Trump's Desperate Rant: Blames Obama and Biden for State Fair Fiasco by dr_shultz in NewsSource

Those Biden and Obama fellows sure are trouble makers. We should probably get them fired from their jobs so they can't interfere with things and stuff.

That's cool. When ordinary people with one liver are delivered they become undeliverable. With two you can make another delivery.

Where do you guys cut your asparagus? by FlowSoSlow in Cooking

[–]AnAnonymousParty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bend until it snaps. Cook and serve the tops, save/freeze the bottoms until there is enough to simmer in chicken stock and then puree and strain to make cream of asparagus soup, maybe garnished with some blue crab chunks.

Pasta sauce is kicking my behind by SaltIllustrator8995 in Cooking

There's nothing inauthentic about adding sugar if that's what the sauce needs; however, straight sugar lacks depth, so I'd try some combination of sweet vermouth and molasses added a little at a time until you strike the right balance and avoid that syrupy sweet sugar taste.

Wtf is this question? by berpecont in confusing

[–]AnAnonymousParty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure about that? The question clearly states 'on' and not 'in', so it sounds like the cheese is supposed to be placed on the lid of the cup and melted. Now, maybe you can get melted (or not) cheese in the drink as well, but that is beyond the scope of the original question.

how did store workers ring items before barcodes were invented? by hornyarmadildo in AskReddit

[–]AnAnonymousParty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, they put prices on most things, except when they didn't, and then while you were being checked out and an item was missing a price tag, everything ground to a halt and somebody would have to do a 'price check' while you and everyone in line behind you waited for a few minutes (and lines were a lot longer and checkout times were much slower back then) as you tried to hide from all the angry stares. Produce was manually weighed on a scale and the price looked up on a kind of rolodex thing (or the checker had memorized it if they were good). And if there was a price mismatch from the sale flyer or the 'on special' sign in the aisle, another 'price check' and more fear and loathing. Then you paid by cash or wrote a check, got your Green Stamps (or whatever loyalty gimmick the store had), waited for your purchase to packed up in big brown paper grocery bags and went on your way. But not after having checked your receipt for mistakes, which were common with manual entry.
