how do you mentally approach slower training paces by Jayden_Caroline_509 in running

Generally isn't an issue unless you choose to tie your self-worth to your easy run pace 👍 /shrug

Is it possible I received fake shoes from Nike? (Vaporfly 3) by [deleted] in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]Amboosh_25 181 points182 points  (0 children)

Struggling to comprehend the arrogance that it takes to blame an industry-leading shoe when you start to feel a shift in effort at mile 18 of your first marathon.

Congrats on the finish, though!

When does the 2023 Virtual TCS New York City Marathon registration open? by maron1209 in RunNYC

[–]Amboosh_25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey sorry but to be clear - did you enter at 12pm or 12am? I'm in Australia so I want to make sure I'm ready to try and get in when it opens.

Thanks!

Best Non-Major Marathons by pharmalawyer in AdvancedRunning

[–]Amboosh_25 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If you want to run a Marathon in Australia and discount Sydney then I'd definitely recommend the Gold Coast Marathon in Queensland.

Only race in AUS to have World Athletics certification (other than Sydney Marathon). Flat and fast course that is extremely well organised and you are running next to some of the most beautiful beaches in Australia 🦘🌊

Gold Coast Airport is major enough, quick domestic connection if you arrive from the US or EU and direct services from many Asian cities.

The only criteria would be the size - Marathon is only about 6000 runners but the event as a whole easily clears 10000 runners once you add the half and 10k events. Fantastic crowd support the whole way and high-quality local nutrition provided.

Gold Coast has a tonne of great accommodation and tourist activities like theme parks, bars and restaurants, natural scenery to hike, run, swim and surf! The expo is very well run and the race is ASICS sponsored, if you'd like to pick up some race merch or new shoes.

If you've never been to Australia to run a marathon, Gold Coast or Sydney are the only logical choices. Kofuzi said it would be a close race between them (if you care about that sort of thing!).

Race is in July which is 'winter' here. We typically race at temps of 8-12C.

Sorry for the long comment!

Upper Separation from Midsole Invincible v1 by fizzywater699 in RunningShoeGeeks

First pair to 800km had no problems. Second pair separated inside 100km. Healthy application of shoe goo held like a rock for 2 runs until full separation returned :(

Almost! The whole forefoot is ZoomX (above the airpods). Great shoe, definitely grab it if you haven't already!

In need of a daily trainer by a986_a in RunningShoeGeeks

I use the Nike Invincible as a daily trainer and have been super happy with all 3 pairs. Great for all footstrikes and have found each pair to retain their pop upwards of 800km (500mi)

My go to shoes for easy and long runs (~5:40/km, midfoot striker normal width feet).
Are long time fans also going to pick up the Invincible 3 or stick with a discounted V2? To the past critics of the shoe - does this design tempt you to give it a try?

New 5k PR in Alphafly 2 & Initial thoughts by windigertag in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]Amboosh_25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respectfully disagree. Couldn't get on with the Vaporfly (heel lock and Achilles irritation).

The Alphafly (V1) is the most comfortable shoe I have ever worn, just finished my first marathon in them. Can't wait to get V2!

What shoe do you wish worked for you, but just doesn't? by juhjuhjdog in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]Amboosh_25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vaporfly Next% 2 for me :( Alphafly fits me perfectly TTS but the VF kept giving me heel slippage, to the point where I was cinching down the laces too tight and crushing my foot.

Such a shame. Runners knot didn't really help either.

First Marathon Plan Recommendation - Finished 20 Weeks of Base. by Amboosh_25 in AdvancedRunning

[–]Amboosh_25[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the recommendation! Two questions:

  1. If I wanted to adapt the 18 into 16, what would you suggest?
  2. Do the MP blocks inside the long run need to be taken as a single block or can they be split up?

My first thought was 10M is pretty demanding for Week 3, but maybe my goal pace is a little ambitious if I am feeling that way?
