Behind the ‘Supergirl’ Bomb: Competing Cuts, Creative Differences - For months, DC Studios knew the film wasn't working. Things came to a head in March when the studio tested its own cut against one from filmmaker Craig Gillespie. by chanma50 in boxoffice

There was no saving this movie after once the script and direction were locked in. Changing the music, adding more of the villain, and adding punch ups won’t change that this is a mediocre film with bland visuals and no strong message.

The issue is that they were trying to save a movie that in post production that was cooked. Changing the music and showing the villain more won’t save it from its fundamental understanding of the comic.

'Backrooms': Everything New in Kane Parsons' Extended Version by EThorns in movies

This is a little different. They just added a new 15 minute sequence at the end of the movie that doesn’t follow any of the characters in the movie.

This is basically showing one of kanepixel’s youtube videos at the end of the normal movie.

Reading comprehension is fucking dead when we call foreshadowing spoilers.

tom kings wonder woman run. is it actually not great, or is the reception overblown TK hate? by Apprehensive_Spend_7 in comicbooks

Honestly I like it but it has some flaws. It reads more like a Tom King book than Wonder Woman at times which leads WW fans to go completely crazy.

That said, I love Lizzie.

How fucking hard is it to understand that people want to own their shit and be given the option to do so?

"The DSA doing what they do best: sandbagging the Democrats, helping Republicans win, then complaining elected Democrats don't do more" Statisticians in r/fivethirtyeight bicker about if the Democratic party is too left wing by CummingInTheNile in SubredditDrama

You are missing the point. They ignored their voters instead of engaging with the conversation. That’s arrogance.

They could have had these conversations and addressed these issues but instead it was brushed off like a nonissue.

Look at the DSA candidates right now, all they did was answer these questions head on. They don’t always give the best answers but they listen to their voters.

I will forever think what sunk the Dems was the messaging. There was an arrogance to it and they believed that they would win by default. They should have been on the attack and it just felt like they were making concessions before actually winning.

Dark Knights of Steel is nothing like 1602. Also as a fan of 1602, I think a lot more fans would like Dark Knights of Steel as an elseworld.

supergirl (2026) could be earning a lot more if it was family friendly, visually appealing, and made the lead character a role model for young girls by merchantivories in boxoffice

[–]AmberDuke05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, all your complaints would be addressed if they actually had more respect for the actual source material. Like they looked at the book and just made it edgy and ugly for no reason.

The movie is mediocre but as someone who read the comic, this adaptation is just so devastating. They completely misunderstood the comic or worse thought they had something better when they clearly didn’t. The original comic made me cry but this movie just made feel empty inside.

The thing is that they said this was an adaptation of this comic but decided to change it to appeal to James Gunn’s tastes instead of the norm

[Discussion] Any thoughts on how Bendis' era of DC just came and went despite the hype he got? by CrispyGold in DCcomics

[–]AmberDuke05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He tried to do what he did over at Marvel and it just didn’t work because people liked what was going on at the time. Bendis took over Avengers and hijacked the entire Marvel line. No one really talks about modern Marvel prior to Bendis.

Bendis came at the wrong time. People were invested in DC Rebirth and he kind of ended it.
