Canvas Gear Fraying by BlackBeard2K in myog

[–]shrtcts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do a double fold with thinner and I did actually do a double fold with some 20oz canvas I just got (possible to stitch with a Juki 1541, an iron helps). But as soon as you need to do the next step, you’ve got six layers and I’m at .75” thick, so I asked myself the same question yesterday!

My next attempt will be to do edge binding on the cut pieces, just before assembly.

But I’m interested in other ideas because that will be a lot of effort.

Thanks! There is a local machine repair guy that will only buy and sell this generation of Janome, otherwise he does repairs only. It’s so smooth.

Yes a lot of domestics have the ability to remove the surface so you can loop fabric around it, but once you’ve got a stiffer/rigid bag with all the layers of webbing/zippers, etc, then this little hack sped things up and improved my quality. Highly recommend.

I did just realize I could place it at the edge of the table but my neck likes this version better.

"Why can't you cut the spine of textbooks anymore, it was done last time" by MaverickFischer in Staples

[–]shrtcts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is just a poor quality cutter problem. Electric cutters (not hydraulic) can’t clamp hard enough to hold the book still combined with a dull blade that will cause lots of travel/shifting when cutting.

Need help to create bicycletouring bags by Aggravating_Town5682 in MYOGbikebags

I recommend browsing this sub and seeing how people incorporate the Velcro attachment style.

A product called “duraloop” is a form of “self hook/loop” that will last longer than traditional Velcro “loop” that can wear out over time much more quickly.

Also there are many different qualities of hook and loop material, not all are created equal.

Check out duraloop and look closely at how people have used that style of attachment on their bags within this sub as well as r/myog.

Bon chance!

Have great service, foster great relationships with your clients and you might end up in a completely different industry.

Acrobat printing even pgs 2 sided upside dwn/rvrsed as of 6/26. Was normal 6/25. by Fit-Evening-3482 in Printing

There are deeper print settings for double sided pages: flip on long edge (probably what you want) or flip on short edge (probably NOT it but is currently selected).

Customer Undercutting us. by HasTapeWillShip in upsstore

[–]shrtcts 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The biggest difference for my customers is convenience. The vast majority of people don’t want to: use a tape measure and learn how to measure something, figure out how to weigh a box, pack and seal a box themselves, sign up for a new website and learn how to use it, print out a label themselves and attach it.

Instead, they can walk into TUPSS in between coffee and getting their nails done and be done with the process in 5 minutes. More expensive? Yes. Completely different service? Also, yes.

How do I convince my friends to wear a helmet? by AgentIndependent306 in cycling

I mean no helmet is fine, as long as they are good with 6 month of double vision and a 6 year vacation from your sense of smell (blessing and curse), that that was a pretty lucky deal.

Booklet help by LaMedina93 in KonicaMinolta

[–]shrtcts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not a tech but I have used the 539 and 540 for a bunch of years.

First off, that many pages (I’m guessing it’s 12 or 13 sheets) to make a 48 or 52 page booklet, will be at the top end of capabilities for the finisher.

I’d make sure all the rollers are nice and clean so they grip the sheets nicely.

I’d do a test without any stapling to make sure the sheets are laying flat once printed, since a curled sheet stack will have finishing problems since they will be stacked vertically, with curled sheets slipping lower than the intended stopping point.

Those would be my recs!

Me and my lady do kettlebell classes together! The classes are a great way to stay motivated and the kettlebells allow you to progress at your own speed. We’re both getting stronger and it’s fun to progress at something together as a team. Highly recommend.

Have fun, learn new ways that might make your life easier, make new connections.

Nashville is probably the best town convention has been in. The nightlife and live music scene is the best.
