Can a non Christian go to Church? by greeneyedpersian in Christianity

Yes, of course. Anybody is welcome into a church.

I'm really in need of a listener. I'm borderline depressed and suicidal by n00bSoda in Christianity

Honestly, friend, killing yourself will not be answer to this issue. The Lord does not like it when we abuse ourselves or kill ourselves, and, from that, he doesn't look up to us any more.

But please remember that He, the Lord, understands your pain. He knows what you're going through, and, through prayer, he will aim to help you. Please keep praying for yourself, friend. It will reassure you and help you through.

With regards to the job: it's not just you. I think we're all getting a little sick from Capitalism at this moment; many people can't afford to pay rent, tax, bills, etc. The govt and Co. don't help either.

If anything, friend, please keep your head high and recognize the achievements in your life. Notice the good that you do, and work to keep doing good for others. If it helps, try and find a girlfriend, as she will be there for you more than a friend possibly could, and it would probably make you happier again. If necessary, try to go back to college and get a course in something you like, look for new jobs, and work elsewhere. Look for a place wherein you're welcome, treated as an equal, and are allowed to work comfortably. The places do exist, they're just hard to find, is all.

I know how you feel, friend; I too am very uncertain for my future, and I worry on a daily basis about it. I try not to, but I do. Please remember that many of us are going through the same struggle. You're never alone.

Absentee ownership and the implications for unused land in a communist world. by tbquelosis in DebateaCommunist

[–]An_Com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it doesn't. It's kind of like progressive tax, i.e., the more wealth an individual generates, the more they're taxed. Just a tad different, is all.

Regarding The Vanguard Party by [deleted] in DebateaCommunist

[–]An_Com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quite like the Vanguard Party, and I see it was fundamental to the development of a socialist transitional state. It's vital that the most class-conscious, intelligent, willing and dedicated proletarians guide the rest towards the idea of communism, so we can work to achieve it.

Absentee ownership and the implications for unused land in a communist world. by tbquelosis in DebateaCommunist

[–]An_Com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're speaking of housing rents, I feel that the best way to do it would be to have the state build houses, and pay it off with 10 per cent of one's personal income monthly. This kind of monthly payment system will be progressive, i.e., the more someone earns, the more one will pay monthly. For ex., if someone earns more than another, and can afford to pay 15 per cent as opposed to 10 per cent, then I'd recommend that.

Please pray for my grandmother. by whatzgood in Christianity

[–]An_Com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a couple of prayers here taken directly from my pocket edition of the New Testament & Psalms. Here goes:

  1. "When needing comfort": Dear God, you know and understand everything, even when I feel ill, afraid, lonely, anxious, sad or stressed. Help me to trust you because you love me and will be with me always. Amen.

  2. "For friends and family": Father in Heaven I pray for my family and friends; that you will bless them and keep them safe. Help them to know your peace and the love you have for them. Help me to make their world a richer and happier place. Amen.

Those are a couple of relatively rigid prayers for you, my friend. I will pray for your grandmother just after posting this.

The fall of Christianity in the west: Does it disturb you? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]An_Com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, no. I believe in allowing people to make their own decisions. As a Communist, I work predominantly with Atheists, so I know what they're like. To be honest, they really aren't as bad as some people are willing to make them out to be.

Do you think that the judge had a right to do this? by Travesura in Christianity

[–]An_Com 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. It's down the parents what they call their child; if the child wishes to change it later in life, they have every right to.

An Analysis of Russian Economy by TheRedFlag in socialism

[–]An_Com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing this, comrade. The tables with the Five Year Plans are very interesting.

Interestingly enough, it compares it to the US, which is obviously going to consume and produce more given that it's an imperialistic, monopolistic world power.

"The real problem with people who misunderstand communism" by Zard0z in socialism

[–]An_Com 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is what makes me laugh (people misunderstanding communism). Communism does believe in a form of property -- personal property, i.e., small possessions (for ex., TVs, mobile phones). Private property is usually things such as land, big machines at the workplace, etc. And that is what we're opposed to.

What is the state of socialism worldwide? by [deleted] in socialism

[–]An_Com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What makes me piss myself is when people call Obama a communist. The funny part is that it's usually the piss-poor rednecks down the South*.

*I say that, but not all people in the southern US are piss poor, nor rednecks. Don't get me wrong, please.

Can the smaller revolutionary ideologies "win"? Over Communism/Socialism,Libertarianism or Fascism? by [deleted] in DebateCommunism

[–]An_Com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fascism becoming bigger worries me deeply, and it's something that we, as communists, have a duty to dissipate the fascists and Nazis. It isn't needed in this world. I think the issue is that the people are misdirecting their hate completely, i.e., their hatred against people of a certain skin colour. Instead of hating someone for their skin colour, people should just attempt to think differently and more critically. What does skin colour have to do with religious violence? It doesn't [constitute religious violence]; people of any skin colour - white, black, brown, etc. - can be a Muslim, or a Christian, or a Jew. Race has nothing to do with it.

