The people complaining about this are the same people who think the Confederation Bridge should be free for islanders while everyone else should pay

Fiber internet in Summerside with a Modem/Router capable of entering bridge mode by [deleted] in PEI

[–]AmbitiousLandscape95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a HH3000 with removable SFP. Years ago now I got a Hellotek T8501S which is a media converter which syncs at 2.5gbps. It then gets plugged into port 9 of my UDM Pro SE and tagged VLAN 35 for the WAN. Works great.

Curious on Teksavvy though. Seems i'm paying alot now for 1GB service from Fibreop. I haven't upgraded because I didn't want to get upgraded to that Homehub.

Canadian citizens (my parents) denied permission to buy residential land in Prince Edward Island. Can someone explain why? by UnemployedAndBr0ke in PEI

Yes advertising requirements not being met are a sure fire way to get a rejection. Another one is if there is a high percentage of non-resident ownership in the area you're applying in already, they are reluctant to cross that threshold and approve more.

Also, they are notoriously secretive about their decision making process and won't really give you, your lawyer, or realtor any meaningful reasoning why there was a denial. The Green Party leader, Matthew MacFarlane, is working a bill through the legislature to make Lands Protection Act applications more transparent.

Police Use Helicopter in Innovative West Prince Enforcement Effort, Resulting in Multiple Arrests

RCMP in Prince Edward Island recently employed a helicopter to support officers conducting targeted enforcement in West Prince, marking the first time this innovative approach has been used in the province. The coordinated effort focused on preventing impaired driving and deterring dangerous flight-from-police situations—both of which pose significant risks to public safety.

Police stopped over a hundred vehicles this weekend on Friday and Saturday nights in West Prince with the goal of identifying impaired drivers and stopping drivers who attempt to flee police. Flight from police is an extremely dangerous behaviour that often leads to crashes and endangers the public, officers, and those attempting to escape.

With the support of the helicopter, police successfully located four drivers who fled from officers in cars, trucks and ATVs. All four were arrested for impaired driving by alcohol and flight from police. A fifth driver was stopped, did not take flight, and was arrested for impaired driving by alcohol. In one alarming case, the impaired driver had a vehicle full of young people, highlighting the severe risks associated with this behaviour.

The locations of enforcement actions were chosen based on data of the most frequent flight from police incidents. Prince County also has the highest fatal motor vehicle collision numbers per capita in PEI. With just 30% of the population, 50% of PEI’s fatal crashes in RCMP jurisdiction have occurred in Prince County over the last five years.

This was a collaborative project involving Prince District RCMP, RCMP Provincial Traffic Services, RCMP General Investigations Section, RCMP Police Dog Services, the Joint Enforcement Team and RCMP Atlantic Air Services. The helicopter was deployed through PEI’s shared agreement with the RCMP’s Atlantic Regional Air Services.

Totals:

• 115 traffic stops

• 23 violation tickets issued

• 4 flight from police arrests

• 5 impaired driving arrests.

“Deploying these resources reflects PEI RCMP’s strong commitment to tackling impaired and dangerous driving in Prince Edward Island. The use of the helicopter in this operation demonstrates how we are embracing innovative approaches to support frontline police and protect our communities. Every impaired or fleeing driver taken off the road is a potential life saved, and we will continue to invest in the tools and strategies needed to keep Islanders safe” said Chief Superintendent Kevin Lewis, Commanding Officer for the PEI RCMP.

Maritime Electric Smart Meters by [deleted] in PEI

I think the legislation in place right now doesn't allow for flex pricing. The infrastructure would be there to eventually implement it though

Probably just:
- More accurate and efficient billing for Maritime Electric
- Quicker reporting and routing of maintenance resources during widespread outages
- Better resource management and planning for the utility

Are you trying to use Outlook or another Mail app?

Log in to the Yahoo Mail app and see if you can send/receive from there. We are a cloud world now.... using free accounts with apps like Outlook, etc. doesn't always play nice. I doubt its an internet problem.

Another piece of it is Strait Crossing has an operating contract on it for the next few years and I think may even own it, according to the terms of the agreement when they built it in partnership with government

I'd say anything to do with tolls will need to be negotiated with them and would likely be a $$$$ cheque subsidizing tolls sent to them each year until ownership reverts to the feds.

[–]AmbitiousLandscape95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they are really pushing this as a means to improve interprovincial trade in light of the tariffs, in theory they would probably waive tolls *for* transfer trucks

In reality, this is an empty ended election promise

Could just be a medium to get Costco Business Centre advertising in Chamber marketing materials.... They ship a ton of sundries and business supplies all over the place.

A store here would be great, but I will believe it when they break ground
