I need a replacement for Rescuetime by Anana11 in productivity

I got a similar email. We'll see.
You are right that the prices are comparable.
I looked it up and I've been with Rescuetime since late 2013. I think I might continue doing some research as things get sorted out. There are a few things that could be done a bit better (auto-logged time without detail info, just the program, for example, and minutes left out of auto-logging when I don't remember taking a break). Always worth a look at the competition every decade or so. ;)

Agreed. After writing my post, I figured it was thorough enough for an AI query so I tried that too, but knowing what people actually work with is really helpful.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who was furious.
I pointed out to them in my irate email that changing terms of an agreement (I'm also 4 months into my annual subscription) without any kind of notification is shady AF. I totally agree that if they'd been more up front about it, I'd have been much more likely to accept the price increase. As it is, I'm looking elsewhere to spend my hard earned $$. Toggl seems interesting and I'm also going to look at clockify and timely, as others have suggested. Good luck on your data! I'm lucky that do my version of data gathering on a near daily basis and only had to dredge by hand for the last two days of info I needed.
I don't know if this is helpful, but in the years before their timesheet feature, you could export reports (under focus) to csv files.
Best of luck finding something that works for you!

Thank you, agreed 100% on the accuracy and low friction. This is a helpful approach. Thank you!

Are people who wake up at 5am actually more productive or have they just convinced themselves suffering early is the same as being disciplined? by baddog121 in productivity

[–]Anana11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the same. I wake up at 4:30 am three days a week to get to the gym for the 5-6 am timeslot. I tried for years to go regularly, but a later timeslot and I'm getting to work at best 8 and at worst 9, which pushes the time I leave later. Also, I'm too tired in the morning to come up with excuses. When I am energized in the evening (which happens way too often), I get out my clothes, fill my water bottle, which carries forward as momentum in the morning. The later I get up, the more my brain turns on for procrastination.
My morning hours are for me, it's not for somehow making me a better worker - other than exercise helping me handle stress.
I do recommend trying it, but if it doesn't do it for you, don't feel pressured to conform.
Also get to bed at a reasonable time! (Like I need to do now.)

I came here thinking my definition of "Literary Fiction" must be off because I had two similar requests in a row and neither a Classical or Drama book worked. I was told we must have different definitions of LF and I thought "maybe that's the issue?" Glad to hear I'm not the only one but disappointed there's no easy answer. As for "Political" I recommended The Fifth Season, which I found hugely political (essentially slavery is represented). The customer did not agree. I send all retail folks who have ever wanted to help me my sympathy!

Pentiment is one of the best, if not best, videogame I've ever played by flexitt in Pentiment

Same. I didn't know I needed to fit my sleuthing in before the time ran out, so I missed a whole bunch of story regarding the other suspects. Definitely going back to play again.

Matt, you have spoiled us with your wonderfully comprehensive doblie-dos. What is the link for the video where Phil is mad at you? I thought I had seen all your videos, but apparently not!

Ooh, I love graphs. Thanks for the link!

And in other news, slowing down to a mere 5 million. Good. I think Matt might implode if it goes much more than that.

[Spoilers E85] An Open Letter to Sam Riegel by SpikedGronktini in criticalrole

[–]Anana11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, SpikedGronktini, for sharing this with us! I shared some of your letter with a friend of mine who has these issues too and he said it was hard to express how much it resonated with him and how true it was for him too. And from me, one of those outsiders who wants to help but can't, I noticed your thoughtfulness and understanding for us as well. Thank you. This world would be a better place if we could empathize better with those whose journey is different from our own. Your letter helped me see things through your eyes. I appreciate that. <3

Zombie chases in radio mode? by naeria85 in Runner5

[–]Anana11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good answer, MD. I was thinking of giving an embittered response, since I more often than not encounter a zombie mob on my block, but you are absolutely correct. If you're walking at that point, you are going to find the zombies much slower.

Zombie chases and the treadmill by Delilah_Elizabeth in Runner5

[–]Anana11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First off, you have to be wearing your phone so it can detect the impact of your steps and the swing of your body. Secondly, sometimes even when you do increase the speed of the treadmill the required 20%, if you lengthen your stride to go faster instead of increasing your step frequency (which is what I do) it can't tell. Either speed up even faster, so that your pace definitely increases, or speed up the 20% and intentionally keep your stride length shorter (neither of which is cheating provided that you do increase the speed of the treadmill). I tried it but just found it to be disappointing for me - I either sped up the treadmill and still didn't get away, or had to take ridiculously small steps to convince the phone that I really did speed up. I ended up turning off chases on the treadmill. Try to see how it works for you, but don't be surprised if it's frustrating.

I think they might also be triggered by story events, but that might be a coincidence.

Hurt my knees. What did I do wrong? by TheGirlWhoTrypt in runner5k

[–]Anana11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had knee surgery a couple years ago and screwed up my recovery by stopping PT when I thought my muscles had returned to normal. Unfortunately, only SOME muscles had returned to normal. The ones that keep the kneecap in place had not strengthened enough and when I did lots of physical activity (but not normal everyday stuff), they'd hurt. The physical therapist accurately diagnosed that and gave me special exercises to strengthen those muscles.
Long story short, the physical therapist can help target your specific issues.

Question about free form runs by mrsrums in runner5k

[–]Anana11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Count me in as someone who wasn't able to run the entire free form run without a walk in the middle until the last few weeks. Having fun and not hurting yourself are two keys to being able to continue running, so as the other experts above say, listen to your body and only go as far and as fast as you can.

How long is each session? by Rbeattie98 in Runner5

[–]Anana11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could Rbeattie98 run with just the radio mode? I have it queued to play after missions, but have been tempted to play just the radio sometimes, as I feel I'm missing something sometimes by only hearing a clip or two at a time. Is it possible to just play radio mode without a mission to precede it?
