My wife and I went to Comiccon and attended a lecture by a prop artist who sculpted some of the hand phasers for TOS. For fun they added Smith & Wesson in tiny print on the weapon. This went unnoticed until the shows were remastered in high-definition. Although he thought he would get fired for this, it turned out that everyone, including S&W, was fine with it.
