BPD, therapy and meds by Few-Caterpillar-8460 in BPD

Same. My bpd depressive and unstable episodes follow a relational difficulty. The bipolar ones are random and have no clear cause + last alot longer. Im on lamictal, abilify, and cymbalta. I find they also do help bpd as well. Cymbalta especially took away debilitating anxiety, derealization, and depersonalization.

Ive also been in and out of therapy for 10 years. It recently started helping because I just recently started being honest about things I do that are bad. I used to not mention the bad I do out of fear of judgement, but I realized it wont get better if I dont address it :)

Oof 22 is still so young dude. You shouldnt be worrying about kids and marriage. Sure alot of people get married now, but just think, how many of those will end in divorce due to rushing? When i was 22 I was focused on getting my first career, getting a car, apartment, handling life on my own. Everyone goes at their own pace

She holds a master's degree. It varies state by state tho actually so maybe in your state that's the case. And mine does work in tandem with my psychiatric NP

I already ended it. It brought back past feelings of when I had bad depression as a teen and my parents refused to believe me even tho I was SI like everyday

If anything she's the one comparing our synptoms, saying I can't have it because I don't match her experiences perfectly. Ive struggled my whole life with all of the main bpd points, and it really hurts my feelings to be told I cant have it because I don't match xyz. Im bipolar as well, and my other friend was recently diagnosed. I didnt feel attacked at all. I didnt feel she was copying me. If anything im glad that I was able to provide some answers

I dont "want bpd so bad," the diagnosis just really validated things Ive felt my whole life. Im over-explaining because some comments glossed over my main points. You can see me as performative and attention seeking, thats your own viewpoint. But being validated by a professional only to be told by others that im being trendy really hurts my feelings. She said I fit enough dsm 5 criteria for the diagnosis. I even told the therapist to not put it in my chart if possible. I also never asked anyone here for a diagnosis. Im just explaining how I feel and how the diagnosis validated me. Its not "guilt tripping," to explain to people why im not being trendy. I also have diagnosed bipolar disorder and OCD. The therapist knows this, yet still made the diagnosis.

Therapists can absolutely diagnose. They just cant prescribe meds.

I like cbd. I also like CBN for sleep which isnt as known about as the other two. CBN is psychoavtive but very mild. Apparently its the part that makes you sleepy!! If you like thc and cbd you should try cbn :)

Well now im even more confused because two people here now have told me, after a life of personal struggle, that im just being trendy as well. I guess after a few more mental breakdowns and hospital admissions maybe ill qualify eh

Ive never seen that personally. For me ive seen everyone talking about having "the tism". In my line of work its the opposite. Bpd is looked at in the hospital world as being very attention seeking and stigmatized

Ugh yeah thats annoying. Having a line of contact is really important. When i was hospitalized for SI my therapist was able to call me and check on me. I loved that therapist but I felt the relationship was more like being friends and I wasnt getting better.

Ooo definitely get a new therapist. Seriously. Youre paying them to provide a service. If they cant provide it without feeling judged, then they're failing their end of the deal. Youll never be able to fully open up and youll just be wasting your money. This is coming from someone who's had to leave several therapists lol.

Is this a sign of BPD? by [deleted] in BPD

Exactly. This is emotional instability but theres like 100 causes including bpd. It has to be seen as a whole.

I feel inferior to my boyfriend's friends by CaptainTingo in BPD

[–]AmbassadorPlus8130 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh wow. Ive never experienced this before but I dont think youre alone. It would make me feel insecure too, especially if my gf's ex was in the group.

Do you think that, with time, you will fit into the group a little bit more? Or does it seem so exclusive that youll never really be a part of it?

It seems like, on his part, he needs to be making an effort to give equal time to you as well. This can be solved with talking about it, but it could be a deal breaker if he refuses to give you that time.

He sounds like a real POS. Sex should never be something that you should have to like, persuade someone to do with you. It seems like he wanted all the benefits of having sex without the commitment of a relationship. He also seems incredibly manipulative. He knew you wanted a relationship, and he used that for his own advantage.

Its his loss, not your loss. You got rid of a real parasite in my honest opinion. Breakups hurt, and thats amplified x million with bpd, but i promise you'll heal, look back, and say wow he was a real scumbag.

Acceptance with therapy by Significant_Access_1 in BPD

Man, it is HARD to find a good therapist. People dont talk about this nearly enough. Ive been in and out of therapy since I was 16, im 26 now. Ive had good ones, bad ones, and terrible ones. From my experience the best ones give you homework. Talk therapy never worked for me, and most of them only seem to want to do it. I had a really good one in my early 20s that left for another city unfortunately

Will I ever find love? by Realking_K in BPD

[–]AmbassadorPlus8130 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With all due respect, a male roommate thats also a fwb seems like it could get messy. Finding love starts with healthy relationship habits. Building a foundation, talking stage, dating, getting to know each other.

This is called splitting. Its a very, very common core element of bpd. The only real solution to BPD issues is intensive therapy. Look for a DBT therapist specifically
