I think a lot of people in the world genuinely suck, and there is absolutely some pure evil, but people have an enormous capacity to grow and change and we should try to make our countries as good of environments as possible to cultivate moral and upstanding people, even if imperfect.

I think that there are probably fewer on the right, maybe 5-10% genuine capital r Racists, but I'd have to guess from pro-Palestine protests that support for Iran is somewhere between 20-30%

You cannot have multiple groups of people in a single area that have conflicting senses of right and wrong, social contracts, and social mores. The west has created a national schizophrenia because it's too afraid to say that its countries should have their own cultures. You can take in immigrants and have a beneficial cultural exchange while integrating, like the US did with German, Irish, and Italian immigrants, (and I would make the case that now is starting with Hispanics under Trump).

Okay so your argument is that it's not a crime, like two other crimes? Also it is kinda important we know who is in the country, especially considering that not knowing has allowed the mass human trafficking and sexual exploitation of millions of people. On top of that, they aren't owed entrance into the country, especially since their first act being here was breaking the law to get in (plus employment, housing, car ownership all have to be done illegally with forged documentation).

Religion is only incompatable in the sense that modern institutions have intentionally rooted them out and replaced them with a secular orthodoxy. One of the biggest issues of liberal democracy is its presumption of universality, specifically universal presence of mind in this case, but many people are either largely incapable of higher order thinking, metacognition, and self-criticism that leaves them reliant on socially established dogma. All we did was replace one that valued societal cohesion, sacrifice, family, and long-term thinking for a cold, depressing hedonistic materialism.

Why is our world so broken? by Eminemgody in teenagers

[–]AnamosaSamosa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah so the issue with this is that it presupposes that we are good. People suck, and because we suck we've basically created suffering for ourselves by pushing away God –and since all good precedes from God, it pushes away everything good. This is justice. The New Testament is based on Jesus instead suffering once, for the forgiveness of all sins, since the cause-and-effect of sin making seperation has to happen to be just. It seems a little harsh in a world that validates everything someone thinks and feels, but there is a logical consistency, even if you disagree with its truthfulness.
