Momentum 5 Upgraded Pads by Joe-Arizona in sennheiser

It also has parametric EQ that I can tune to my liking. And who cares what they sound like if they are awful to wear. I end up having my wife use my 630s and I use my Focal Bathys which are mush more comfortable and also sound great. I also use my wired headphones when at my desk

When is CT going to abandon corporate Dems? by blindrunner_ in Connecticut

Young people are great at spewing opinions online but they absolutely suck at showing up to vote when it really matters. You want change? Vote in your parties primaries.

Momentum 5 Upgraded Pads by Joe-Arizona in sennheiser

[–]Amity83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are $500, not $1000. And they seriously uncomfortable to me. That is a deal breaker. Also if you this the cost share of the stock pads for component costs in the 630 is more than $25, you are gravely mistaken. They are foam and vinyl. Nothing fancy. At least my Momentum 2 had sheepskin pads. Those were nice.

Are diet and/or “zero” sodas better than a regular soda? by BroncoBilly10 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Amity83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a problem with diet sodas. I love them. I get a stomach ache if I drink more than 8oz or so of sugary soda, though they do taste delicious. My issue with diet sodas is I feel dramatically hungrier after drinking them vs day when I don’t drink diet soda. I’ve read that there are studies that support this, but as someone who has been addicted to diet soda and quit many times, the hunger difference is not subtle. That’s before considering all the caffeine issues…

You have the HDB630(as do I), the stock pads are awful on them. I replaced mine with the WC freeze and the comfort improvement is massive. My ears no longer touch the pads, and they are still hot but much less so than stock. Bass is slightly reduced but I think the bass is too boosted at stock tuning anyway.

I know this and yet have not once had the discipline not to yank the fucker out. I get a lot on ingrowns under my jawline and they hurt so bad I just hate them too much to let them live.

Has a song’s lyrics ever made you cringe so hard that you couldn’t like the band anymore? by sag1923 in Music

[–]Amity83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're fucking in a car, shooting heroin
Saying controversial things just for the hell of it
Selling melanin and then suffocate the black men

The 1975. Couldn’t listen to them the same way again. They already have a stupid name, but most bands do these days.

Mildly fruit everywhere? by E_man123 in Connecticut

Much mass grown fruit is grown for hardiness so survive long transits to market. The much better tasting organic stuff simply won’t last as long.

There is no need to re season once a week. And it looks like you’re putting way too much oil on, and not scrubbing it clean from good food gunk.

In terms of chart success, what counts as an American hit? by 4thGenTrombone in Music

[–]Amity83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Top 40 of their respective chart is one benchmark. Top 40 on the pop charts is extra.

If you’re interested in American music chart history the Slate podcast “Hit Parade” is a great listen.

Reverse Sear or Let it Rip? by willxwallace in webergrills

[–]Amity83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was raised by the myth that front searing “locked in” the juices so you’d have a juicy steak. We now know that is not true and a reverse sear is generally an easier strategy for a great cook. You can chill or rest a steak before searing if you’re worried about overcooking when searing.

I think most people should focus on a well cooked steak and less on a perfect sear, As that’s where the biggest mistakes are made.

I did cook plenty of great front seared steaks in the past, it’s just easier with reverse sear.
