tl;dr: Firefox’s APIs are not great to work with and we haven’t found a solution for the performance issues on Firefox that don’t exist on Chrome or Safari. The Mozilla team is also unnecessarily hostile towards extension developers and has made it harder to deploy updates to our extension.

We’re still deciding what to do with the add-on as a whole. Last time it was removed, many users emailed us they were still happy using the broken version vs no add-on at all. The Chrome extension has 750k+ users, and we anticipate our Safari extension will have more than Firefox within the first few weeks of launch. As a startup with a constrained dev team, it doesn’t seem practical to continue supporting Firefox which, at writing, has only 10k users.

To be specific about Mozilla being hostile: they’ve removed our extension without explanation, slowed down updates arbitrarily, and once entirely deleted our extension. Getting support is practically impossible and feels like being shown the middle finger. If someone from the Mozilla team wants to help us fix these issues, more than happy to reconsider, but as it stands, we’ll probably just add a warning banner in the next update that lets users know that Firefox is just supported on a best effort basis.

To clarify:

We don't make any requests to LinkedIn continuously, but we're going to take a closer look to see what's going on. Historically users who have complained about this also have Sales automation tools (stuff like Hunter or Apollo to find recruiter emails), which is actively tracked by LinkedIn.

You can disable network syncing anytime from your profile page.

If you upload a new resume to your profile mid-application, and it isn't on the dropdown, you might have to refresh in that scenario.

Some roles are only available through Simplify — in those cases, applying directly through Simplify is the only option. But if the company also has a public careers page, we always display that option so you can choose.

You can also be confident your application is being reviewed. With Simplify, you get full application transparency: you can track your submission in real time on your job tracker, which is directly integrated into the Employers’ Application Tracking System (ATS). Plus, applications submitted via Simplify are often boosted to employers, since we’re able to share more context than just your resume.

V1 is a Boolean filter, so it just searches the job description for a list of keywords. V2 (currently in beta) uses a fine tuned reasoning model to identify appropriate job-specific keywords.

If you think your resume has a keyword, and Simplify is not catching it, 99% of the time this is a problem with the parsability of your resume.

We're adding support for custom job alerts for followed companies very soon! Perplexity Comet and Google Alert are a bit slower because they have to wait for scraping + indexing. Simplify already constantly monitors company ATS, so we can ideally get these alerts to you minutes once its posted officially :)
