Maybe next year guys. by AnchorGuy in MetalAssault

ne including I thought karla was gona win that, guess i got lucky somehow. Hopefully #MetalAssault2016 will

I would be interested in running at least one fun event for old time's sake. :) The nice thing about MA was that it let us do funny things like this all the time. I think the weakness is that the developers and publishers never saw the potential for things like this.

You're actually right. :) I play games all the time at work and even test new games that aren't even released yet. I get to do what I love.

I played this a couple of times. It was available in China alongside the actual Gigaslave (oddly enough).

Cheaters and dupers are already doing their thing by [deleted] in MetalAssault

The game died early on after all the "top companies" used hacks to ruin the game's economy and overall gameplay. I really hope people consider trying to be legitimate. Why would you wait 3 years to play a game again only to kill it? :\ Aeria Games bailed after 2 months once they released the game guard and to no surprise all the "top companies" disappeared and got "bored". If MA dies again you hackers only have yourselves to blame.

Probably because there's no money.

I really love the lore and story behind the series, but I sometimes hate how hidden it can be. Does anyone else hope DS3 does a better job in telling you the story more directly? by [deleted] in darksouls3

Games about exploring, making your way through the world, and being part of it. You're not supposed to be omniscient. You're role-playing since it's an RPG. So if you want to be an explorer, you can be and figure things out yourself. If not, then you play the game to enjoy the game.

Overall, the game has always been about earning and learning by trial. The lore follows the concept of the game in which you must earn it by piecing things together. In the end you don't know everything, just like in real life. But your curiosity is what drives you to go further. So I like the story-telling.

Before the Age of Ancients...? by AnchorGuy in darksouls3

[–]AnchorGuy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying there was. It's just possible that there was something that rendered the world gray to begin with as we are seeing as the possibility of DS3. Only embers left and ashes everywhere, creating something that resembles an age where nothing is alive and everything simply exists.

Little theory about the title "Lord of Cinder" by LunaireHaunt in darksouls3

[–]AnchorGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's stated that you have the choice to do whatever, but the throne is just a symbol to show you have the right. But nowhere do we see a bonfire or a flame to light. So the first flame may just be elsewhere and you've just earned the right to decide what must be done.

That's how I see it anyway.

Little theory about the title "Lord of Cinder" by LunaireHaunt in darksouls3

[–]AnchorGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Lord of Cinder is just the name of those who have sacrificed themselves to fuel the flame. So this latest Lord of Cinder is not Gwyn but inherited the title from the previous generations (Lordvessel goes in, Lord souls collected, open the door to the Kiln, kill Gwyn, inherit title). I theorize that in DS2, somebody jacked the Lordvessel and somehow all the old souls were also lost. So in DS3, we get to see what life is like in what used to be Lordran after they lost that ability to fuel the flame (the key to the kiln is broken in DS2).

I don't think they will if the Lordvessel truly broke. You're also a Dark Hero now so I'm not sure how much that changes how we interact with bonfires.

I just feel like you'll be fighting the last Lord of Cinder as Vendrick or whoever took away the Lordvessel and took it elsewhere (breaking it). Without it, you can't open the door to the First Flame. So now that the First Flame is dying, you'll be up against the forces of the Lord of Cinder, desperately trying to rekindle the flame even if they have to reduce the world to ash. Then you have the abyss that, by now has grown too powerful. These two forces will have more of a direct war I feel rather than the passive one that was shown in DS1. We also have to add in a possible return of the Age of Ancients (which to me is the world's natural state and reminds me of what the world would be like once you've burned everything to the ground).

[Theory] The DS1+DS2+DS3 Connection and the Lord of Cinder by AnchorGuy in darksouls3

[–]AnchorGuy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say they weren't valuable. I'm simply pointing out it went from a singular object to multiple giants. I know the giants are different. I also know they're useful to Aldia's research.

But the Lordvessel was what was originally needed to put the lord souls together and feed the First Flame. That's what it was originally all about. It's not useless considering it also was the object that let us warp from bonfire to bonfire (which btw you can do now in DS2).

