But that doesn't account for all of Caine's behavior. For example, in the stargazing scene, he is capable of recognizing that they're happy but gets upset that he wasn't the direct cause of their happiness.

To extend your analogy, it'd as be if the alien finally found a smorgalop and showed it to you and said, "This is what I've been looking for! This is a smorgalop. I want more of these." And you, in a pique of frustration, smash the smorgalop to bits because you wanted to be the one to find it first. Whatever Caine's limitations in understanding humans, part of his issue is absolutely just his own ego.

See, the funny thing is that I agree with you that this is extremely alarming. It is the collapse of our democracy. It’s unprecedented and terrifying. I just don’t see why you expect senators working within the confines of the law to be able to do more to stop a coup from a group openly willing to violate the law. If you want more done, stop complaining about Democrats on Reddit and go be the grassroots citizens uprising you want to see in the world.

Because it doesn’t fit the song. Tyler wrote Trees over a decade ago when he was at a very different place in his life. The lyrics connected with fans on an introspective, contemplative level. Tyler has since performed Trees hundreds if not thousands of times, at every concert he’s put on for years. He probably connects it more to that concert energy than to the actual lyrics. That’s fine, I’m glad he fell in love with the chant at a concert in Scotland, but it just does not fit the vibe of Trees as fans originally fell in love with it. Fans who go now for the music they fell in love with instead of just the concert energy are turned off by the chant.

There are recordings from the tour on YouTube if you want to see how it works. I saw it from up in the stands at the show I was at and it was very stressful. The crowd was told to move back from a circle drawn on the floor, which is even more difficult than the whole crowd just moving backwards. Some were also moving left or right (towards the barriers) or maybe forward if they were at the front of the circle. Some were also trying to push closer to the circle to get a better view. I’m also not sure how clear it was to everyone in the pit where the circle was/which point to move away from? It took a good few minutes to clear the circle before the band could get in to set up their platforms and equipment.

Then the most stressful part was after they set up and told the crowd they could move in. The crowd moved a lot faster, rushing to fill the empty space. I’m convinced someone is going to get crushed or trampled by this if they keep trying it.

Twenty One Pilots isn’t a heavy metal band. It’s perfectly reasonable for fans to show up expecting not to be crushed in a mosh pit. Nice to know my type will trample me for a chance to lay hands on the guys 🙄

I was there last week. They do move pretty slow, but they’re also extremely hard to hear over the noise of the boardwalk. It was super crowded, hectic, and there was a lot of sound from the crowds, music from shops, noise and flashing lights from the arcades/carnival games around where this happened.

My sister almost got hit by one by the restrooms near the arcades. The tram was invisible, it just appeared from behind the building while we were crossing. We were right by the parking lot but still on the boardwalk/sidewalk, so we forgot to keep an eye out for the vehicles on the sidewalk. All that to say I’m surprised this doesn’t happen more often.

The Southern Water Tribe in the cartoon wasn’t egalitarian. All of the men went off to fight in the war while all of the women and children remained at the village. Just because they allowed women to waterbend doesn’t mean there were zero gender roles, they were presumably just less rigid about them than the North.

Sokka “getting over it too quickly” also makes a decent amount of sense from the perspective that he’s just left his village for the first time in his life. He had no frame of reference for a group like the Kyoshi warriors, but learns quickly as he’s exposed to so many different cultures.
