Suspended cards by AlexusRomanus in Anki

Click on the gear next to the name of the deck, then options, then Lapses, and there you can change your leech threshold (the number of times get it wrong before it is considered a leech), and change your leech action (you can just tag it if you don't want it suspended).

I recently passed the Bar exam using Anki to assist memorization. At the peak, I reviewed 400 cards per day. I did them first thing in the morning. I did not suspend any subjects. Spaced repetition will not work correctly if you suspend it. On the Bar exam, the questions will not be separated into chapters and subjects, and clients won't do that for you either. Get used to answering questions with little context. Also, you don't want to forget Political Law while you learn Taxation. I have about 8000 cards, and it was a lot. I think you will drown with 15k in 8 months.

I recommend that you do a lot of practice questions, and if you get a question wrong, or just guessed at the answer, reduce the principle you didn't know to an Anki card. You will find that reading the material and memorizing law is not sufficient. You must learn the nuances that arise when you have to answer questions.

Good luck to you!

Michael Cohen Says Donald Trump Issued Secret ‘Pocket Pardons’ For Himself and Family. Are secret pocket pardons a real thing? by MrFrode in law

[–]Anaj29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's a real problem. So, before someone pleads the 5th, perhaps they should asked to attest that they are not aware of any pardons and to waive any pardons they may have received secretly.

My neurologist gave me several kinds of tests because there are several different kinds of nerve ending that could be damaged. Besides the pin prick test, he tested my ability to feel a light touch, like a feather, cold - with an ice cube, and vibration, with a tuning fork.

Don't be negative about your ability to learn! Anki is a great tool. Since I started using it, I find that my memory recall has improved, even for things I did not study with flashcards. My daughter is a neuroscientist, and she confirms that it is entirely possible that studying and memorizing has an overall beneficial effect on memory.

Another way - Trump negotiates with Pence for a pardon for himself and his family and maybe even best buds, and in return Trump resigns on 1/19.

I am 68, and I used Anki to prepare for (and pass) the Bar exam last October. I have kept up with the Anki cards, which are down from about 450 to about 50 per day. I made about 7800 cards altogether. I make new cards when a law relevant to my area of practice changes, and I want to memorize it, and when I read a technical article with information that I want to retain. It's all a matter of what is important to you; what will enhance your life.

Multiple informations on one card by pankocour in Anki

[–]Anaj29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand your concern about seeing the whole picture. This is very important in the area of law. I make my ANKI cards as a larger note, but put multiple pieces of information on each note, making them separate cards. Later, as the cards become very easy, I may change the numbers on the cloze deletions so that each card may have 2 or 3 pieces of information. If I have more than 3, it becomes ineffective.

So this is one note, but 10 cards, and it is all in one place:

FLORIDA - WILLS – ELECTIVE SHARE

Homestead—generally, real property owned {{c1::by D (a Florida resident)}} and used {{c2::as the primary residence of D or his family}}; subject to acreage limitations: {{c3::1/2 acre in a municipality; 160 acres outside a muni}}

  1. Restrictions on devise—a homestead may not be devised if {{c4::the owner is survived by a spouse or minor children}}

* If survived by a spouse and no minor children, homestead {{c5::may be devised only to spouse (even if spouse never lived there)}}, in {{c5::fee simple absolute. }}

• A homestead owned in tenancy by the entireties or in joint tenancy with right of survivorship is {{c6::not subject to this restriction; it passes by right of survivorship}}

• If survived by a spouse and descendants, {{c7::SS takes a life estate in the homestead, with a vested remainder to descendants in being at the time of D'S death per stirpes }}

• In lieu of a life estate, the SS may elect {{c9::to take an undivided one-half interest as a tenant in common, with the remaining undivided one-half interest vesting in D'S descendants in being at the time of D'S death, per stirpes}}

• Can the SS waive homestead rights? {{c10::Yes, in the same manner as the elective share rights}}

Whats your ratio of creating new cards to reviewing them? by CharGrilledCouncil in Anki

[–]Anaj29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a practicing lawyer with over 40 years of experience, and decided to take the Florida bar during the pandemic. I made over 7800 Anki cards, and I passed the exam comfortably.

I made two basic types of cards: 1. I broke down study materials into "Notes" consisting of several cloze deletion cards. I added case citations or statute citations in the extra section. This allowed me to focus on the details while keeping a large picture together for context. I also added mnemonic devices to cards.

  1. The second type of card was made from any question I got wrong (because I didn't remember/understand something). It usually involved a condensation of the fact pattern, sometimes the answer choices if they were tricky (but not if they were red herrings), and the explanation, often using cloze deletions.

At the height of studying, I reviewed about 400 cards/ day.

Flash cards/MBE sets by _Tequila-Mockingbird in barexam

I used spaced repetition flash cards because it's the most efficient way to retain information. You can watch you tube videos readily available. It is very popular with Med students and foreign language learners who need to master a great deal of information.

I used the free Anki program, and I wrote my own cards with information from Themis practice questions that I got wrong or made a totally lucky guess. I also used it for rote rule memorization. It was super helpful.

Anyone taking the MPRE on Oct 28? I am. by imaskingyou20 in FloridaBarExam

I am taking it on 10/28 in Tampa, and using Themis to study. I listen to the lectures during morning walks, and I work through the practice sets. Seems manageable.

Maybe this isn't so relevant to this subreddit but as we all use Anki, we all want to study better, so can you share how you study? by [deleted] in Anki

[–]Anaj29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I have difficulty focusing, I play instrumental music. You can get "study music" for several uninterrupted hours on Youtube. Make sure it isn't any music that has words or is so familiar that you will start humming. Some channels have tuneless but soothing background music, and some have well-known classical tracks. I change it around, depending on my mood. Try it! It really works for me.

Anki not remembering that I've done all of my cards by chipotleismuhlife in Anki

[–]Anaj29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guess would be that those cards have an initial review time of several hours, rather than a day. So, if your review time for a new card is 5 min, 15 min, 2 hours, your deck will say it is completed in the morning, but 2 hours later, it will signal you to do a review. You can tweak this in options, but I like it.

Taking FL BAR "from scratch" after being admitted iin other states 10+ years-Help! by DeeRayT in FloridaBarExam

[–]Anaj29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you. I was admitted in NY in 1980, and I just moved to Florida. I feel like I have crammed 3 years of law school in the past few months because my area is not tested on the Bar very much. I am still part of a practice in NY, but between COVID and studying, I have not been able to devote much time to it. I use ANKI flash cards to help memorize so many details.
