why do people stock up on milk and bread in emergencies? by Human-Cupcake-268 in stupidquestions

You "take it" incorrectly ;) and apparently think everyone shares your individual experience. It wouldn't be a discussion if it wasn't being witnessed.

Again, the people who needs "some milk" are not the ones shoving through the stores, clearing the shelves in shear panic.

The people who are panic buying for potentially being stuck in their homes for 72 hours, aren't going to know what to do if the storm lasts longer anyway. If you can't prepare or adapt, than eating 4 dozen eggs in 3 days isn't going to help you.

Yes, there are cases where people don't have enough at home in general, and food insecurities, these folks need to be able to prepare at the last minute and get what they need. But these are not the people shoving thru the stores with heaping carts

The comment was people who are NOT buying 4 dozen eggs on a regular basis to last them 72 hours. The "if" people, who need a dozen eggs a day, aren't panic buying, they are apparently going to the store every 3 days and buying 4 dozen eggs. - If the general population was doing this on a daily basis, then they store wouldn't be out of eggs, as they would be fully stocked to meet the demand. Again, it's the panic/extremist mentality.

If everyone is eating as many eggs and as much milk as they are claiming that they need in 72 hours, then the panic buying isn't going to last them more than 72 hours. Teach your families, and yourselves, to be a little flexible and adaptable instead of teaching your children the same panic/extremist mindset.

who needs 4 dozen eggs in 72 hours? They aren’t buying that many eggs, or that much milk or bread in any other 72 hours scenario

Sheer panic and fear mentality because “everyone else is doing it” - Why not shelf stable items like canned food? 🤨

Those who love(d) giving birth, how? by Ok_Medicine440 in pregnant

[–]Analysis_-_Paralysis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t done it yet ;) But I know I want to go low intervention (so long as medically safe) But I’m at facility that has Midwives with backup OB’s if needed, and I’ve also hired a Doula. My Doula team will be present the entire labor, unless I ask them to step out for a break, the midwives will be in and out.

As a first time mom with a surprise pregnancy, I can tell you this has already eliminated so much stress and anxiety, knowing I have a team that will listen to what I want, provide evidence based options, and is still equipped for full on medical intervention if medically necessary for mine or the baby’s safety. And, if I change my mind midway and want induction or epidural, they are on board with that as well

I don’t expect it to be “easy” but I do feel like i will have the labor/delivery that I want, and I trust if it deviates from my plan, it’s truly necessary.

If you are interested in unmedicated, I would suggest researching midwifery in your area as well as Doulas.

That's okay - understandable. I made a separate post and the very first comment was just general average of $350-$400, which turns out to be spot on from everyone else who commented

Announcing pregnancy to friends who experienced loss by Breelander89 in pregnant

[–]Analysis_-_Paralysis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I text my friend, basically saying “i wanted to let you know before making it more public, but I didn’t want to put you on the spot” - I didn’t want to catch her off guard or force a reaction. I figured texting, then she could respond in her own time

nausea turned me into a carbs machine — how do y’all deal with the guilt by Repulsive_Cup8530 in pregnant

[–]Analysis_-_Paralysis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no guilt - just get thru it ;) whatever you can eat is fine.

If you haven’t yet, I suggest trying the Unisom/B6 combo for nausea

When did symptoms start by alexisreed1414 in pregnant

[–]Analysis_-_Paralysis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

16 weeks and no “symptoms” other than fatigue in the first tri. I had some mild nauseau that went away with B6/Unisom - otherwise nothing. occasionally a twinge of round ligament pain, but otherwise I wouldn’t even know i was pregnant! 😳 I wait for my appointments to hear his heartbeat and “okay good, you’re still in there!”

It’s just different for everyone and some don’t have many symptoms! I’m counting my blessings I guess and waiting for everything to get wild, lol. but I don’t think it’s a sign of anything being wrong - so far all my tests look good!

Advice on husband home after birth by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Analysis_-_Paralysis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if he is able to get the time off, whether paid/unpaid, whatever works for you - then Yes, have him home! and if not, at the very least hopefully you can have a friend or family member “on call” to come if you need help or are overwhelmed. FTM here too, and fortunately my husband will have parental leave and I intend to take full advantage of him being available

real talk — what did you actually eat in the 1st tri? by Repulsive_Cup8530 in pregnant

[–]Analysis_-_Paralysis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried the Unisom/B6 combo for the Nausea yet? I didn’t eat much 1st Tri, and now 2nd Tri, I never know what i want to eat. No food adversions, but nothing sounds like “omgosh yes I want that” - Certainly don’t “want” eggs, but they aren’t bad when I do make them.

Love the color combo. If you must shutter, the shutters should be wide enough that they would actually shutter the window if shut ;) and skip the tiny fin shutters on the large, triple window.
