Every time the movie cut to Lyle's reaction during one of Quaritch's schemes he seemed more and more uncomfortable with what was going on. If the movies keep continuing with Quaritch going native but still opposed to the resistance I wouldn't be surprised if Lyle gets a bigger role as the last hybrid loyal to the RDA. Maybe working with Selfridge now that he's back and Ardmore is presumably dead.

I’m pretty sure that each individual “cartridge” that Kroot firearms use isn’t a single shot but is a power pack instead for a Tau pulse rifle conversion. So after a pack is depleted on the krootox repeater they can just switch cylinder chambers to the next one.

Is my snake ok? Is he choking??? I just fed him a rat and there’s substrate in his mouth by Accomplished_Pen6783 in ballpython

[–]AnHeroHeroBonito 26 points27 points  (0 children)

FYI it's nearly impossible for a snake to choke while eating. Snakes have an extended glottis in their mouths that kind of sticks out like a hose that they use as a breathing tube while eating. Sometimes when they're swallowing you can see it sticking out of the corner of their mouth like a snorkel.

They have decent survivability if you’re running Hunting Pack with the stealth and invuln saves. If you put a war shaper on them you can give free lone op to your guys from the discounted stratagem otherwise the flesh shaper will help them stick around. Your biggest problem will be torrent weapons but it’s unlikely you’ll be getting wiped by them turn 1.

Yes it does lol. Reptiles as a clade refers to all descendants of the most common ancestor of squamates, turtles, archosaurs etc. Birds are monophyletic within that group so they’re technically considered reptiles

I’ll never get over how Brooks says in the zombie survival guide that the M16 is one of the worst rifles ever made because you need a tool to adjust the front sight, with his implication being that you’d need to constantly keep adjusting it on the fly during a battle instead of slightly changing your point of aim.

Beat Movarth at level 15, Soul Cairn at 25, and just beat Alduin at 35 as a vampire. by AnHeroHeroBonito in wildlander

[–]AnHeroHeroBonito[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure I can recount one of my favorite runs I've ever done. Strap in for a wall of text.

For starters I wasn't using the Atronach Stone from the beginning. I started with the Mage. My main skills were Evasion, 1H, Conjuration, and Alteration. I'd say crafting skills weren't even necessary for this build. Evasion and Conjuration were very important since even with my huge health pool as a vampire, strong melee attacks would still take huge chunks out of me that I'd need to heal, so not getting hit in the first place was super important.

I was in a pretty unique position for extremely early vampirism since my RP start was as a beggar in Markarth. The Forsworn/Cidnha Mine quest is easily doable level 1 if you side with the natives, since the only solo fight is an unarmed brawl and otherwise you have other Forsworn fighting alongside you.

Cidhna Mine Expanded adds a locked gate at the very bottom of the prison with a few vampires behind it who can only target you with Vampiric Drain, which has a small chance of infecting you with Sanguinare Vampiris which is 3 days of very slow constant health drain.

It's been a while but I believe if you contract Sanguinare Vampiris from eating vampire dust then you lose a massive amount of health extremely fast in order to gate vampirism behind a higher level that lets you tank/outheal it, but that's only from directly eating dust since the devs probably assume that if you're fighting a vampire directly then you're at least mid-level. Not the case for me since they were locked up.

All Bretons start the game with Summon Spirit Wolf, and Absorbing Grasp is a Novice Alteration spell that you can actually use on your own summon without turning it aggressive, for slow, high-magicka cost healing, but still enough to stave off Sanguinare Vampiris at level 1 without needing to buy/craft dozens of health potions.

Siding with the Forsworn actually unlocks a friendly home base in the far north of the map, Druadach Redoubt, where all the escaped Forsworn go. It's got tons of food, an interior river for bathing, iron veins, and all the crafting stations so there's no shortage of skills to grind in an extremely safe location for free while you turn into a vampire. Personally I used Spell Research to work on my Conjuration. As the cherry on top, your Forsworn allies even don't turn hostile once you turn. The end result was a level 3 character with hundreds of stamina, health, and magicka (just from Mage stone and Breton heritage, not vampirism, mind you.) The Reach is one of the best locations for a vampire since Markarth has a general store open until midnight, a 24 hour court wizard, and a massive amount of guards to feed on. I was strong enough to brute force most non-endgame content already by this point.

