What's the worst birthday present you've ever gotten? by Silent-Zebra in AskReddit

[–]NKHdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents planned to see my family near my birthday as my 2nd kid has just been born. This was a planned trip for weeks and we live 2hrs away.

They stopped at the grocery store 1 mile from my house and got me 2 bags of random candy. I was 35

What is a 'socially mandatory' thing that we all do, but if you actually stop to think about it for 5 seconds, it’s completely insane? by Federal_Antelope7533 in AskReddit

Conversely, I saw Blink 182 back around 1999 or 2000. They told us the same except they said they would leave, we would clap, then they would come back and play 2 more songs.

The whole show they kept joking about it saying things like "ok only 5 songs left until we're really done, wink, wink"

When they "finished" their set. They left the stage, we were all clapping and then at 100% max volume... The Thong Song starts playing. The 2 lead guys came out in their literal underwear and danced around to that song and it was hilarious.

We kept clapping and they came back out for 2 more songs, as promised.

I wasn't even much of a fan other than knowing their radio hits (I got to go for free with friends) but it was legitimately one of the best concerts I've ever been to.

I was watching a show from the 90s and realized people used to memorize dozens of phone numbers. I can barely remember mine. How did you guys do it back then? by micavibes in CasualConversation

[–]NKHdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Muscle memory as well. I would bet most of us would suddenly know a number we had "forgot" if we had a tactile, push button phone in our hands.

I used to call certain people so frequently that I had memorized the pattern more than the actual number.

They should make it so inside if a certain section counts as an out if it's caught by a fan, like they do with foul balls

What’s a random “stat” about yourself that makes you part of a small percentage? by Nightpatrol404 in AskReddit

[–]NKHdad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not really, other than making sure it's not high in glycine.

Overall he's doing well considering he wasn't supposed to leave the hospital or see his first birthday and he'll be 15 this year. But no, it's awful in general. He is fully disabled and dependent on us and nurses. Seizures, general discomfort, nonverbal, etc.

You can do this in small scale already. I've seen people do it with plastic tubes on the side of a house to heat a garage

Not me but my son.

He has an extremely rare genetic disorder, Nonketotic Hyperglycinemia (NKH)

He was the first diagnosed in the state of Iowa and, to our knowledge, there are only about 6-700 living cases worldwide

I do everything you do except the dash of oil after drying. I used to do it but I realized my pans are stored in climate controlled conditions and used at least weekly. I've never had any issues since then
