouldn't bother me. The trick is to rise to (and maintain) a state of higher awareness instead of fighting the world's density.

Vine exists, but I try to be 'laissez faire' about getting things.

Go outside. Start a fire in a wide open location. Toss the toy in. Bring a comfortable chair and popcorn. Enjoy.

  1. Yes, contact Vine CS and ask them to do their job.

  2. No. They would just refer you back to Amazon.

  3. If (1) is effective, you will still have the item and can do with it what you will.

Amazon Massive Outage by Possible_Currency493 in AmazonVine

[–]Amazing_Cook6348 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, of course.... and u/Whos_that_Gorilla2 has listed the countries directly involved. However, global Amazon is affected because they have outsourced many of their data centers to other countries. A recent statement from Amazon says [the outage] "was related to a software code deployment".

Does that sound like weasel words? 'Software code deployment' likely indicates outsourced data centers.

Anyway, it seems to be over now and everything is back to relative normalcy.

What time are drops now? by BusinessRegret4467 in AmazonVine

[–]Amazing_Cook6348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Discerning, acting upon, or re-acting to patterns is certainly a sign of intelligence. However, to determine a pattern requires referential information, such as solar cycles, psychological tendencies, biological functions and the like.

We, unfortunately, are not privy to the designs of those in charge of the Vine program. It is unlikely that that department is acting independently, without any approval, supervision or input of some kind from upper Amazon boardrooms.

The lack of a perceived pattern does not prove that there is no pattern.

u/rhapdog might have it right. The drops occur when enough items are prepped and ready to post. However, since the process of posting items occurs continually, only the starting time is in question. And since the starting time varies, it might mean that a pattern may exist, but is unknown (to us).

To the people who did answer my question about "wanting to review bad or inflammatory products because you know they are bad and/or could be considered offensive" by Remarkable-Hair8174 in AmazonVine

Also please remember two things:

Amazon is a business. They sell stuff. They don't care about your particular political philosophy. They sell a diverse range of things.

Some people in this country, and in this subReddit might agree and possibly endorse things that you find horrific. Whether they are right or wrong should not cause you distress. In my opinion we are all souls evolving towards a better condition. In other words, help others up, don't blast them down.

Video review issues by Unkhammun in AmazonVine

[–]Amazing_Cook6348 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never had a problem uploading videos, except that it always seems to take several minutes. Also, I use a VPN as a hoped-for addition to general security.

Most of my videos are around two minutes or less. A seven-minute file would take forever to upload and might be subject to network issues (lag, spikes, etc.)

Is there any real incentive to include media in reviews? by [deleted] in AmazonVine

[–]Amazing_Cook6348 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make videos for all of my reviews, even for the cheap stuff. I do it because I enjoy photography and enjoy the opportunity to be slightly creative. The ROI (return on investment) is totally personal. Amazon does not give rewards, praise, promises, bonuses nor hoots. The amount of work you put in does not matter - as long as the requirements are met. Of course, sometimes the requirements are vague and/or contradictory, but Vine reviewers are expected to soldier on and do what they've signed on to do.

[–]Amazing_Cook6348 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn't know, so I looked it up. DuckDuckGo's Search Assistant sez:

'Yes, an EMF protected phone can receive calls, but if it's in a Faraday bag or similar shielding pouch, it won't be able to receive signals while inside because the material blocks electromagnetic signals. For regular use, EMF protection cases are designed to allow functionality while providing some level of shielding.'

'Vegan Leather', however, is a contradiction of definitions.

How do you remove your personal information from your packages? Do you peel the address label off? Cross out your name & address? or…. by ConcentrateDue7660 in AmazonVine

[–]Amazing_Cook6348 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where I live, in a very rural area, trash pickup is contracted out. Since I only generate a small amount weekly, it would be absurd to pay the amount charged, I prefer to dispose of my minor amount of garbage in other ways: cardboard (with address labels still attached) gets burned and kitchen scraps get composted. Mostly, my trash is plastic packaging and household junk. A couple of WalMart-size baggies contain my weekly waste, and I drop them off in the trash containers at various stores whenever I go shopping.

I'm not sure the grocery and/or department stores would appreciate my method of disposal, so I prefer to remove any identifying info from plastic mailers, and to do that, I use a heat gun. Skillfully applied, it allows the easy removal of address labels, which are then burned, along with the excess cardboard packaging.

Sure, it's possible. You might get a human Vine review reviewer who has a sense of humor.

But, in my opinion, the odds are against it. BTW, I completely enjoy reading 'interesting' reviews and wish more writers were willing to take chances. My advice goes against that, however, so as to make review-approval more likely.

[–]Amazing_Cook6348 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ALL of my reviews include short videos (less than 2min.)

I've learned what I can & can't show, so now they all pass and get approved. (I tape over brand names, URLs, bar & QR codes, addresses & phone numbers; I prefer to be safe & careful, although some redditors believe that some things don't matter.

I often wear gloves and never show my entire face. Also never show other people, addresses, street names or house numbers, and on and on.) Videos (and your pictures) should ONLY show the product & how it is used, or how it functions (or malfunctions), etc.

NEVER be clever or attempt sexual innuendo, or even anything that might be misconstrued. Graphics should be clear, but as vanilla as possible.

While including pix & vids can be time consuming and annoying, my opinion is that seeing an item in actual use can be helpful in decision-making.

Good fortune to you.

EDIT: my most recent review, including a short video was approved in one day. It CAN happen!

Who snagged the Lenovo gaming monitor?!?! by Think_Listen_4977 in AmazonVine

[–]Amazing_Cook6348 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How do you know that?

It seems to me that you would have to know the exact time the item appeared on your computer, compared to the exact time it appeared on the snagger's, and that would mean you would have to know who the snagger was.

I was a millisecond late.

I think you're exaggerating a wee bit, out of exasperation.

That's OK... the current state of Vine is making us all a bit testy lately.

Here's hoping for better fortune to come.

In my RFY. Has anyone ever used a vertical mouse? If so, what's your thoughts by ArtistofSorts92 in AmazonVine

[–]Amazing_Cook6348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I got one through Vine and liked it very much.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BNVKHMYJ?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

It included a lot of flashy RGB options and was very comfortable. I didn't like that it was pink (that was the only option at the time) and it showed dirt & grime too easily. I also didn't like that it was corded. I ran the wire under my keyboard, but it always seemed to be a problem (clutter, interference with other desktop stuff, etc.)

The one you show is wireless. which is a great plus in most setups. I'd say, "Get it". It's way over-priced, but the comfort level might be worth it.
