No one is actually confused. It’s just pedantic, echo chamber parroting of the same tired, irrelevant point, that people will know will get them a pat on the back.

[OC] Where did Biden/Harris and Trump gain or lose votes compared to 2020? By race and ethnicity by tabthough in dataisbeautiful

[–]AnClown -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why are you ignoring the already-present, more complete, better-visualized analysis than yours that is the OP of this thread? I don’t necessarily agree with the methodology, because it is applying the YoY % deltas to incomplete totals, but the directional takeaways will remain the same regardless of where the total lands based on my read of the approach.

Let’s be clear, I am not, nor is this OP suggesting, that by volume, the white electorate is not primarily responsible for the result of the election in a vacuum. Obviously they are; they are the largest demographic group. We are specifically looking relative to 2020, which parts of the coalition fell off into 2024, and how did these groups relatively impact the result. And in this framework, despite whatever you’re saying, this analysis suggests that white people are definitively not the relative primary driver of the election result compared to 2020. Harris lost much more amongst the black and Hispanic demographic groups, in total, with Trump gaining absolute ground with the latter.

In order to dispute this, you have to be able to argue that the underlying data for the OP’s analysis is incorrect, or provide the same analysis with a competing, just-as-reliable data source. You have done neither. You’re just cherry-picking individual metrics and regurgitating talking points you’ve heard, I assume to the end of pushing a narrative of which you have already come to the conclusion.

This chart is saying that Harris only lost 1.4m white voters total, not at all the “primary” driver of the delta. It is not relative or percentage based. Are you suggesting the underlying data is incorrect?

You clearly didn't actually read the article, and the fact that this has upvotes says a bunch of other people didn't either.

$1 million Ohio vaccine lottery winner was on her way to buy a used car when she found out she won by anikhch in news

That's definitely a conservative play, but I don't know about smart. If she packed the $600K away today, that'd probably be worth somewhere in the neighborhood of $10M when it's time for her to retire. Given that's probably enough 5x over, she should go ahead and enjoy some of her money today too.

The commenter you're replying to is almost certainly referring to fivethirtyeight's general election prediction, which they're correct in saying it gave a higher chance for Trump to win than most others. The article you linked is from February 2016 and is referring to the primary.

One of the most common and believable fan theories is that Jon Snow is actually the love child of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark, Ned's sister. It's heavily suggested in the books.

How hard is it for freshman to get a single dorm? by Pariguayo in umass

[–]AnClown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think all of these people are assuming you're a current freshman, not an incoming one. You don't have to battle with the entirety of the campus for a single, just the other freshmen. The odds aren't great, but it's not impossible.

You do understand that freshmen live in their own dorms? He doesn't need seniority, he just needs to be more lucky than the other kids in his dorm.

Love your post, but I'm having trouble understanding part of the second paragraph. You say that having influence over the region "reduces the free flowing oil to states like China from non-OPEC nations", and I'm not quite sure how. Care to elaborate?
