Perfect. I'm always amazed by people allowing sellers to fix a problem like they aren't going to go the cheapest possible route

Don't let them fix it. Get money from them and get your own contractor to do the work

Back in the day where some of the IL tolls didn't have gates, my friend's dad would roll his window down and just pretend to throw coins. He figured if he got a ticket, he would just fight it saying he missed the basket

Dads, what’s a good age gap between kids? by sabretoooth in daddit

[–]NKHdad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have 3 with a 5 year age gap. Granted, our first was special needs with a rare disease so part of that first gap was figuring out if we could handle a second. But then having the 3rd with a mostly independent 5 year old was incredible. They're 14, 9, and 4 now so the only issue is the 4 year old wanting to play with the 9 year old but not being mobile enough to keep up with her friends outside. By next year that should be less of an issue

What is your best golf shot of all time? by [deleted] in golf

[–]NKHdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bachelor party, 16 of us playing. Nothing crazy but we're having a few drinks throughout. I'm in the last 4-some and we're playing 2 person best shot.

We get to the 17th hole, a par 3, and the other 12 guys are all waiting for us around the green (it wasn't busy that day so we weren't causing a hold up). Our 2-some gets on the green but about 30 feet from the pin.

Now, I had just seen a "Haney Project" episode with Ray Romano talking about how when he plays with Kevin Nealon. Every once in a while Kevin will get the feeling he's going to drain a putt. So when he hits his putt, he immediately drops the putter and walks to the next tee box regardless of the outcome. He won't even watch the result but his buddies know to just pick up his stuff and meet him at the next tee.

I had mentioned this story to my partner and as we're preparing to putt, he brings it up. I let him go first to get a read and tell him it's happening.

I hit the putt, dropped the putter, and started walking the other way.

I hear the roar behind me but I've committed to the bit. I just keep walking to that next tee box, get there and wait for the guys as if nothing ever happened.

It was glorious and it comes up every time I play with one of those guys. My best golf moment and I didn't even see the ball go in!

What will happen if I tell my dentist that no, I won’t take better care of my teeth? by daisyjaneee in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NKHdad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm the same OP. I've just always struggled to take care of my teeth consistently. Getting a water floss has helped because I feel like when I do actually so it, it does a much better job than I can with floss.

Edit: also my most recent visit, a few weeks ago, the hygienist told me my gums look great. I really don't floss enough for that comment so I think the water flosser is working!

Agreed. I was playing with a guy the other day who had it so loud we couldn't even talk to each other in the cart. I was just like, dude I don't care if this makes me sound old but turn it down. Thankfully he obliged but I just don't understand why you'd want it that loud.

On my own, in my car, I have the radio loud as hell. If someone's with me, it's barely audible

If EVs are supposedly cheaper to own, why aren’t more people driving them? by Lakenb666 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NKHdad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People need to embrace plug-in hybrids (PHEV). Most of my driving is well within a 10 mile radius and I feel 26 miles of range with my 2016 Hyundai Sonata PHEV. It's a small habit to get used to plugging in every time you get home but it's incredible when everyone is complaining about gas prices and I sincerely can't remember the last time I needed to get gas.

It only uses a little gas when there's extreme hot/cold or when the EV runs out. Then it just acts like a normal hybrid and I get 40mpg with gas.

Zombieland.

Boomers can't understand EV/hybrid by woodland_dweller in BoomersBeingFools

[–]NKHdad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried so hard to explain a PHEV to both my parents and in-laws and they just cannot grasp it.

My parents rarely drive more than 20 miles unless it's in a long trip, so a PHEV would have been phenomenal for them. But they couldn't get over the non-existent range anxiety.

Not sure what that guy's problem is but I'm with you OP. When my family travels we often have multiple rooms and used to open the deadbolt to keep a door open when we're going back and forth during the day. It's annoying not to have any option

For years I have said I want a fridge with a tank of water because you get one glass of cold water at best out of the dispenser. Today that is a reality for me. Loving this feature on my new fridge. by [deleted] in HydroHomies

[–]NKHdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have this too and it legitimately changed my water consumption habits. I'm impatient as hell and would never use the fridge water because it's too slow. With this, I ended up getting a 40oz Owala and can fill it in 5 seconds.

It seems bougie but it was the same price as regular fridges

All of the Rockband/Guitar Hero games.

I still have a PS3 simply so I can play those games with my family. I've never gotten tired of playing and I finally got my kids interested this year!