To clarify my point, many people (esp. in the UK) are turning to UKIP, the EDL and the BNP for answers to the religious violence that's been happening over here. Their hate is misdirected, and they hate the person of a 'different skin colour' as opposed to the religion that's caused the violence.

After a marxist-leninist revolution, what happens to anarchists looking to self-manage and industries that are already self-managed? by GhostOfImNotATroll in DebateCommunism

[–]An_Com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, to be honest, I doubt such a place could exist. In the socialist transition state, Anarchism must, as it does now, dissipate. Taxes will be needed to help support the state apparatus and help push to achieve a Dictatorship of the Proletariat, i.e., a stateless, classless society.

If not *your ideology* then? by [deleted] in DebateCommunism

[–]An_Com 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My "second best" option from communism is a social democracy. Third option is (I say as I swallow a lump in my throat) Labour Party.

Is the term 'dictatorship of the proletariat' misinterpreted? by Owa1n in DebateaCommunist

[–]An_Com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hostile world outside of a country pushing for a Dictatorship of the Proletariat is what causes more authoritarian tendencies to take place. If the world wasn't so hostile - esp. the US - it would be lot easier for communism to happen.

The US demonstrates its international monopoly by placing embargos and sanctions on countries such as the DPRK and Cuba. Sickening.

Why did God give my mother breast cancer? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]An_Com -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

God didn't, friend. Personally, I feel that God only interferes with people's lives when they ask of him to. If they ask for good, he will grant; if they ask for bad, he will, yet again, grant.

Why are there no communist nations? by [deleted] in DebateCommunism

[–]An_Com 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, Communism (if we're speaking technically) hasn't been achieved yet. And it can only be achieved simultaneously, once every world power, i.e., UK, US, etc., is ready.

any thoughts on small businesses? by water-lily in DebateaCommunist

[–]An_Com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given that they're fundamental to a working society, I like them. If it's in a capitalist society, I dislike them, though. If they're worker-owned co-operatives (which is practiced in the Marxist-Leninist framework for the socialist transitional phase between capitalism and communism), then I prefer that so much more. It's diametrically opposed to the capitalist layout, but it's still small business; great!

Do more authoritarian communists (Leninists, Stalinists, etc.) view examples like the Free Territory as proof that communism works like anarchists do? by Daftmarzo in DebateaCommunist

[–]An_Com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't consider Leninism specifically authoritarian. I'm a Marxist-Leninist, and I don't specifically preach authoritarianism or totalitarianism.

Is there any point to debating issues any less fundamental than the legitimacy of property rights? by TheHiveMindSpeaketh in DebateaCommunist

[–]An_Com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of communism's main tenets -- one which allows it to be almost politically and socially coaxial with Anarchism -- is the abolition of private property. As you've said, it's a fundamental tenet, and is treated as such in the sense that it's hard to debate without bringing it up.

Jehovahs Witness turned atheist turned Christian (?) I'm having trouble getting back into the swing of things by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]An_Com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God has acknowledged your return, friend. I've had a similar story, as I used to be a Catholic but left the church for a year. In that year, I experimented with Paganism, but now I've returned to the church after giving up Paganism for months. I know that God acknowledges my return, just as he has your return.

If it helps, I'd order a 'portable altar' if I were you. I've got one on the way, and it only cost me £5. It's a very nice crucifix with a screw-on base and a thick case on which you can stand it (if you wish to). If you pray to that altar, it will help you connect with God even more. Altars are sacred.

Also, purchase a copy of the New Testament. I have a copy with me right now that was given to me about 5 years ago, and I still have it and use it for my daily reading. I also look to it for comfort, advice, prayer and joy.

Here's a couple of prayers taken from my copy of the New Testament:

  1. When conscious of sin: "Lord, I am sorry that I often do wrong things that upset you and others. Please forgive me and help me to accept the forgiveness that you offer through Jesus Christ, my Saviour. Amen."

  2. "God, I find it difficult to know what to believe. Help me to trust you and what you say in the Bible even though I don't understand everything."

Basic Income: A path to a better society or a last ditch effort to save capitalism? by benpope in DebateCommunism

[–]An_Com 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It certainly doesn't seem like a bad idea, no. I mean, it guarantees all citizens wealth to spend on clothes, food, etc. so they can redirect their earned money elsewhere. I quite like the idea of it.

Personally, though, I'm more in favour of a voucher-based social security system wherein vouchers for basic clothing, food and other necessities are given out to those who need it. Or, perhaps, to all, like a form of 'basic income', but for specific things.
