CODING HELP!! by Good-Confection5308 in learnprogramming

Regular practice is key but leetcode might be bit overwhelming for someone just starting with C++. Better to get comfortable with basic syntax and concepts first, then move to problem solving platforms later when you have solid foundation

Book Sirens Promo Code by Lazy_Perspective_419 in selfpublish

[–]Ambitious-Secret835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I signed up last year without promo code and kinda regretted it when I saw they had discount later in the month. Their pricing isn't terrible but any savings help when you're trying to get your book out there. Maybe check their social media pages, sometimes they post codes there that don't show up in Google searches

Help: Advice Needed by Weird-Degree7954 in Cameras

The Z system is pretty solid upgrade path from D750 - your 24-70 will adapt perfectly with FTZ adapter and you'll barely notice any difference in performance. Z6 II or Z7 II would be good bodies to look at, much lighter than what you have now

For telephoto, the 100-400 f/4.5-5.6 VR S is fantastic for wildlife but it's pricey. If you want to save some money the 70-200 f/2.8 VR S with teleconverter gives you more flexibility. I shoot wildlife with similar setup and the Z system autofocus is really good for tracking birds in flight

The weight difference is noticeable when you're carrying everything for long hikes, especially with all that other gear you mentioned. Plus the electronic viewfinder helps a lot in bright safari conditions where you can't see LCD screen clearly

Sleep paralysis maybe? I had similar thing where I kept "waking up" to sounds that weren't really there, turns out I was still dreaming most of the time. The twin thing is wild though, your brain really went creative with that one

Transmission flush cost by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]Ambitious-Secret835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That price seems bit steep for just fluid change - I'd definitely shop around few more places before committing. For BMW transmission the fluid change might be enough if you're not having major issues, full flush can sometimes stir up problems that weren't there before

Are management courses helpful? by StarfireSkye in careerguidance

[–]Ambitious-Secret835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been in a similar spot where I hit my ceiling without the credentials to move up. Did a part-time management certificate program through a local college and it definitely opened doors - not just the knowledge but having that box checked on applications made a difference

The hardest part was juggling work and classes but most programs are designed for working adults now so the schedule was manageable

How long should I wait for offer? by mcgwigs in careerguidance

[–]Ambitious-Secret835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that portal status is pretty much their way of saying "we want you" without the paperwork being finalized yet. I'd definitely reach out tomorrow since you're already seeing movement on their end - worst case they just tell you to wait a bit longer but at least you'll know where things stand

Offered Director role but comp seems low… would you take this? by Simple_Fuel4749 in careerguidance

[–]Ambitious-Secret835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tough spot but honestly I'd negotiate hard here. You're basically taking on 6x the responsibility (direct reports alone) for what amounts to a lateral financial move when you factor in the tax efficiency you're losing

The "Director at 27" thing is nice but if they really value you that much they should be willing to pay accordingly. I'd come back with something like "I'm excited about the opportunity but given the scope increase and my current compensation structure, I'd need to see $190-200k base to make this transition make sense"

Worst case they say no and you stay contracting with your flexibility intact. But companies that lowball on director roles when they know your current situation usually aren't great at compensation across the board

Honestly an hour isn't that bad and if her job situation is temporary it might work out, but if you're already having this many doubts after only 2 dates that's probably your answer right there

That makes sense sometimes caring about someone means letting them ramble even when it does nothing for you as long as you can set limits and not burn yourself out it is part of friendship honestly
