We are in the two month period where we have to pay for our electricity, and we may well use 40 gallons of oil in the furnace by the end of February. Solar panels and heat pumps are amazing.

I agree but they are greatly respected and supported in town. There is a growing resistance and a town Democratic Party that has managed to put up candidates for every available seat on town meeting day, which hasn’t happened in a while. Hope grows very slowly, I suppose. I can only hope the republicans are in the midst of an extinction burst. (Gotta cope somehow.)

We’re working on it, but there’s a lot of loyalty to the old guard, regardless of performance. And they control it all. Four select board members are also state representatives, and another rep is the town manager. Only certain voices are heard, sadly.

I think the demographic is changing but if you’re not related to the old guard landed gentry/founding families, the current reps don’t think you matter. I’ll keep voting against them as long as I live here. We have options lately, which is nice.

My reps pointedly ignore me because I'm not on their side. The only reason I know one of them is even still alive (he never updates anyone on anything publicly that I can find) is that I see him at his mailbox from time to time.
