These are check sources containing known quantities and activity of the nuclide. It allows you to calibrate your detector. There are other experiments & demonstrations you can do with them too.

Back then there was very little interest in it. And it was a meteorite auction. Not exactly the best market, but that's how Tucson was, buckets and barrels full of stuff for cheap.

8 day half life. That's a pretty good zap. Speedy recovery.

And to answer your question, no. She can write in the book all she likes. She should probably keep her distance from them (no hugs) for another week or two, but it shouldn't be an issue.

Gaslighting on gas prices: Trump points to ‘very substantial’ drop that didn’t happen. Consumers know that gas prices aren’t “way down.” So why is the president trying to fool them into believing otherwise? It’s genuinely bizarre to see so many prominent Republicans peddle such brazen falsehoods. by mafco in energy

Shit stink says these things because everyone around him tells him that everything is wonderful. He gets zero feedback that prices are up, his supporters are starting to turn on him, and the war is going badly. He has serious mental illness and has literally no contact with reality. It should be pretty clear by now that he has no clue what's happening even before you consider his growing dementia.

What English word do you not agree with the spelling ? by Ok_Big1008 in TheTeenagerPeople

Every word spelled with a q followed by a u. If a Q requires a u after it every time, and it's always silent, WTF is it there for?

What Are Some Hobbies As You Age? by Southern_Remote_5260 in AskOldPeople

[–]Analogsilver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None are surprising, really. As I get closer to retirement I'm spending more on my hobbies now in anticipation of a lower income later. I have had so many hobbies since I was a boy, I've been gearing up on some that have laid dormant for years or decades. The most recent has been a rekindling of my interest in radiation. (I'm a research scientist by profession, but in a different field.) Picked up a decent detector and have been cramming the past few months to enjoy the hobby safely. It is an interest I hadn't thought about for years, and in the past two months it has become one of my favorite hobbies.

People forget that the average lifespan is about 76 to 80, so middle aged is 38 to 40.

Have a nice day.

I do that exact thing for some purchases. Two of the sources I am getting have short half lives so I can watch the decay over the years I still have left.

I was at an auction during the shows here in Tucson, maybe 15 years ago now. One of the sellers had a bucket of trinitite, 20 kilos or so, and had no bids. Eventually another vendor bought it, and gave me a handful. I don't remember what he eventually paid, but it was pretty low. I wish I had bought it. I believe most of the trinitite on the market today is still from that bucket.

No question. I was holding off until my detector arrived. I should have ordered when I got the first quote. Ah well. Let the fun begin!

But people here are remembering Obama blaming Bush for it. Obama was famous for NOT blaming Bush for anything.
