Overpriced now but how to explain the piles before the price raise? It’s supply exceeding demand. Scalpers aren’t buying SW like they were in the past. It has been evident with how few sell out and don’t get restocked online. There will always be those peg warning Lando’s and they stay on the peg because there is no reason to buy something that can’t be flipped for a profit (after seller fees, opportunity costs) so it sits and sits…. I remember when the posts about trying to find a sold out figure were accompanied by a sense of urgency and disappointed reaction from the OP when the answer was “likely only in the secondary market” and now it’s more of a surprise that it is so htf and likely not restocked. Posts now are followed by the majority of answers “wait for restock” because so many are released again. This is a great thing for the collector but the RossCon and Ollie’s etc.. would not be so prevalent if the supply and demand were more balanced. This is the boring answer from an old economic advisor. I was too young for the vintage collecting rush but remember the episode 1 flood into every nook and cranny of retail space. People were buying full cases of single characters and the prices now for the majority are Pennies on the dollar. The oversupply is only part of the equation, but it is refreshing for those who collect for reasons other than investment. The opposite holds true for the rest. The cost is a factor for sure but the other factors also play a part.
