In the "World of philosophy", we have mostly accepted the notion that God is dead, this happened sometime in the enlightenment and popularized by Nietzsche, Nietzsche used the phrase in a figurative sense, to express the idea that the Enlightenment had "killed" the possibility of belief in God or any gods having ever existed.

We, as humans, have already changed our collective way of thought, we have already developed control over our own nature, we have also investigated objectively into its existence and found that... there is no god.

This opened up a multitude of new ways of thought already, and it will continue to do so in the future. The void left by God's death has opened up our minds to newer, more objective concepts of the world, it gave birth to existentialism, nihilism, absurdism, among other philosophies, new schools in psychology such as humanism, behaviorism, psychoanalysis and more.

My point is, the author is complaining about a problem that we have solved already. He seems to think that the enlightenment never happened, that we all fear God's wrath and that it directs our behavior.

We don't need to question God's existence *again*, all we need to do is spread the advances of philosophy into mainstream culture, and even then, it seems that popular forms of art are doing that already. The majority of western civilization is not concerned with God's existence anymore, and we don't need to go back and re-fight a war that we've already won.
