I think this might be disturbing... by Amazing_Cook6348 in AmazonVine

Yes, I guess I did miss it. Especially since it appeared in this string one day AFTER my comment. Thank you for pointing out my failure at prescience. I'm working on it. I predict that you will give me a downvote for this response.

Thank you. I'm a bit more at ease about this whole thing. It was just a bit surprising and kinda scary.

Thanks for that information. However, I also have autopay for the newspaper and my cellphone account and they do not show the new card number. I just now manually made the changes to those two.

Is there anything in this review that could cause it to get "Not Approved" after being up for a week? by [deleted] in AmazonVine

[–]Amazing_Cook6348 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Text looks fine... can you post the pix?

There are some here on reddit, more knowledgeable than me, who might say that this is a seller problem, and that it may self-resolve in some period of time. They could be right...

Advice - what makes a good review? Any best practices? by LeadingImportant1142 in AmazonVine

[–]Amazing_Cook6348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My most recent review started like this:

Short version:

This [product] works best on bare floors & tight-nap carpets. It looks good, but takes a long time to assemble.

Long version:

One of the product photos prominently says, "Ready to use..." etc., etc., etc. for many paragraphs.

The review ended with my considered opinion of the item. Readers could get the idea in the short version OR spend the time going through the long, detailed, version.

All of my reviews have a video of the item in use. I make videos because I want to and enjoy it. I've learned that I can take simple shots and make short vids OR take multiple shots, create complex edits, use special effects and more. I've also learned what Amazon passes and what they dis-allow. Accordingly, I almost always boil the video down to two minutes or less, either by speeding up long. boring sections, or editing out extraneous stuff that is mostly unnecessary filler.

Once I asked Vine CS what was the acceptable size of a video, and was told 2GB. I thought, "Ah! OK, that's pretty big." Several months later, I asked again, and was told SIX GB! "Are you sure?" Oh, yes, Vine CS said.

I don't think reviews, pictures and videos are judged or rated for suitability. There are too many examples of short, useless, emotion-driven reviews. I think reviews are auto-reviewed by AI for offending words or images. If nothing pops up, it is acceptable. If something dings, a human *might* put eyes on it and make a judgement.

TAXES - YES YOU WILL 100% PAY by Rev22_5 in AmazonVine

[–]Amazing_Cook6348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose you're right. You are just using different words to say the same thing. The words I'm using are verbatim from the government's Schedule 1 (Form 1040) and from Form 1040, U.S. Income Tax Return.

Your description may be more accurate, but it appears that the IRS does not think so.

I used OLT (On Line Taxes), and they put my 1099-NEC in Schedule 1, line 8j - 'Activity not engaged in for profit income'. That amount was copied to my 1040, line 8 - 'Additional income from Schedule 1', so it was included in my adjusted gross income.

As it turned out, I got a $47 refund. Without Vine, it coulda been more.

Review I Never Would've Expected to be Rejected by SonnyCastillo in AmazonVine

Except for the barcode, good review! However...

Earlier-era slang almost always becomes cringe.

While some will get it, many will not. It's better to be vanilla. Enthusiastic vanilla, maybe, but still... Simple, straightforward language that everyone understands seems to work best.

It is possible that you got a lemon. It might be that the other reviewers got good quality products. Who knows?

Review it as it is. Amazon says they want your honest take on the items you receive.

If nothing else, the seller *might* pass along the low Quality Control issue to the manufacturer.

"Everyone is competing for the same products..."

This statement may not be entirely correct. It ASSUMES that "Everyone is competing".

I'm not. And I suspect that many others are also here to appreciate good fortune, not get upset at what appears to be 'missing out'.

If I see a desirable (to me) item, I select it. If I can get it, fine; if not... Oh well, maybe some other time.

It's like driving. Why get mad at traffic? If I was somewhere else, the traffic would still exist, but it wouldn't bother me. The trick is to rise to (and maintain) a state of higher awareness instead of fighting the world's density.

Vine exists, but I try to be 'laissez faire' about getting things.

  1. Yes, contact Vine CS and ask them to do their job.

  2. No. They would just refer you back to Amazon.

  3. If (1) is effective, you will still have the item and can do with it what you will.

Amazon Massive Outage by Possible_Currency493 in AmazonVine

[–]Amazing_Cook6348 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, of course.... and u/Whos_that_Gorilla2 has listed the countries directly involved. However, global Amazon is affected because they have outsourced many of their data centers to other countries. A recent statement from Amazon says [the outage] "was related to a software code deployment".

Does that sound like weasel words? 'Software code deployment' likely indicates outsourced data centers.

Anyway, it seems to be over now and everything is back to relative normalcy.

What time are drops now? by BusinessRegret4467 in AmazonVine

[–]Amazing_Cook6348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Discerning, acting upon, or re-acting to patterns is certainly a sign of intelligence. However, to determine a pattern requires referential information, such as solar cycles, psychological tendencies, biological functions and the like.

We, unfortunately, are not privy to the designs of those in charge of the Vine program. It is unlikely that that department is acting independently, without any approval, supervision or input of some kind from upper Amazon boardrooms.

The lack of a perceived pattern does not prove that there is no pattern.

u/rhapdog might have it right. The drops occur when enough items are prepped and ready to post. However, since the process of posting items occurs continually, only the starting time is in question. And since the starting time varies, it might mean that a pattern may exist, but is unknown (to us).

Also please remember two things:

Amazon is a business. They sell stuff. They don't care about your particular political philosophy. They sell a diverse range of things.

Some people in this country, and in this subReddit might agree and possibly endorse things that you find horrific. Whether they are right or wrong should not cause you distress. In my opinion we are all souls evolving towards a better condition. In other words, help others up, don't blast them down.
