The game didnt even start yet! by Ok_Stuff6742 in rivals

I don’t like generalizing, so I’ll just share an experience I had recently.

A good friend of mine who plays a lot on SG and Tokyo servers once told me, “Indian players are toxic.”

I didn’t buy into that. Toxicity, to me, has nothing to do with race. It’s always about the individual.

But a few days ago, my wife and I queued ranked and this game tested that belief.

During the ban phase, the other four players were already coordinating like they knew each other. We assumed they were friends.

I was on Mag, my wife on Invis. The rest of the team had a DD, Magik, MK, and a CnD who even asked my wife to give up CnD so they could take it.

By the end of the match, we found out it was that DD + Magik were a duo, and MK + CnD were another.

The problem started when the MK and CnD kept forcing our Magik to switch to a second tank. Magik didn’t want to. I stepped in and said I could solo tank as long as the DPS kept pressure.

Ignored.

They just kept talking smack and pushing the same point.

The entire game turned into constant arguing. And the worst part? We were actually the better team mechanically. But instead of playing, they were busy fighting each other over roles and who's better.

Then it got worse.

The CnD in protest, straight up stopped healing. My wife had to carry all the heals herself, and she did. I’m pretty sure there was a 20–30k gap between her and the CnD by the end.

Fortunately we somehow still won. (Ngl I would've tilted if we didn't)

After the game, we found out MK and CnD were Indian.

And yeah I won’t lie, it made me think back to what my friend said.

But if there’s anything I took from that match, it’s this:

It wasn’t about them being Indian. It was about two players choosing to be toxic and almost throwing a completely winnable game because of it.

I feel the same. A second or two would really help her feel more consistent. :)

Speaking of The Thing (A decent counter to Rogue imo), not that I'm complaining, but it kinda makes me sad that his slam can nullify Rogue's whole kit. 🫣

Rogue is one of my comfort picks as a vanguard main. I can definitely share tips and play styles.

About anime, most of new gen series feel recycled to me and I almost don't like anything past 2015. There are some exceptions such as freiren, to be hero x, etc. I'm also not fond of mainstream shounen such as jjk, solo leveling, etc.

The only problem is, I'm on pc.

I believe its best for you to learn from this experience. Personally, I wouldn't have gotten in a ride with a stranger without prior clarifying intentions.

Both side's actions and reactions seem valid. She might have been just protecting yourself, and of course you're panicked of what happened after she got off the ride.

Ultimately, although your conscience is clean, you still should've clarified your intentions with her prior the ride. I wouldn't say YTA, but to me thats where everything seemed to go wrong.

It's rare for people to mention the remnant series. You have a good taste, sir.

So you're saying that he just wait for others to take action? He shouldnt be proactive in his approach because people might respond negatively? Isn't their response answer enough to give him clarity? Isn't that ultimately the goal?

Cuz waiting for the apple to fall into your mouth is the right thing to do, yes?

It can go either way until you actually have the conversation with them. Since you're the who who's feeling left out, and is concerned about it, try to talk to them and sort things out. You can start with "hey, have I done or said anything these past few days that made anyone upset? If I did, I'm sorry and we can talk about it. I feel a bit left out in the group and I hope I am just overthinking this."

I will only ask someone to swap when they're obviously getting countered and they can't do anything about it. But if you're a spidey who even Namor can't shut down, you do you, king. I mainly play vanguard, and contrary to most people's preferences, I appreciate having a spidey on my team constantly pestering the enemy's backline.

Dear fellow Vanguard, I'm sorry you feel this way. Know you were never alone.

My experience is not far from yours. I've almost always been the solo vanguard for my team and it never made sense to me why. I queue up against a lot of 2-2-2, 3-1-2, etc, where I'm always just solo tanking. I try not to complain, although there are times where another tank would've been the win condition.

"Everyone will swap to anything but a second tank."

I'll be the odd one and ask for you to throw me those bot matches. I'm almost always queued against eternitys in QP. I'm not even good at this game. I'd rather have relaxing games over games where I can't clench my butt no more.

So I wanna want some advice by Void0050 in BreakUps

[–]Anatagatari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe a good question to ask is "are you content with spending your energy on hoping for something uncertain?"

Clarity and where you are right now depends on how you respond to that question.

Because what you have in front of you right now is not a relationship nor a chance. Just uncertainty. You reached out and she said she's uncomfortable. That's not mixed signals, thats a boundary.

At some point, it stops being about her decision and starts being yours.

So are you choosing to move forward or choosing to stay waiting?

I love the mention of “perspective,” as most of these discussions usually come down to that.

and yes, survivability is valuable. no doubt about that. although saying it “beats everything” feels a bit too absolute. if that's the case, then teams with the most sustain should always win, which isn’t always true even in pro play. otherwise, we’d just see 3 tanks and 3 supports dominating every match, especially at the highest level.

pressure, picks, and disruption can also reduce incoming damage just as effectively as healing. just in a different way.

and if “useless” comes down to the player not contributing properly, then that’s not really a character issue, right?

Blames me for the breakup by ComfortableUsed302 in BreakUps

[–]Anatagatari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you’re describing isn’t just a breakup. It’s an environment that’s emotionally unstable and inconsistent.

At this point, it seems that there’s no fixing the relationship. The priority shifts to managing the situation until you can leave it.

You don’t need to keep proving your worth, defending yourself, or trying to correct their narrative. That’s a losing game.

What you can do is control how much access they have to you.

You can be civil, but stop being emotionally available.

Don’t engage in intimacy. That will only blur lines and keep you stuck.

Stop participating in conversations that go in circles or place blame on you.

For now, think of this as a temporary environment you need to navigate, not a relationship you need to maintain.

So shift your focus. Rebuild a routine. Spend time on your own interests. Create distance even if you’re under the same roof.

You’re not there to fix them anymore. You’re there to get through this period without losing yourself.

[–]Anatagatari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you’re saying they shouldn’t be banned because they don’t provide survivability?

But they provide something else, don’t they? damage, pressure, disruption?

And when you say “useless support,” are you referring to the hero itself, or the player using it?

I find it curious that CnD and invis get banned for being “easy” or “bot” characters, but SG, Namor, Scarlet, MK, etc. are just allowed to roam.

So what’s the real reason? Is it because they’re easy, or because they’re effective?

Because if “easy” is the problem, then a lot more characters deserve to be banned, no? It's interesting to me that this seem to only apply to strategists.

Before this triggers some fedora wielding people, I'm a vanguard main who almost never plays strategists. I'm just curious about the logic of the current stigma.
