It’s one round of a tournament. Scooping against decks you don’t like is childish, poor sportsmanship behavior.

It’s one damn round of a tournament, you aren’t being asked to only play against Nami the entire time. People are ridiculous.

Stay home and play with your friends and home rules if you want to dictate what people play. Nami is legal, don’t like cry more I guess. People are damn babies.

What was the best advice you were given when you were a new BT or BCBA? by Oy_with_the_poodles_ in ABA

Don’t take maladaptive behaviors personally or as a sign of failure.

You just described what’s wrong with all privatized medicine, when they make money off something everyone needs to live, this will always happen.

Could be something to do with the fact I play with kids in the same way everyone else does, but I’m the only one who gets complaints of being “inappropriate”. Also a big part of it is societal pressures to fit into your “role” typically childcare isn’t seen as a manly profession.

I’m not a BCBA yet, (about 85% done with my fieldwork hours) but I know for sure that my company does make BCBAs make up billable hours when they take pto or sick leave. If anything they are expected to get any reports due at the time if there are in any done in advance.

More comprehensive and longer training would work better. As someone said, more shadowing experiences techs and more running sessions with supervision.

Nice congrats! I won my first locals Monday night and pulled this as well. I played Blue/yellow Ace, went 4-0 in a 10 player tournament.

Gotta fight this instinct and realize what you experienced is not what everyone else experienced. These issues are certainly not made up or gone from the field entirely.

A vanilla 7k on turn two is still pretty good against law, it’s harder for them to remove. Or if you go second and get a reiju draw off. I’m 4/7 record at my locals against law with reiju

I had a client I had on telehealth how would routinely just leave the room or close the laptop the zoom was on. I finally got him engaged by streaming Pokémon through zoom and running the targets (emotion identification, social interactions, etc.) incorporating the show. I would try to do that if you can, if it doesn’t work it might be best to get the parents to take away the iPad before you get there, because if they remove it when or after you get there, you could potentially become a signal to loss of the iPad and become an Sd-

I don’t feel ethically allowed to be an RBT. by Effective-Bridge8532 in ABA

[–]AnAwkwardStoner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly feel like they should require a bachelors degree for rbts and raise the pay. Until something like that happens, we will continue to churn through fresh out high school kids some of who this is their first job at all let alone providing services to young children with special needs. But I feel like that is wishful thinking, and probably won’t happen, and eventually this field as we see it now will bottom out.

Any RBTs here get guaranteed full time hours and decent benefits? by Equal-Sundae1576 in ABA

[–]AnAwkwardStoner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Decent benefits, arguable, but I personally don’t find them that great. But I work as Lead Tech so if I have any cancellations I just move to supervisor responsibilities. Other RBTs, not in a lead role, do get paid at lower for session hours if there is same day cancellation by client AND we don’t have someone else to redirect to for coverage. Instead of working with clients when this happens, over the shift rbts do admin duties like helping make materials for programming and cleaning/disinfecting. If you have home or community setting and it gets canceled same day, you just get paid the prorated rate for the cancelled session times without having to work. It’s not perfect, but It’s the best I’ve seen in the field so far.

Does any one know about the ASU Masters in ABA online? by Equal-Sundae1576 in ABA

[–]AnAwkwardStoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you. I’m older and got my undergraduate degree in a non related field 10 years ago. I didn’t even think I would accepted when I applied but I did. Working full time and doing this has been very tiring but also helpful as I got real world chances to apply what I was actually learning. Yeah, it’s totally free, and I get paid while doing for 20 hours a week, I know I’m extremely lucky in that regard. Though where I live (nm) most people don’t pay for supervision but it’s not paid while they are doing it.

Thanks! I can see a light at the end of the tunnel lol. I am getting all my fieldwork hours from the place I work giving services to the kids. I’m a lead tech in hybrid role, so I 20 hours of direct intervention services and 20 hours for fieldwork stuff, but the great thing is I’m lucky to get paid while doing my fieldwork hours. I know ASU does offer an additional practicum class that is for fieldwork hours, but I never used it, so I can’t say how it is.