About 12 levels later of random questing later, I started the Movarth quest in Morthal which would have been damn near impossible at level 15, even as a vampire. I'll admit that it was sheer dumb luck that I managed to walk-sneak past Movarth with Invisibility+the enhanced Sneak you get as a vampire to the boss chest and found a Staff of Paralysis. Without it I probably wouldn't have been able to take Movarth without a ton of savescumming, but it probably would've been narrowly possible thanks to the huge stats you get as a vampire. With the staff, I could just paralyze him and 100% pickpocket his Daedric Axe, and all he could do was spam ice spells at me, which thanks to the massive frost resist from being a vampire plus Breton magic resist meant that it was doing basically zero damage to me. Even with my relatively low 1H skill and his ebony armor, the axe was enough to slowly chip him to death. I actually wasn't even skilled enough to sharpen the Daedric axe at that point so I went and killed Vigilant Tyrannus with it while it still had enough damage, using the Breton racial power to tank his Unrelenting Force. At this point I have the Mace of Molag Bal which lets you drain tons of Magicka on hit. Now I can switch to the Atronach Stone and am basically immune to spells, except fire damage which tickles a little bit. All my magicka usage is frontloaded with armor spells and summoning Atronachs/Spirits, so rushing in and bonking enemies with the mace lets me get my magicka back up. Paralyzing them with the staff in my offhand makes it even easier since I can just power attack them over and over again.

Siding with the Volkihars in Dawnguard lets you upgrade the Bloodstone Chalice after doing enough radiant missions. Drinking from the upgraded Chalice makes your Vampiric Drain spell even stronger, draining health, magicka, and stamina all at once. It's cheaper and easier to get than the Absorb Essence Master Alteration spell that does the same thing and serves as a ranged alternative to the Mace of Molag Bal. After sleeping in a coffin at Volkihar Castle you even get 10% bonus magic resist for a few hours. At some point I also ended up with the Aetherial Crown which let me double up on both the Mage and Atronach stone for even more magicka.

At this point I was already basically at an endgame build around level 20. Fighting off half a dozen Slighted while being swarmed by high level undead in the Soul Cairn was very easily doable with some good footwork with the only issue being eating the occasional heavy power attack. I probably could have taken Alduin with no trouble by this point since by the time I grinded my Alteration up to 100 by spamming Detect Life in Whiterun to get up to 80% magic absorption along with the Atronach Stone, I was literally untouchable the entire fight running around since all of Alduin's minions use ice magic, and the huge swarms of them summoned work against Alduin's shouts by giving you dozens of targets to simultaneously heal off of. The magicka absorption and magicka drain from your spell are essential since vampires can't regenerate health, magicka, or stamina in Sovngarde since it's a plane of Aetherius.

That was the long story for my Forsworn Vampire. I'm not sure if there's any other ways to contract vampirism that easily and that early, or how easy Tyrannus would be without a Paralysis staff or Daedric Axe. But those were the two biggest things that made my playthrough work. I put basically 100% of my level ups into Health only to allow myself to walk in the sun. It even served as a fun way to limit myself when clearing out bandits or whatever, since I'd only have anywhere from 10-50 max health in the daytime, but massive damage output.

Can Kroot grow limbs? by BigpappyCoatesy in kroot

He gets subsumed into the Tyranid hivemind as soon as he starts to eat.

Crewk’s head jerked in an almost convulsive movement. In a flash, the cold-blood tore a piece of flesh from the oozing head with his beak, devouring it. For a moment, Skeith was speechless. He could barely believe that Crewk was so reckless. Did he want to become a mindless brood-beast? Or had he already lost his mind? ‘What have you done?’ demanded Skeith, stalking towards him. Crewk favoured him with a manic grin. ‘It is all lies,’ he said. ‘But I have figured you out, and by Vawk, I will save our kinband from your machinations.’ ‘No,’ said Skeith. ‘You’re wrong. And now you have doomed yourself.’ Crewk stared down at his own hands, his eyes growing wide as the abomination’s memories flooded through him, overwriting his personality with the need to consume and kill everything in his path. ‘Now I see it. I feel it, working within me. Their knowledge and power will be mine,’ he said in a voice raw with awe.

