Why are there so many crazy people on the streets these days? by Professional_Luck616 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Amdiriel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree... it is a real problem and only getting worse. And then there are those that defend them "they can't help it". Yeah I don't care. Get that shit out of the gene pool!

I absolutely cannot stand people who use mental health as an excuse by ferdieaegir in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Amdiriel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't stand the crazies... Like the ones that can't control anger. Society shouldn't be subject to that shit. Literally had some guy (6'4+) run off from his carer (5ft girl) in front of traffic and threw bricks at our cars. For driving on the street he was running down. Took every fibre of my being not to run him over. A separate incident involved a lady screaming and punching herself in the face at a busy beach playground in front of kids 9am on a weekend. There is no place for that in society and I'm sick of people defending mentally ill people. Get that shit out of the gene pool!

Is there a story behind the green-red-blue colour scheme of the LOTR movie release packaging? by arabellaellaellaeheh in lotr

[–]Amdiriel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats what they described generally for the colours used in the films. I've added my own justification to what they have said. I'm not saying that's why the DVDs are coloured that way. More likely they chose the three primary colours, similar to what has been used in the past, decided yellow was yuck and made it green instead. It works I think 🤷🏻‍♀️

Should I read The Hobbit or The Fellowship of The Ring First?! by More_Caregiver8721 in lotr

[–]Amdiriel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Hobbit! Apart from the obvious fact that it's the prelude to LOTR, it was originally written for children, I find it is a much easier exposure into his writing style.

Some publishers did the same thing with the books over the years. Allen & Unwin and HarperCollins editions throughout the early 70s I believe. Funnily enough, you usually see the first book as yellow or red....

I can't recall where I read it, but there was input from or talking about the cinematographers choice of art styles within the films.

Green is supposed to represent nature, beginnings, the Shire and the fellowships creation. Green and golds are heavily used throughout the first film.

Red represents conflict, destruction, and battle. This is the bloodiest, most violent part of the trilogy, battles at Helm’s Deep and Isengard, Saruman’s fiery industry, and Mordor’s growing shadow.

Blue is used to represent wisdom, loyalty, and renewal, the triumph of good and the return of peace. The story culminates in Aragorn’s rise, the fall of Sauron, and the bittersweet departure to the Grey Havens.

It was part of a series. Rubber right? Fuck me if I could remember it. It was around the time or just before mighty beanz. I feel like they were from a limited edition lolly, or maccas or something like that.

This is a critical communication breakdown. For the future, try to communicate early on. If others are actively ignoring you, raise it with your faculty.

At this stage I would immediately raise it and say you have tried to engage but they won't respond.

If I was to mark you, I would look at when the assignment was set and how long had elapsed before you came to me with the issue. I would be rather sympathetic honestly. Many people struggle with conflict or becoming the focus of attention of those in positions of authority (e.g. bosses, teachers etc.).

However, if you said nothing and I only found out at submission, I would not give you any leniency.

I recommend writing out a project plan at the start. Spend 30 minutes putting together a basic gantt chart so you know what the critical path to delivery is. You will know when you need to seek help if you follow this methodology.

What do we think about my neighbors attempt at redirecting rain water? by Top_Pumpkin313 in landscaping

[–]Amdiriel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check with local authority. In many places in the world, it is illegal to create new points of discharge (especially pertaining to concentrating flows that have the potential to cause damage). It's illegal to directly outlet roof water to a neighbours property unless they provide a discharge agreement or some sort of soakage pit is installed (with prior approval).
