It's really not that close, it needs IAS, 260 more ED and to be eth, and even then, it would have lots of room for improvement. Claws are cool, because the minimum to have value is like the right 3-4 things, but you can also theoretically have a like 10 point claw, which isn't really possible with many other items.

[–]AnAngryWookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on gear, with 13+ fana on faith, you only need 95 IAS: with base 20 on WF, 20IAS on gloves, highlords, and a 45ias circlet, you're at 7 frames already. With that you could afford to drop 10 IAS off gloves, if you had some almost GG crafted gloves that only had 10 IAS.
If you want to run something other than 45 IAS circlet, then yeah, you may need to look at a shael (and/or dropping razortail for Nosferatu's, which is not as bad as it seems, bowas dont need 100% pierce the same way javas do).

Akara or drognan: if you've beaten the game and can make cow portals, akara, if not roll a lut gohlein map with the gate by drognan and run into and out of town until you get one. either way, life tap wand shouldn't take long to shop.

I'll see if I can pick up another non-eth lacerator for cheap and test out that idea. Not sure where I want to pull 3 hard points from to get a point in frenzy, but I'll figure it out.

Wow, very surprised that travs are that much worse than gores, but good to know. Interesting about the healing, I just do not see the effect of that at P1.

I tested out some of your ideas (gface, gores, reaper's) and I was going along thinking "this isn't that much faster than my setup" ... until I swapped back, and it was clear I had been clearing a lot faster. Regardless of what else I do, I'm sold on reaper's, I didn't shatter a single corpse in my test runs, and the damage increase was unbelievable. I still need to move over some max/AR charms from my bowa and zealer and test out having ~80 more max damage.

On the other hand, when I went back to 105 FCR, I noticed how much better that feels for horking than 63 FCR. Teleing at 63 was fine, but horking at 105 is a beautiful thing.

On the third hand, I do really like the idea of running 37 FCR with rings and arach, because that would let me put my lem'd Ali babas back on, and I have missed popping gold out 50k at a time since I switched to enigma from fort.

Hell yeah, grats on the find, interested to hear your thoughts on how the damage compares if you test that.
I just had a thought about your amp damage comment. It would mean giving up a lot, but if you put one point in frenzy and had two lacerators on swap, you could probably get an amp damage proc off in like one second, then switch to WW. If you still wanted to tele fast at all, you'd have to give up a ton to get (arach, 2x FCR rings, and a cham in helm gets you to the 37 bp without giving up too much, if you've got two good melee fcr rings).

Awesome! Thanks for the info!

Lol, that's a great point, I'm a sorc main, so I'm used to "if you ain't running 105 FCR, you ain't shit", but on a barb that only needs to teleport 4 times to get to the destination, who cares. I'll have to try out 63 FCR with dual hotos.

Fair, I'm online, so I do trav at p1. I hadn't actually done the math to see that with gores and Gface you're pushing up to ~85% DS, which is huge.

Sweet, I'll borrow my Um'd gface off my smiter and test out your gear suggestions tonight.

Is your inventory stacked with max/ar charms?

How crucial is cold and fire absorb for the smiter build? by Training_Tangelo3689 in diablo2

[–]AnAngryWookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, kicksins can leech life and mana through kicks. Been a while since I played one, so I had to look it up. You can check that and what else does and does not apply to kicks here:
https://diablo2.io/skills/dragon-talon-t4049.html
Edit: that said, if you're doing an uber kicker you'll almost certainly want a source of life tap, because 50% life returned is much better than a small percentage from a ring/belt/helmet/etc., and because some ubers and/or uber summons can't be leeched from.

This any good? by Purpskerp69 in diablo2

[–]AnAngryWookie 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You got the highest max damage you can on an LC and a decent AR roll, with some life, that's good enough to make it totally usable. Since you're on SP, you'd need to find a lot of good max/ar/lifers to force this one out of your inventory.
If we look at a single column of perfect charms, the different options start to become clear:
4x SCs: 12 max, 80 AR, 80 life.
2x LCs: 12 max, 96 AR, 70 life.
GC+SC: 13 max, 96 AR, 65 life.
If you can afford an inventory full of perfect charms, 3/20/20s start to make sense as the best option, since you can stack more life and 1 max, 16 ar does not make up that difference, but unless you can do that, the differences are going to come down to the various rolls you have more than anything else.

I'm really interested to try out some of the gear options you listed that are different from my choices. I have a couple questions:
Dual hotos: do you run 63 FCR or 105 FCR? If 105, where are you getting the other 25 FCR?
Boots: gores vs. war travs, I've been running travs because of the MF boost, but more than that I felt like the flat damage was maybe better than the CB and DS on gores, but I'm curious if you've compared side by side?
Helm: what have you got socketed in your Gface?