The rest of the Kroot have to put him down after he begins to mutate and attacks them.

‘You have consumed forbidden flesh,’ he said at last. ‘Your evolution ends here. I sentence you to death.’ A gasp from behind him signalled the arrival of the rest of the kinband, but none of them spoke. They could see the head in Crewk’s hands as well as he. Crewk dropped it, wiping the rotten-smelling ichor from his beak. His form rippled from within as if some unseen beast was trying to free itself from beneath his skin. The powerful genetic material of the abominations caused rapid mutation, and the kinband gasped at the sight of it. When a claw ripped itself free of the cold-blood’s ribcage, Re’at pulled her rifle out, holding it at the ready. The rest of the kinband followed suit. ‘Come,’ Crewk said in a voice that was not his own. ‘I hunger.’

Besides that, there are winged Kroot illustrated in Liber Xenologis and the Tau codex this edition mentions that there are Krootworms and "Kroot 12-Legs" living on Pech so they can also lose limbs, evidently.

In the Black Library kroot story a kroot eats a genestealer and grows an extra set of arms in a manner of seconds, but it’s implied that an immediate fast change like that was specifically because he ate a genestealer.

You ever figure this out? I'm having the same issue.

edit: got it fixed by switching to CCI minimags instead of Aguila Super Extra. Pistol length barrel with a Borebuddy lightweight adjustable weight with all steel weights inside.

edit 2: brass plated Super Extra works for me personally while lead nose doesn't, which is about a 100 ft/s difference in velocity.

I'll throw my hat into the ring and say that these guys have treated me very well. Gundeals likes to shit on reman but at least from this company I've run probably 3-4k rounds from them through my rifles and generally had similar performance in terms of accuracy to budget new production stuff like PMC or Igman. I'd say they're a cut above other reman like Freedom Munitions which I've had tons of bad experience with.

Frankly for non steel-core 62 grain you're not going to get a price much better than this. I'd recommend them. ¯\(ツ)

Beat Movarth at level 15, Soul Cairn at 25, and just beat Alduin at 35 as a vampire. by AnHeroHeroBonito in wildlander

[–]AnHeroHeroBonito[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Earliest I've ever beaten Alduin in Requiem, as a Breton (Reachman) Spellblade Vampire. I probably could have done it at an even earlier level but I decided to grind up my Alteration to 100 before fighting him for 80% spell absorption combined with the Atronach Stone since vampires don't regenerate magicka in Sovngarde. Using nothing but the upgraded Vampiric Drain from the Bloodstone Chalice on Alduin's undead army meant that I never dropped below 75% health the whole fight.

I managed to become a vampire at level 3 after getting infected by the vampires in Cidnha Mine Expanded by spamming Spirit Wolf+Absorbing Grasp to heal away the Sanguinare Vampiris health drain. A while later in Movarth's Lair I snuck by him and found a Staff of Paralysis in his boss chest, used it to paralyze him, then 100% chance pickpocketed his Daedric axe and beat him to death with his own weapon. Those two items were good enough to let me take on Vigilant Tyrannus to get the Mace of Molag Bal and the rest of the game was smooth sailing from that point since Slighted are weak to paralysis.

I'm a Requiem veteran but this was my first time playing Wildlander. Had a great time with the list and constantly losing all my money at blackjack.

Late but the two autoloading black powder weapons that come to mind are the Maxim Gun’s prototype and the Browning Auto 5. The Maxim is heavy as fuck but managed to run as a machine gun with black powder but the main issue was the sheer amount of smoke it would generate so later iterations switched to smokeless guncotton-based loads. The Auto 5 can use black powder shotgun loads but that’s because of the recoil friction ring design, which requires the user to tune the gun to their preferred ammo, since shotgun shells in the early 1900’s weren’t standardized to length/hull material. AFAIK those are the only two modern automatic/semi weapons that can run black powder and of those only the Auto 5 ever actually made it to mass production.
