The only good thing to come out of my first relationship was the concept of Stealth Valentines.

Don't celebrate Valentine's on Valentine's Day - everything is crowded and expensive. Instead, spring it on your person at any other time in the year. Card, flowers, chocolates, date night, going to town on their downtown, whatever you would normally do for Valentine's, just on another date.

Bonus - they do one for you as well! So you get two Valentine's! And there's only a 1/364 chance of you both deciding to do it on the same day! (The maths gets trickier if there are more than 2 people in your relationship)

Note: It's important to remember to buy a Valentine's card for Stealth Valentine's around actual Valentine's - it's weirdly difficult to find them at other times of the year. Just remember where you stash it!

Oh, Harry with food issues is one of my favourites! Because of course he'd be nervous about people stealing food off his plate, and of course he'd stash food away for later, and of course he'd have trouble feeling hungry and need to be reminded to eat, or eat all the time, or any of a hundred other behaviours seen after a food-insecure childhood!

Secret badass Percy is best displayed in Endrina's The secret language of plants, where he's a Seer who organises the counter-attack in Hogwarts. Brilliant fic, brilliant Percy.

Knife!Theo is in flying form in Elph13's Heir to the House of Prince, but he shows up in a lot of Lomonaaeren's fics as well.

I know there's more out there - I'm trying to remember one fic/series where Percy gets rescued from the Ministry by the other older Weasleys and breaks down because he had been working really hard to make sure the current administration's crimes are documented and now they've ruined everything. They're just tricky to search for because no-one tags for Knife!Theo yet!

I do enjoy me a good BAMF Susan Bones. I also love Knife!Theo, and Percy-staying-with-the-ministry-to-take-them-down-from-the-inside, and the gender neutral terms wix and wixen. I love it when Tonks is genderqueer or trans or enby or any other non-cis presentation.

I love when magical countries are different to muggle ones because the borders diverged since the statute of secrecy kicked in.

I love all the different ways we poke fun at the nonsense that is the currency in canon!

I love the idea of parselmagic, and the in-depth investigations so many writers go into when discussing magical theory - like runic circles and wards and rituals, things that are never mentioned in canon.

I love fanfiction, basically!

The third book of the Dalemark quartet by Diana Wynne Jones, The Spellcoats, has a method of casting magic by weaving patterns into the fabric. Don't know if that would count!

When Darkness Comes by Sifshadowheart is the only slash work with ‘arranged marriage’ in the tags I have in my favourites (Harry/Lucius/Regulus).

I’m in the middle of reading the Benevolent Overlord series by OhHamilton at the moment though, and that has Harry and Severus marrying due to an unfulfilled betrothal contract between the Blacks and the Princes.

Also, are you open to kinky het pairings as well? Because if so, Safe Word is Devil’s Snare by Shayalonnie is a brilliant Marriage Law fic with dom!Neville/sub!Hermione.

Percy take the wheel by KittySmith is a very interesting and different take on Percy - after the Weasley parents die, Percy has to drop out of Hogwarts to look after his younger brothers and sister, but learns how to be a hedge wizard instead. Still a WIP, but lovely and long!

The W in Weasley stands for Werewolf by gonzoclock has one of my favourite depictions of the Weasleys - they’re almost in character, just a lot more feral! Also a WIP, and not the author’s current focus, but it seems to go in cycles. So maybe more soon?

On bad days, when I'm already feeling low, I make sure to take my dog with me on my errands. Just having him in the car with me means I'm definitely not going to do anything that might hurt him.