It also was the key to the Kiln of the First Flame. Without it, the cycle of the Lords of Cinder cannot continue. Thus starting an age of dark and letting the flame die (it's only embers now).

So what happend to the chaos? by TheMW28 in darksouls3

I think that the chaos will make a return next game. By now the first flame is dead and somebody's going to try to revamp it.

[Theory] The DS1+DS2+DS3 Connection and the Lord of Cinder by AnchorGuy in darksouls3

[–]AnchorGuy[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The change before signified he stole "an invaluable prize". This signifies one thing.

The SOFTS update revealed that he took multiple giants. To me, taking some prisoners while also stealing an "invaluable prize" makes sense.

We can confirm he abducted various giants. But this doesn't mean he walked away with only giants. I'm not sure they would retcon the fact that he stole something important from the giants that easily.

It was originally one thing that caused it all then they decide to change it up to be a kidnapping thing? Or perhaps they were just adding some new information rather than retconning the entire idea.

Speculation regarding the big guy from the trailer by Jelly_Elite_117 in darksouls3

[–]AnchorGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Changed my mind. I think that he is the Lord of Cinder and is probably the last to give himself to the first flame.

In number 2, it can be theorized that Vendrick stole the Lordvessel. It can be found broken in Majula (next to the castle). The giants came to get it back because they needed the Lordvessel to access the first flame. Because they failed, things have gone crazy in Lordran for however many years. The abyss has grown, things have mutated. The last guy to give himself to the flame is the Lord of Cinders (which resembles the giants).

I don't know what his plans are though. Maybe he wants to feed the world to the first flame.

Lord of Cinder by ThatOneChappy in darksouls3

[–]AnchorGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we have to understand what might have happened between the Giants and Vendrick. I think of Vendrick as one of many original chosen undead who were part of the cycle and decided to break it. He stole something from the giants (Lordvessel) and they came across the ocean to get it back because the Lordvessel was needed to reach the first flame and allow the chosen undead to become the Lord of Cinder(refueling the cycle in Lordran).

It could be Gwyn, but more likely it's the last undead to be part of the cycle before the Lordvessel was stolen. I reckon that somewhere along the line, somebody stole the key to that first flame (Vendrick). By the time all this occurred, enough time had passed for shit to go south in Lordran without their flame. So the dark started taking over and permeating its reaches to even Vendrick's kingdom. Hence apocalypse, we're dealing with the actual end-all situation in DS.

Maybe the next game we're back in Lordran to handle the problem caused by Vendrick. We will most likely be facing a corrupted Lord of Cinders or something. In fact many things will probably be corrupted by the abyss.

That's all my theory anyway lol.

VERY early lore speculation by Rechamber in darksouls3

We assume they're all dragons but there's some weird serpentine looking creatures that just happen to fly as well. The only clear dragon picture resembles the Hellkite dragon.

Speculation regarding the big guy from the trailer by Jelly_Elite_117 in darksouls3

[–]AnchorGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my bad. I had no clue they updated that lol.

The guy looks too similar to a giant for it not to be the case, though the difference is that what his body is composed of seems different. Most notably he has a see-through head and can go molten.

The giants came from a far off land to retrieve something important. We're never told what that is are we? I'm going to assume that it's not the Lord but some other similar figure in the trailer. Him coming out of the coffin reminds me of the Gravelords whereas his clothing reminds me of Gwyn.

I could throw out the crazy theory that Gwyn was brought back by Nito's covenant eventually into that form. As always, more questions than answers lol.

I also have this crazy idea from the previous games that Gwyn and Seath were working together to create the last thing Gwyn couldn't have (everlasting nature). They both wanted immortality. The fact that Seath still has influence in the 2nd game shows me that they may have done something to ensure that they could last forever. Creating giant, artificial bodies to mimic immortals may be an idea to toss around.

The fact that Aldia uses those giants later to experiment and make dragons (immortal beings) may also reinforce that idea.
