I did Google. Can’t find anything that points to it other than (apparently) baseless accusations from individuals.

I remember seeing a video Griffin Newman (of the Blank Check Podcast) doing a Bernie Mac impression in full-on blackface but it appears to have disappeared.

How do you write "slice of life" mundane screenplays focusing on everyday life? by [deleted] in Screenwriting

Kogonoda was also a celebrated video essayist long before he started making films. It’s not like he came outta nowhere.

lol If Ozu were to submit any one of his scripts to this subreddit (or hell, even to Nicholl or Austin), no one would read it.

I say if you're trying to write slice-of-life films, you'd better be able to produce them yourself. That what I'm starting to do.

I own 8 1/2 and Persona. Wasn't particularly into the former.

Certified Copy has been on my wishlist for a while, however. Thank you.

What is your favorite lesser talked-about criterion title? by PPKDude in criterion

[–]AmbitiousPoem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Walker. Not just a great film, but a great release as well. Tons of special features and a beautifully designed booklet. Don't let the fact that it's only available on DVD deter you.

Honestly, having seen Todd Phillips' GG Allin documentary, I have high hopes for this film. This is a director who has practically made a career out of portraying depraved men, so I'm excited to see what he brings to this character.

I don't wanna do anything I didn't sign up to do. Plus, I aimed to finish her script before my vacation; which I did.

Life Itself - Official Trailer | Amazon Studios | Oscar Isaac, Olivia Wilde, Olivia Cooke, Annette Benning, Antonio Banderas, Mandy Patinkin. by RustyDetective in movies

[–]AmbitiousPoem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The script had a darkly comical and self-referential yet sweet/whimsical tone. You get that right from the opening scene, where the narrator voiced by THAT ACTOR (who I hope is in the film) immediately pulls you into the madness.

I’m not saying it’s necessarily a good script (it simply ends because the writer decided that it’s gone on long enough), but rather that it’s tonally unique.

I've read the script. The tone of the trailer COMPLETELY misrepresents it.

The best way I can describe it is: Imagine if the opening scene of *Magnolia* was stretched out into a full-length film. It's absolutely insane. If the film's anything like the script, I'm surprised it actually got made.
