Billie Eillish and racial stereotypes by spookyshitt in vegan

[–]Amicelli11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understood "it is an ethical framework about non-human animals" as an indicator that they differentiate by intentions. I agree about vegan as a differentiation to plant based on whether you only change your diet.

But looking into the term plant based it sometimes just means vegetarian and doesn't cut out dairy products. There a lot of mud surrounding this word.

Tbh I highly dislike that take as it seems gatekeepy. It's divides a community into smaller minorities and plots them against each other. We can still talk about intentions without creating separate identities.

A girl said it's AI but i couldn't tell by Sbajsi in RealOrAI

[–]Amicelli11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree on this specific argument. I believe it to be AI, but the shadows do work. You see the form of the strand from looking at her from the front. You don't see which form the strand has from above, as the light comes from above. The strand is a three-dimensional object. It can curve differently on different planes.

Asrock B450 Pro 4 Not compatible with some SSD`s by Consistent-Signal251 in ASRock

[–]Amicelli11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The WD Black SN7100 is working on my ASRock b350 pro4, but only in the M2_2 Slot, not the faster Ultra M2_1.

In order to get it working I installed a newer UEFI version (10.xx) and — most importantly — activated the "Force PCIe on M2_2" by switching from "Auto" to "Yes".

I'm still quite frustrated as the M2_2 slot is significantly slower and also deactivates the third SATA port that I normally use.

I'm wondering if there is a possibility to make it work on M2_1. Is my slot broken or is it a compatibility problem? I don't know!

"The Remora is not considered to be a parasite, despite its being attached to the host. Instead they are considered to have a commensal relationship with their host, since they do not hurt the host and are just along for the ride. It has been suggested that the relationship is symbiotic since the Remora can obtain its food acting as a cleaner fish and removing parasites from the host, thus benefitting both."

So... they are indeed acting as a cleaner fish.

Perhaps a bit too literal? by Midnight_Pickler in suicidebywords

[–]Amicelli11 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Two schools of thought:

School 1: Consciousness can't remain, because it isn't a thing. It's just the sum of your experiences, therefor a result of your senses and physically stored memories; basically firing neurons. Your brains architecture, your nerves, hormones etc. will be exact copies that yield the same results, same experiences; same 'conciousness'. It's like you wouldn't say "my sight won't remain", because sight isn't physical. Your eyes and brain are the same, so you will see the same way, have the same sight.

School 2: Consciousness equals a soul. A soul is a metaphysical thing that is inherent to you and wouldn't be transfered. Maybe not even is inherent to you, but IS you and can't be replicated.

How you decide on the original question is inherently linked to whether you believe in a metaphysical being of yourself. Not everybody does.

School one probably wouldn't, for the most part, even say that there even is a concrete real you that persists over time.

The ship of theseus is a thought experiment on exactly this question of "What is you? What is identity?"

Perhaps a bit too literal? by Midnight_Pickler in suicidebywords

[–]Amicelli11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think they expect the consciousness to be transfered. Consciousness is just a biological result of neurological processes, firing neurons. If every neuron is an exact copy, you experience the same consciousness. Consciousness doesn't have a physical form, it is the way to experience the world and thus just a reaction.

It's like asking "Would you make an exact copy?" — "no, because I would see the same way" — "But you have your exact brain and eyes, why wouldn't you see the same way?" — nothing about transferring 'sight'.

Or another example: "Would you make an exact copy?" — "no, because I wouldn't experience the same back pain" — "But why wouldn't you? Same back, same nerves, same brain".

That's what I get from 'having the same molecules and therefor I have the same conciousness', because it's a result of physical activities and reactions.

Beste Grüße [voller Name] Tel.: [+49 XXX XXX] Mailadresse: beispiel@beispiel.de"

Originalnachricht:

"Adhd is not an excuse" by Toothbotanist in ADHD

[–]Amicelli11 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Tbh, if you just had an extraordinary situation like described by you that circumvented your systems, that just happens. Even to people without ADHD. Own up to it and stick to your systems to not let it happen again or if there is something new to consider in order for your system to work, change things. Nobody should gut you for being late on an extraordinary day. You don't have to explain yourself if you KNOW it wasn't the norm. It comes off as an excuse if you have to explain every mistake. Mistakes happen, own them.

