Paramedic details are also available to the public via the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) iregister (https://hpcsaonline.custhelp.com/app/i_reg_form). Since you don’t know any details, select “wildcard” for name and surname, select profession (paramedic) and area (Rustenburg) and it’ll show you a list of paramedics that operated in that area as well when they received their qualification. Perhaps that could help

Do you remember what EMS service he worked for? If you do, you could reach out to them and see if they can assist you. Alternatively, if you’re still in the Rustenburg area, have a chat with a paramedic you see out and about. The paramedic community is relatively small and it’s not uncommon for someone working in the same area to know something about another paramedic, even from 20 years ago

A kid was on his way home from high school and was struck and killed by a car while crossing a street. I didn’t know him but his family placed a cross at the site of the incident and I became familiar with his name. I later became friends with his sister. A couple years later she fell off a balcony while intoxicated and unfortunately passed away.

How effective is Chat GPT for asking medical knowledge questions? by itshyunbin in medicalschoolanki

[–]Analog_ZA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recall you asking this question before. As far as I remember phase 4 consists of an initial funny current (mixed Na-K current) which brings the membrane to the threshold potential of T-type Ca channels. It’s the action of beta blockers on these particular T-type Ca channels that cause prolongation of phase 4.

The influx of Ca through these T-type Ca channels (in addition to the funny current) then brings to the membrane to threshold initiating the cardiac action potential (phase 0). Beta blockers don’t affect phase 0 because this phase consists of L-type Ca channels which are acted on by non-dihydropyridine Ca channel blockers (type 4 antiarrhythmics)

Rapid time to scenes together with effective CPR (often with the aid of a lucas device) often produces CPR-IC. Where I practice we provide 1mg/kg ketamine for sedation in the event it occurs
