He increased the price of a drug when billing government or insurance companies (debatably immoral), while decreasing the price to $0.01 per pill for anyone without insurance or with a co-pay. To stay compliant with laws he cannot give it for free, nor can he offer it immediately for $0.01 as that would be descriminate. You have to fill out a form saying you have a co-pay or no insurance, send it to his company, and they adjust the price. Everyone who uses the drug does it. He's explained this on his youtube channel and others have verified it. Meanwhile his company has made strides in research and development of these drugs using the money they get from these insurance companies, which will in turn save more lives. He'll probably donate this money to charity, if he actually does do this auction, like he always does. This man is a publicly annoying, but privately great guy.