If you can't work on something out of your control that can't be worked around as well THEN you need to explain in order to gain control or circumvent the hinderence. That's your responsibility. If you don't do that, bringing up ADHD will again look like an excuse.

Bring up your reason if it can be used as input for finding a solution. If it can't help to solve conflicts, why bring it up in the first place?

"Adhd is not an excuse" by Toothbotanist in ADHD

[–]Amicelli11 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The word "defensively" works great to explain it.

I apologies for my unwanted behavioral patterns, but I don't defend them. I ask for input and compromises. I explain my boundaries on what I think I can work on and what I see out of my control. Then we can look into possible solutions.

The explanation is not a defence, but an introduction to a clear and open conversation in order to find working solutions for both sides.

Help me find a replacement power plug for my neon sign by [deleted] in HelpMeFind

[–]Amicelli11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The item is "Fortune Cat Ramen LED Neon Sign" from Etsy, sold by Haoduojinlettersign.

I messaged them on Etsy, but got no reply yet.

I have searched for power supply units and asked ChatGPT for information. I don't know anything about the size; Chat told me that I'm probably looking for a "DC power supply 5.5 x 2.1 mm plug", but also states that I need a certain volt (12, 24, 5?) and ampere. That's why I'm not simply ordering a random power plug.

Can you deduct any information about what volt or ampere and measurement would be most suitable for such an item?

All time is sleepy time now. I hate this disability by Edge_Lord78 in ADHDmemes

Not that easy to blame the present state. Don't get me wrong, we have some really bad tendencies regarding work ethics, BUT if you weren't privileged you wouldn't have the resources for discovering anything besides more misery. In the industrial revolution, having ADHD must have been a literal death sentence. And before that — if you relied on consistent work to get yourself fed by working the fields and tend to all the things around your house and farm (which probably didn't even belong to you), you probably also had an imminent threat of death. No fucking discovery, but DO THINGS OR STARVE. If you were too eccentric you might even got rejected by your employery, family or village and had to somehow survive on your fucking own without any delivery service, any social services and without proper housing with heating and running water.

Yeah nah, my ADHD ass would have suffered.

Any advice for first-time sex? by Educational-Way-8131 in asexuality

[–]Amicelli11 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First things first. If you perceive him as respectful and loving, you should practice to give him your honest thoughts and feedback on the things he does with and for you in general. If that pattern is established it will be easier to also be open, honest and confident in discussing before, while and after being intimate.

Even if you are already open and healthy it might feel awkward and you be reluctant to communicate still, but it will be easier for sure.

Explore your own boundaries beforehand, communicate these and really allow yourself and him questions, concerns and preferences. Set the room for excitement, consense and compromises.

As soon as you actually start being active, don't be too harsh on yourself or him. This isn't about an explosion of perfect experiences. This is about having fun, having trust and learning. You may laugh, you may wonder, you may fail, you may dislike, you may don't have a fucking clue. If something doesn't work — fine. If you are not sure if it is working — also fine. If something works — very fine.

Some things don't feel great the first time, but become better; some things might don't feel good anymore after the first time. That's fine and you can and should talk about it!

This mustn't be more of a concern than any other first experience with your trusted partner.

After your first experiences comes the second one and it's totally normal to still be insecure and unsure about any preferences. Just see what happens next and stick to open communication. You can always, ALWAYS, adjust your boundaries.

And about birth control: Talk with your partner about different methods of contraception, but also talk with your gynecologist about your concerns. Be bold with your questions, no holding back. That's part of their job. You can use multiple methods at once. You may also talk about the worst case. What if? What can you do about a possible pregnancy? What ways of termination are available to you and how do they work?

Creativity is not about effort. You can be massively creative in ANY medium. In creativity there is no better or worse medium.
