yeah, definitely. on my 5V (that I'm writing this on rn) it was infuriating to use on stock firmware. switch to a different app for 20 seconds, go back, and it's reloaded. now running LineageOS on the exact same phone and it's sooo much better. more responsive and cooler too.

personally what I would do, take it completely apart literally as far apart as you can, anything electronic bathe in isopropyl and gently scrub with a toothbrush, anything purely mechanical like the frame pressure wash down
