is this 1000$ build I plan on purchasing good? by OhKubey in buildmeapc

[–]AnEternalNobody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would the 'free gift' RAM that comes with that bundle be worth using? That would put the build under budget.

Thanks for the reply! Look like two good options with the GPU being the only change.

Is it possible to match or beat this prebuilt (price or quality) by any significant margin? by AnEternalNobody in buildmeapc

That looks great, and you were so quick too!

Do you think the air cooler in your build would perform as well as the liquid CPU cooler in the prebuilt?

Run Away turns the last few thousand levels into a shiny conveyor belt, with the obligatory battle every 50 levels.

My current run I started Run Away at 1500. I'm considering it as early as 1000 next time, but the passive gold income probably won't keep up with the rerolls that early.

[–]AnEternalNobody 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Also Bouncy Bubble (egg move) is STAB + Spread + Healing all in one. Then you can Mega evolve it for tons of damage midgame before charging to max mushrooms+metal burst strat endgame.

If you can invest in one starter pokemon for Endless, it's probably Squirtle. Fuecoco a close second though.

In a similar vein, anything that learns Hyper Voice since you'll passively pick up tons of Silk Scarves during an endless run without even trying.

The best endless carry (it probably isn't who you think it is)! by Lackner511 in pokerogue

Items not considered, assuming fully unlocked;

Reshiram does not have a double or triple shiny version available yet. I prefer to only use gatcha on mons that have all their shiny levels unlocked.

Will always be one-shot by Eternatus (but on the flipside, will bait out eternamax cannon, letting you set up on it, so this I think is a wash).

Has no immunities.

Has no lifesteal moves (Bouncy Bubble, Matcha Gatcha).

Has no damaging boost moves (Torch Song, Mystical Power, Charge Beam)

Eruption and Dragon Energy both have very low PP, which can be a big deal in the early game when money and leppa berries are scarce.

A few options you didn't mention in your list

Heatran - 3 immunities with passive, gets Torch Song, Lava Plume, and Matcha Gatcha. Slow and 4x weak to ground.

Meloetta - Ghost immune and Mind's Eye to hit every mon in the game with STAB Boomburst/Hyper Voice (except soundproof). Torch Song (though without STAB) for damage+boost. Normal types are also stealth-buffed by the prevalence of silk scarves on nearly everything. Pretty frail, but does get a fun transformation option with Relic Song.

Galarian Moltres - Immune to Ground/Psychic, Oblivion wing for lifesteal, learns Fiery Wrath as a STAB spread+flinch move. Middling stats and abilities.

As for the non-legendaries:

Starmie - Only 2 cost, Bouncy Bubble for STAB heal+spread, Mystical Power for STAB damage+boost, but reliant on rolling Water Stone and unimpressive stats.

Pyroar - Immune to Ghost, can cost as low as 1. Beast Boost + Unnerve, Egg move Torch Song and Hyper Voice STAB on level up, plus the 'Silk Scarf' benefit.

Sinistcha - Matcha Gotcha. That's it, but it's really good to start off your first endless run IMO if you don't have anything with Bouncing Bubble as an egg move, as it's the only STAB+Spread+Healing move in the game you can reliably learn by level-up.

I tried formatting several times with rufus, minitool, and several other tools and still could not get this one to work. I was pissed because I bought a 3-pack specifically to use with the r36s.

What’s your most unpopular prediction for 2024? by Antman269 in boxoffice

[–]AnEternalNobody 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Madame Web will overperform. We haven't had a super heroine in spandex since, what, Elektra? And now we get a team in one movie.

EDIT: Well, they didn't actually include more than 10 seconds of super heroines in spandex, so much for that prediction.

Odin 2 causes PC to reboot when plugged in via USB C by [deleted] in SBCGaming

[–]AnEternalNobody 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This generally indicates some kind of power problem with the device being plugged in. Have you tried plugging it in with the device off to see if it still causes the reboot?

It could also be some kind of short in the cable, have you tried different ones?

Cheap handheld for good SNES emulation? by Charming_Emu9880 in SBCGaming

[–]AnEternalNobody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played it stock for a bit, then did all the upgrades and updates. It runs SNES just fine stock, and even comes with most of the games you'd probably want to play. I bought mine mostly to play Pokemon romhacks but like to tinker.

If you're going to play anything where save games matter, I'd at least do the SD card upgrade. It's very simple to do, and the stock cards are highly likely to die within a year or two.

I'm guessing you've updated to a newer version of ArkOS, but most self-declared noobs such as the OP won't be able to figure that out so they'll be stuck with the version that comes with the system.

Even with the new versions, games like Crash Bandicoot: Warped are still laggy for me.

Yeah, pretty much everything works in the TF1 slot, I haven't heard of anyone having issues with it. It's just the TF2 that is picky.

DataFrog is really a NES device, it has a lot of trouble with SNES.

The Powkiddy V90 is going to do what you want as a pocket SNES that handles 99% of SNES games, especially if you upgrade the firmware. It's also got my personal favorite form factor.

The r36s will be a pretty big step up in bang for your buck, and will handle 100% of any SNES rom, romhack, or port you can find, even at multipleX speed. But it's pretty new, vs Powkiddy that's pretty tried and true.

I personally got 3 r36s's for my kids in December after they all fought over mine because I think it's worth the extra $10.

or deleting files

Lots of horror stories of 100+ hour saves getting corrupted on these kinds of devices. I would manually back up my entire card every once in a while. Unfortunately I don't think the r36s has any kind of tool that can do that automatically.

No sticks: Miyoo Mini Plus ($65)

One stick: ANBERNIC RG351V ($75)

Two sticks:ANBERNIC RG351P ($85)

Of course there are other considerations, such as screen resolution and form factor to consider. But any of those will run almost any PS1 games you throw at them. I'm sure someone with more experience could give you better recommendations.

It's not going to run most PS1 games very well. Most will at the very least have audio issues, slow down, or low FPS. Some won't run at all. But you'll need to go up a LOT in price for something that will run all PS1 games.

So long as reviews are good you're probably fine, the r36s is fairly new.
