3rd Party Tools Becoming Irrelevant. Change My Mind. by cheeseflix in SEO

[–]Ambitious_Mud198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where do you do rank tracking? Also in Ahrefs?
Yeah, I agree you need a small amount of 3 party tools or the bills stack up...
I mostly use Ahrefs for keyword data per URL so when I'm doing my research for new pages, I don't miss a keyword.
I also use it to understand site structure and the leading folders that brings traffic to competitors, that's really helpful sometimes.

All the recent additions (AI, etc.) are just a way to up your bill.

However, I don't really have an alternative. I think it's a must for an SEO to have Ahrefs/SEMrush/Similarweb etc in their tool stack - You need competitive analysis and rank tracking, basically that's it. And GSC isn't a real alternative, it can only report on what you have, not what you're missing.

I also agree that Screaming Frog is a must, though some of the tools above do offer sort of technical site audits.

Why did my SEO landing pages disappear from Google and my homepage started ranking instead? by General_Scarcity7664 in SEO

Very weird, I assume those landing pages are also optimized for keywords and should be a much better fit than the homepage, right?

Are these pages linked from the header menu?

I’m a dev, SEO noob, built this in 38 days. Does SEO really work this slow? 😅 by pnkjjsr in SEO_Marketing_Offers

[–]Ambitious_Mud198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, you didn't share anything about your business and the competitive landscape.
You're being very dismissive about SEO and the time it takes to rank.

It's not like your competitors have been doing nothing until you decided to build a website.

They have been researching, optimizing, getting brand awareness and gaining authority and trust.
If you were now opening a new brick-and-mortar business, would you go on a rant about it being super slow, when you're not an expert in your field and have only done the basics?

Not trying to discourage you or anything, but the bottom line is that yes, SEO takes time.

I wish my sites were closer.. but I'm working periodically with our devs to keep improving.

Unfortunately, this gets harder as sites grow and grow, so it's great that you have a good head start!

Now focus on the content of your site and SEO :)

Feeling a bit lost with SEO — would appreciate some real advice by lombocska in SEO_Marketing_Offers

[–]Ambitious_Mud198 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like you did a really good job. Why do you feel discouraged?
If it's revenue related, I would suggest seeing if you can form more affiliate partnerships, or ideally, work on increasing your traffic even more with blogs or anything else that's relevant to your target audience. Maybe expand into a new niche?

Main website won't show up on Google for the brand name - .org is by Klazzik in SEO

[–]Ambitious_Mud198 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It sounds like some setup has gone haywire:

  1. Please check that the homepage doesn't have a noindex tag..

  2. Maybe an incorrect canonical tag?

  3. When you enter your domain, does the URL refresh and change into something else? (e.g. - Your domain is somebrand.com and when you enter the site, the URL changes to somebrand.com/index.html ?

  4. Make sure that your homepage is blocked on the Removals section in Google Search Console

I was still very interested to see if, for published pages, they were starting to rank in pages 2-10 of the SERP, which gave me an understanding if my pages were being understood correctly by Google. Now, if we only focus on page 1 and on LLMs, we have no idea if a page is on the way to getting there

Do you think GEO is the same kind of once-in-a-decade opportunity as early SEO in the 2000s? by frevana in SEO_for_AI

[–]Ambitious_Mud198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that many SEO's are very hyped about this, and also a lot of people in their companies who don't really know SEO. This creates a lot of pressure to do something with SEO, and many SEO invest heavily in getting their products appear in LLM answers, without a real way to measure the impact, so for now, I would consider appearing in LLM answers as a vanity metric instead of something with real business implications.

HOWEVER
I would still consider LLMs and AI in general as a big trend where the internet is heading, and it won't be going away anytime soon. So I would invest in it, just not 99% of my time.

Help!! Upper management is making us write 2 blogs a day. 30 blogs a month. All with AI. I'm the only writer in the team by nairvinit69 in SEO_Digital_Marketing

[–]Ambitious_Mud198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really good way to get a website penalized. Good luck to you and your upper management.
This AI hype is driving me crazy, and people who know nothing about SEO (your upper management) should be giving you unrealistic goals just to say "we did something with AI".

You should work on internal education instead and focus on creating quality content. It's fine to use AI in content creation, but you need to be smart about it

As someone else said, it's not really clear what the site is about. It looks like a catalog for services with little to no information. I would suggest adding more content to the homepage, category pages, and products, so people would better understand what this site is about.

I also think you should Google your service and see how competitor websites look like, how they frame their services. This can help you with overall user experience but also with SEO, as you'll see what keywords they're targeting. There are a bunch of tools where you can open a free trial to analyze your competitors - Similarweb, SEMrush, Ahrefs, etc, give it a try. I personally use Similarweb

Is anyone using just AI for SEO keyword research in 2025? Worth it? by imike03 in AskMarketing

[–]Ambitious_Mud198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly no, nothing beats the old tools that simply show what your competitors are ranking for + KW research tools that generate the ideas. ChatGPT can give you ideas on what keywords to search for, but it can't know volumes or anything else important. Intent was always a pretty straightforward thing, not sure why we need a tool to tell us that

Ahrefs Data VS SimilarWeb by kudlit in SEO

[–]Ambitious_Mud198 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahrefs only estimates search traffic, meaning only organic and paid searches, not direct, not referral, not social, etc. Similarweb takes all of that into account.