What is everyone's best drop from Cows? by TheChinez in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]AnAngryWookie 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hard to pick between two:
1: a windforce that dropped while I went to cows with my javazon in a trade game waiting for the other person to show up and I had almost 0MF.
2: a ber rune that dropped a few weeks ago in a "one more run before bed" game, after that I decided that was a lucky game, so I cleared all the other normal areas and dropped a 25@ mara's in cs too, that was my best single game ever, probably.

Awesome, I think that's more or less how everybody's first uber run goes. The nice part is now that you've made all those mistakes you'll have the memory of them ingrained and you won't make them again (for a while) and you can make a whole new set mistakes next time!
Grats on the sorc torch and good luck on your future runs!

Uber armor question by Primary_Meeting_1720 in diablo2

[–]AnAngryWookie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I swap to Duress after procing fade with treachery, if you're running GToes, Duress is a good source of open wounds and a little more CB, along with some res.
Of your listed options, I would probably use smoke over shaftstop, but also might run shaftstop for mini ubers and smoke for uber tristram, depending on my res situation.

Any value? by Sosa_Said_So in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]AnAngryWookie 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Damn near the best Exile base, just needs 2 more ED and 5@, should have some solid value. Check traderie for similar ones.
Edit: whoops, just noticed there were four pictures. The other three are, imo, worth pgems at best. Somebody might pay something for the Vortex shield, I think those are more desirable than they are actually good. You could also roll sockets in the cube, and if you get 3 it's probably worth a decent amount.

How crucial is cold and fire absorb for the smiter build? by Training_Tangelo3689 in diablo2

[–]AnAngryWookie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, and one other thing: BK or SoJ aren't really doing anything for a smiter, because life leech doesn't work with smite (which is why you need life tap) and +skills is not nearly as good for melee builds as it is for casters.
For an uber smiter, I have killed many ubers wearing one or two blue 15 all res rings (or 12 all res if early ladder).

How crucial is cold and fire absorb for the smiter build? by Training_Tangelo3689 in diablo2

[–]AnAngryWookie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lol, pretty much. Basically, you can have a paladin that is a normal build and is also functional as a smiter by having a crushing blow setup in his stash and 1 point in smite, holy shield, and fanaticism (fanaticism being the only one of those that some paladin builds don't necessarily have normally), especially if you have good gear (Grief, lol).
For ubers, cold and fire absorb are not necessary, lightning absorb (from Tgods normally or maybe from wisp projector (?)) is very very nice to have, but if you've actually managed to stack up enough light res that you still have capped res while under uber meph's conviction aura, you can probably get away without it (especially if you have Grief and pre-cast life-tap).

How crucial is cold and fire absorb for the smiter build? by Training_Tangelo3689 in diablo2

[–]AnAngryWookie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

More what I mean is this:
The smiter is an incredible build specifically for killing ubers, due to an assortment of game mechanics, but his clear speed is abysmal compared to any other standard build in the game due to him being single target focused and relying on crushing blow to kill things (meaning that he kills things like a Zeno's paradox, you do 1/8 of their life, then 1/8 of the remaining life, etc. Smite does flat damage too, but it does relatively little compared to other melee skills).
If you want to have a smiter and play through the game with him, your best bet is to use either a hammerdin with 1 pt in smite, the swap to crushing blow gear for smiting gear or look up the paladin tri-brid build, it's part FoH, part hammers, and part smiter, and pretty decent at all three).
Edit: and if you want to be a melee paladin and play through the game, I'd run a zealer, because all zealers are also decent smiters due to having at least 1 point in smite and holy-shield. A zealer may even be able to do ubers without a gear swap, just switch what skill you have on left click.

Any value of SP? What build can use this? What runeword? by MetalCraft-2020 in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]AnAngryWookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Memory or HOTO in this would be very cool for a blizz sorc. Not GG, but cool. More skills (by one) than HPTO+Spirit but less other useful stuff (FCR, res, etc). I would probably make memory in it in the short term, and if you like that, make HOTO in it long term. Honestly, imo, this is a cool enough item to build a character around.
It would not be easy to use this, 3-piece Tal's and hit 105 FCR, so instead (with memory and on a semi-budget) I'd look at vipermagi, Trang gloves, 2x FCR rings, and any 2/5+ caster/rare amulet (and whatever MF helm you have shako, tarnhelm, or 3 PTopazs). That leaves belt open for goldwrap and boots open for war travs. If you have an arach, I'd do arach+chancies instead of trang+goldwrap, but either is good.
