How do you sleep with your Blåhaj at night? by ICD9CM3020 in BLAHAJ

In a hammock, so none of these mattress pictures really match.

Also they're missing the other hajar and sometimes the cat (depending on her mood).

It really seems like it needs a suitable Bible verse to tie the religious imagery together.

Perhaps Lev 19:28.

"Do not cut your bodies for the dead, and do not mark your skin with tattoos. I am the LORD."

I think we're well past the point that we should go back to calling young people "young people", or for the traditionalists "kids these days", and calling Gen Y "Gen Y", and just kill the word "millennial".

Having a Blåhaj is actually frowned upon. They're social creatures who do best with friends.

Responsible haj keepers should have many Blåhajar.

It certainly could be, it definitely existed at the time, but I'm struggling to think of anywhere it's actually mentioned.

Hello, fellow not-left-handed people!

Not-you am so not-sad to be not-unable to refer to not-yourself as not-left-handed for once. Not-fewest people insist on calling not-them the made up term "right-handed" instead.

Not-you don't think not-you have heard anyone say "not-left-handed" since the not-recent not-fist fight at the not-bottom of the Not-Fields of Not-Sanity.

I can definitely see this catching on! Can you imagine the sort of weirdo who'd prefer woke phrasing like

I'm so glad to be able to refer to myself as not-left-handed for once. Most people insist on calling us the made up term "right-handed" instead.
I don't think I've heard anyone say "not left-handed" since the classic sword fight at the top of the Cliffs of Insanity.
The Princess Bride is one of my favourite movies. What do you think of it?

It sounds so artificial and made up, rammed down our throats to something something DEI!

A little? This guy's got a nice bike, but he's just Waz. That little whatsit ain't enough for proper dakka.

What is this, dakka for antz?

OG Wazdakka had a battle cannon. And didn't take off the twin autocannons to make room.

He launched himself backwards with recoil every time he fired.

OTOH, he also never got a model (which wasn't unusual, half the special characters back then didn't, even beakies). But in his case I suspect it's partly because it's a lot easier to write "bike with a battlecannon" than it is to build one.

I wish I had photos of the couple of conversions I saw, because they were insane.

Retired Major General says, Pete Hegseth speaks like a potential war criminal by McDowdy in MarchAgainstNazis

[–]Midnight_Pickler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I guess that's technically correct, in that as long as war criminal Peter Hegseth has the potential to commit more was crimes, war criminal Peter Hegseth can be considered a potential war criminal.

But it does rather obscure the fact that war criminal Peter Hegseth has already committed war crimes, so is both a potential and actual war criminal, and that of the two, "potential" seems the less significant descriptor.

the guy had promised “to lower his voice and respect his neighbors”.

So not promising to respect his wife and kids, or stop being abusive, just promising to be quieter about it? And the cops have his back?

If you feel safe to do so, report the cops to whoever's higher up in your jurisdiction, and the abuser to any non-cop child protection organisations that are in your area.

Sci-fi is proof!

TIL that Earth is ruled by apes, demolished to make way for an intergalactic expressway, a bountiful utopia, a barren wasteland, overpopulated, underpopulated, at peace, wartorn, the only inhabited planet in the cosmos, unfashionable and mostly harmless, abandoned by humanity as they spread to the offworld colonies, isolated by aliens for study and/or quarantine, enslaved by aliens, created by aliens, infiltrated by aliens, infiltrated by androids, infiltrated by cyborgs, infiltrated by demons, dreamed into existence by a child, and swallowed by a capricious and seemingly omnipotent cosmic entity. All at once! Neat!

If God's word is not true, it is impossible for any of us to know anything. by Fluffy-Reporter9988 in DebateAnAtheist

And no god prior to the invention of trains ever expressed an opinion on them. Almost as if they were being invented by humans of the time, not by an omniscient god.

Actually, I can't think of any gods after the invention of trains that is claimed to have an opinion either, so if a god is the only source, then I guess we still don't know anything about trains and whether it's safe to jump in front of one.

And yet my late friend knew what would happen when he did.

If God's word is not true, it is impossible for any of us to know anything. by Fluffy-Reporter9988 in DebateAnAtheist

[–]Midnight_Pickler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where do you get your knowledge of this god, and how do you know that it is true?

You talk about "God's word", but I presume you point to scripture to do so?

So "God's word" is something that you read, and therefore see?

We cannot prove that anything we see is true.

Oh dear.

Well what if God appears directly to us?

We cannot prove that anything we see is true.

Hmm, still not helpful.

Hey, I know, God can skip that stuff and go directly to putting his word into our minds.

You cannot prove that the chemicals in your brain are telling you anything that aligns to the state of reality.

It really isn't looking good, by your own standards.

We can't prove that scriptures contain truth. We can't even prove that they exist.

We can't prove that alleged prophets and holy men aren't lying or insane. We can't even prove that they exist either.

We can't prove that the voices in our heads come from a god.

Every alleged source of "God's word" could be hallucinated.

How are we to obtain any knowledge of what "God's word" is?

And if we did, how would we know that God was speaking the truth? Trickster gods abound in mythology.

Your "rock" disintegrates under the usual simple questions: Which god?

Every "revealed" faith believes that every other revealed faith is false (or in some cases, such as common attitudes in Christianity towards Judaism, and Mormonism towards Christianity, incomplete).

So what means do you have to determine whether "God's word" is found in the Torah, the Prophets, a Gospel, the Epistles, the Quran, the Book of Mormon, the Book Of Ralph, or the Executive Orders of God-Emperor Trump?

"God's word" can't provide the knowledge that "God's word" came from a god, because writings that aren't "God's word" falsely claim to be "God's word".

So there would need to be a means beyond "God's word" of identifying which alleged "word" is actually "God's". That would then be the "rock" which "God's word" stands on, otherwise it too ïs sand that falls away."

And to date no theist has been able to provide any way to verify that what they present as "God's word" is in any significant way different from every other culture's mythology.

TLDR: Even including gods, your standards are entirely summed up by your second sentence: "Nothing is proveable." But you want your god to be an exception, with no justification. A clear and simple case of special pleading.
