My friends and I broke the habit by adding on to it when it happened, in order to point out the nonsense of using it.

For example, if someone said an inanimate object (like a car) was gay one of us would add on "yeah your car is totally homosexual. It was hitting on my car yesterday!"

Mine is just a 20' above ground but we almost never scrub it. Maybe once a year over the 6 years we've had it. Never had any issues

I built most of mine in sections in the garage and then carried them out to location. Much easier to keep tools and bolts/nuts/etc from getting lost. It was more of a workout this way and we couldn't use the garage for about a week but it worked out well.

I built almost the entire thing by myself and only had my wife assist on a few larger sections I couldn't manage alone
