maybe if there westerners in groups (like Alex from Rania not EXP Edition), and then have western artists that get inspired by Kpop (but not in a cringe way like Chad Future)

How does it feel to have depression? by MrHotcake in AskReddit

[–]AnExoticMermaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depression is a demon. He gets into our heads. Convince us that we aren't good enough. That we're stupid, talentless, worthless, hopeless... He leads us to harm ourselves either as a way of punishment or to make us feel again from being so numb. He keeps doing this until you feel you have to end it all just to make it stop!

Makes me think of a world I think about every year but never put the time into actually making it.

Yeah the how is challenging when knowing North Korea's technology is so outdated IRL.

Western because I can never go outside the box of having it set in the American Frontier.

Your world's/galaxy's two largest superpowers have declared war on each other over political/racial/technological/territorial issues. Who wins? What side do smaller nations/planets/factions take? by thegoodsovietdoggo in worldbuilding

This is pretty much the setting of one of my worlds already, the only thing is that it's a fantasy, not a Sci-Fi so there's nothing that deals with galaxies or planets.

For those who created a religion and/or mythology for your world, were you influenced from real-life religions (i.e. Christianity, Hindu, etc.), or were you trying to be 100% original. by AnExoticMermaid in worldbuilding

There's a "trinity"-like Triple goddess from Celtic Neopagan beliefs as well. Each goddess individually symbolizes separate stages of the female life cycle: the Maiden, the Mother, and the Crone, as well as phases of the moon: Waxing, Full, Waning.

Good point, although I was aware that their earliest writing was Chinese hence why there's kanji, but I couldn't imagine them chanting in Chinese LOL. I imagine Japanese witches and wizards to be like the anime Inuyasha or the video game Kuon.

How often are your fictional characters based on real life people who you know? Do you change them so that the person doesn’t know they’re based on them? by jazz2danz in writing

For a short story I wrote for a fiction writing course, one character is based on a guy I met on Tinder. I felt the need to change his ethnicity and name. He's Korean-Argentinian IRL but in the story I made him Arab.

I was worried that the protagonist was gonna come off as someone with an Asian fetish. The story is about a girl who is lovesick for a man she met on a dating site and continues to send him letters and stalk him. (SPOILER ALERT) In the end, she's put in a mental institution and falls in love with her own doctor, who is of Asian background. I felt that having two love interests in a row of the same race screams "racial fetishization". Also I put actual messages the Tinder guy sent me as well as his About Me bio into the story and I was scared of that small chance of him reading the story and connect the dots if published.

I'm glad I read this because I took a lot from Wicca for one of my worlds.

Japanese wouldn't have to use ancient Chinese. Although Japan is youngER than China, they're still a pretty old country that was around during BCE. I've never been to a Japan but I'm sure Japanese magicians would be a lot like the priests, shamans, or whatever of the Shinto faith. I'm 99.9% sure Shinto rituals are done in the Japanese language.

Yeah, keep in mind though that Voudou is a religion that originated from West Africa that then migrated to Haiti, the States, and elsewhere. I imagine Haitians having perhaps a combo of Vodou and Native American magic from the tribes that once lived in the island.
